stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Given what we have seen from the Astros in the field, it is nearly miraculous that they threw Plouffe out in the eighth.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Did they really say Mauer got an RBI for the second run too?
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 You normally don't see LF'ers that stupid in the Majors... Not since Delmon Young anywayThat was stupid but that young man has a ways to go to earn Delmon stupid stripes.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Did they really say Mauer got an RBI for the second run too?Yep
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Oh Lord! Now I am going to start hoping that Joe Mauer can hit like Joe Mauer for the rest of the season.I suppose you should never go by one game, and this is the Astros, but he was actually kind of Joe Mauer like the couple of weeks prior to his DL stint. Hopefully he will have a solid last 6 weeks.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Did they really say Mauer got an RBI for the second run too? They're doing all they can to get him to 40 for the season. EDIT: Or not.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Asstros™. I come from a small town. There was a kid with the last name Ashburn. First he got the nickname Ass Burn, which then turned Hot Butt, which stuck.
alskntwnsfn Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I am guessing there are a bunch of people on the Strib page upset because they were all ready to post a comment how Mauer is not clutch and only hits meaningless singles and has destroyed the Twins, the moose population, and the water level of White Bear Lake. I liked Dead Poet's Society when it came out. It would be interesting to see what I think of it as an adult. I saw it at that age when you tend to think a lot of things are deep. I thought he did some good voice work for Aladin. Don't forget the fact his moving over to first coincided with a brutally cold winter and spring flooding.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Aladdin is the one that comes to mind. (Six kids - I've seen it a lot.)Gaffigan has a great line "If you want to know what it's like to have a 4th child... Just imagine your drowning and someone hands you a baby".
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Parmelee does a good job all things considered, but the RFer in 2016 catches that foul pop.
Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Bicentennial Man was one of my favorites.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Don't forget the fact his moving over to first coincided with a brutally cold winter and spring flooding. That's why it was so cold up here last winter......damn you Mauer!!!!

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Parmelee does a good job all things considered, but the RFer in 2016 catches that foul pop.Yeah... Parm will have a couple more years under his belt.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Parmelee does a good job all things considered, but the RFer in 2016 catches that foul pop, in Oakland....
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I suppose you should never go by one game, and this is the Astros, but he was actually kind of Joe Mauer like the couple of weeks prior to his DL stint. Hopefully he will have a solid last 6 weeks. And then the scoop at first base. This might be Mauer's actual debut for 2014.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Mauer might end up being a pretty good 1B.
gil4 Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Did they really say Mauer got an RBI for the second run too?It sounds like they changed it.

howeda7 Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Nice game by Mauer and Scott Diamond. Oops.
alskntwnsfn Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Hey that was fun Twinkies. Let's do it again tomorrow.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Gaffigan has a great line "If you want to know what it's like to have a 4th child... Just imaging your drowning and someone hands you a baby".That's a great one. I'll use it in the future as the followup for my favorite about 3 kids: when you go from 2 children to 3, you and your wife have to switch from a man-to-man defense to a zone.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Better than the Astros for another day.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Don't forget the fact his moving over to first coincided with a brutally cold winter and spring flooding. You can't blame the spring flooding on Mauer, that was Anderson's fault.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Yeah... Parm will have a couple more years under his belt. And a couple years' better footspeed?
Thegrin Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 It makes no difference where Mauer plays, if he hits like Joe Mauer. We have Vargas, Dozier, Arcia, Plouffe & Parmalee to hit home runs... and they will only get better. A good win, that.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I'm ticked off at the official scorer. Dozier should have gotten credit for a hit on his dribbler to the right side. Then he gives an extra RBI to Mauer (since changed).
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Dozier has Marnie "all shook up".
