Santana took defensive swings almost the entire at bat.  He never once tried to drive the ball.  Last year he drove the ball all over the field.  He's tentative and pitchers are eating him up.  He just needs to relax and play loose.  Touch to do in the bigs though...

I think I said 3 weeks ago that Aaron Thompson needs to get off the team.  He's bad.  Really bad.  Duensing isn't a ton better, but at least he has history and injury excuse on his side.

I wouldn't call it bad managing, rather a different selection from among a bad set of options.

Thompson hasn't been that great, but Duensing has played much worse. He's not injured anymore and he's still bad. Give Thompson a little more time, I think he'll rebound.
