I suspect, at least for awhile, Mauer might have a few at bats where the pitcher is not going to worry about walking him for fear of who is batting behind him.

That's been happening for awhile now. I don't know why anyone would give Mauer something to hit, myself.  Not with the inconsistent unproven roster we have.

You know there are people commenting on the trib and other places who were saying similar things and not saying it as a joke and probably complaining his hit in the first was only a single.

You get more strikeouts when you are ahead in the count.

I know.  We're smarter than that here.  Especially in the game threads.

Not really a prototypical 3rd baseman. Normally, you'd want some pop there.  Not necessarily buying the Sox vastly improved team.  Maybe some better, but not a contender as I see it.
