He played guitar and sang in a classic country band well into his 80's. We are talking Hank Williams country.

They'd play a gig in the middle of nowhere and the place would be packed with Grandpa's and Grandma's just dancing up a storm.

There simply wasn't another band playing that material anywhere. They were one of a kind because of it...  Talent level didn't matter at all... They just got up and did it and made a whole bunch folks happy.

I'd just watch them and think to myself... That's my Uncle and I just loved it.

He came out and watched my band once... He says to me... You guys are too loud. I think you're good though... but you guys are too loud.

I got to sing Cotton Fields with them once... It was a highlight for me... I was thinking that my Mom would have loved to have seen her brother and son on stage together.

That's touching.  Sorry for your loss, he sounds like he did a great job making a life well-lived.  Glad you had that Cotton Fields moment!  I'm raising my glass for him at the moment.  It's HK, so it's milk tea.  But thoughts from afar to your uncle today.

I know it's early in the season, and there are better measures of performance out there, but looking at the box with everyone under .250 except Mauer...I'm just imaging everyone with OOTP snowflake symbols next to their names.

Everything I learned about General Managin' I learned from OOTP.

Alex: Tim Stauffer

Contestant: Why does Mike Pelfrey need to go six?

The time lag for my MLB.com feed versus everyone else may not make it apparent, but I called that *before* the HR.

Any particular music we should be listening to?

#5 of the thoughts for the game had me thinking of a Marty Robbins song...

I had Buxton and Sano up at this point, and was campaigning for a WS appearance. I don't get what's so hard about this, TR. I mean, OOTP=Real Life, right?

PS. Chris Herrmann is AllStar material - flip him to the Rays for their top pitching prospects.

Indians b'cast crew are beside themselves over that throw.  They should be.  Wow- not only breaking up the no-no, but a chance to tie the game?

You just trade all your high priced players for equivalent young talent, and then use the savings to sign new free agents. Genius, eh?
