At least the Correia cash seems to be getting used on the team for the new player signings!

I'm okay with Parm being designated for assignment. We have better options right now and he just doesn't fit. Wish him the best in the future as long as it isn't against us.

Parmelee and Plouffe were to be the PP boys to Mauer and Morneau's MM boys. Guess that isn't gonna happen.

How about Plouffe, Polanco and Pinto?

Wasn't Parmelee removed from the 40 at one point last year and went unclaimed? I hope for the best for him. It was disappointing to see him rake in AAA and fail to make the transition to big league pitching.

I was too.  I never liked that he never got consistant playing time.  I'll probably always wonder if he would have been a different player had he gotten an everyday job and 500 AB's in a season.  Too often he was given three games on and three games off, it never seemed like the best development opportunity.  I was fine letting him struggle to see if anything would shake out, the team wasn't going anywhere anyway.

Still, it's too late now.  While in the past there seemed like opportunity to do this, I don't see that opportunity any more.  Unless they want to give him a full time CF gig.

This time Parmelee has the option to become a free agent. I would guess he is about certain to go that route. I think his role would be on a National League team since he has played almost exactly as many games in the OF as 1B. He could be a pinch hitter and double switch candidate and a LH alternate at either corner in the OF and first.

Parmelee has acually been a better hitter against lefties, especially last year, so any kind of platoon with him would likely work in a counter-intuitive manner.

I could see him in the NL, but really, there seems to be a lot of places he could land, with Baltimore, Tampa and Cleveland coming to mind.  I would think if Toronto had interest in Chris Colabello, they might actually perfer Parmelee perhaps more.

I could see the A's acquiring Parmelee to replace Brandon Moss (even though they added Billy Butler).

Baltimore is running low on corner OF options, Toronto for sure (this is a Minnesota waiver situation after all), Texas may be looking to add a bench bat, he'd be an upgrade in Chicago or Kansas City to their bench bats, there's lots of AL destinations for him.

Minnesota was just one of the worst fits for him going into 2015. Who knows, he might pass through waivers again and provide depth in AAA?

As I stated above, he would then have the option to become a free agent.  Given that the Twins situation is terrible for him, I can't see him accepting assignment to Rochester.

I don't see this as the end of the road for Parmelee. Of the two Chrises let go by the Twins, I think Parmelee has the much better chance to stay in the majors and also a better chance to be a real contributor to his next team. Best wishes to him.

In 901 plate appearances, Parm has a small overall reverse platoon split. If you put his split this year against LH pitching together with his split last year vs. RH pitching, he would have put together a pretty good year (something over an .800 OPS)!

I think he makes a fine bench player. not good enough to start and just good enough for reserves.  I mean if .750 is above average then .700 is ok for the bench.  He does have some but not great power.  He plays both corner OF positions well in terms of routes, throwing and doesn't make a lot of mental errors just not great with range.  I think Pinto's bat and Schaefers and Nunez speed and range in OF makes Parmelee a player we don't need since the player he would be replacing has bad range too.

Anyone else surprised that Michael is only 23?  I feel like he came out of UNC 5 years ago. Was he just very young for his class?

20 year old Junior.

Apparently Parmelee has now been outrighted to AAA.  I assume this means he has once again cleared waivers and not chosen free agency, but I might be wrong.
