Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Game-time forecast: Mostly cloudy with a 30-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing out to left field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 70. My afternoon schedule is looking full so I thought I should get the game thread thoughts together early. This is... of course... way too early for ChiTown who typically sleeps until 2PM. She'll post those lineups right here after she wipes the sleep from her eyes. Brian, pfft! I'll have you know I stumbled out of bed at noon, and then went and had my nails done. In a little bit I'm off to the dentist and have to stop at Target for a few items. Oh, and have to return some clothing items I purchased. All in all a productive day, don't you think? My last week of freedom until I'm back at work under constant deadlines. But tour is coming soon enough. TWINS:SP, May Schafer LFDozier 2BMauer 1BVargas DHPlouffe 3BArcia RFSuzuki CEscobar SSHicks CF INDIANS:SP, Bauer Bourn CFRamirez SSBrantley LFSantana 1BKipnis 2BChisenhall 3BGomes CMurphy RFWalters DH --------------------------------------------------- Things to Think About: 1. Cleveland -- Cleveland is often called the Mistake by the Lake... Today it is known as the Love Capitol of Northeastern Ohio... The Kevin Love Capitol to be exact. Cleveland is the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Cleveland was chosen as the home of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because the term Rock and Roll was coined there by Alan Freed. I guess it's possible that Alan Freed could have coined the term in Chattanooga and that's where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would have been built. But No... Chattanooga has a Choo-Choo instead... Cleveland also used to have a Choo but he's now in Texas. Cleveland has 3 major sports teams and not a single one of them as ever won a championship and to add insult to that injury... There isn't really any major college programs in Cleveland that have a decent shot at winning a championship in collegiate sports. In consideration... Two Giant L's are being constructed to be placed on both sides of the city on I-90. 2. Progressive Field -- It used to be known as Jacobs Field but the naming rights were purchased by the Progressive Insurance Company which is based in Cleveland. After the naming rights were granted to Progressive... The Indians organization attempted to purchase an insurance policy to protect the franchise in case they have a losing record and they were quickly denied. Since 2008... Flo has been serving as the teams General Manager. 3. Trevor Bauer -- I've already done a thing on Trevor Bauer. Since July 23rd... The Twins have faced Trevor Bauer twice and managed to push across runs against him both times. On August 19th... The Twins scored 5 runs on him in 4.2 innings. There was a time when Trevor Bauer was considered one of the top pitchers in the Minors. His Current ERA for 2014 is 4.10... Let's say he's a work in progress and unless the Indians tire of him. He will be probably facing the Twins for awhile. We should probably get used to him. 4. Trevor May -- Yep... We got to think About Trevor May today... It's a battle of the Trevor's. Let's try and forget about the first 5 May appearances with the Twins. Let's just chalk those up as nerves and focus on his last start. He only walked one batter while giving up 3 runs in 5 innings pitched against the White Sox. It's one step at a time... Hopefully Trevor can build on that start and avoid the bad inning. 5. School -- School has started and my son already brought home a 100. He Got a 40 in Algebra and a 60 in History. I'm so proud!!!

stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Lineups: Twins: 1.LF: Jordan Schafer 2.2B: Brian Dozier 3.1B: Joe Mauer 4.DH: Kennys Vargas 5.3B: Trevor Plouffe 6.RF: Oswaldo Arcia 7.C: Kurt Suzuki 8.SS: Eduardo Escobar 9.CF: Aaron Hicks 10.SP: Trevor May Indians: 1.CF: Michael Bourn 2.SS: Jose Ramirez 3.LF: Michael Brantley 4.1B: Carlos Santana 5.2B: Jason Kipnis 6.3B: Lonnie Chisenhall 7.C: Yan Gomes 8.RF: David Murphy 9.DH: Zach Walters 10.SP: Trevor Bauer Schafer is back, however no Santana. The lineup suffers without Santana.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Do we really know Brian wasn't getting his nails done this afternoon, thus the full schedule?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Not sure, but I believe the 9th is Mani-Pedi Day in Grand Forks.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 While waiting for the night's festivities to commence, consider... One of my secret pleasures is, and I blush to say this, the McGarrigle Sisters. (No, haven't been to Lilith Fair. Yet.) But with Anna going on through life without Kate, if she teamed up with Bill Medley, would the new duo be the Righteous Sister? That is all.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 I'm home and ready for the battle of the Trevors... And my nails look great!!!

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 You have maybe been spending too much time with RB (not that that is necessarily a bad thing).I've been really trying to spread my influence across the world. So far it's just resulted in a rare respitory virus spreading across the Midwest.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 Oou, what color did you choose?I couldn't decide... So I went with a different color on each nail. My favorite is the Robins Egg Blue on my left hand index finger.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I have no confidence that the Twins will win this game, but watching them put up four in a hurry is entertaining.

They scored some runs and I got nothing else.
