Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 What a satisfying game. It reminded me of "Return of the Jedi", with Hughes as Luke Skywalker, Willingham as Han Solo and his soldiers on Endor and Dozier as Wedge Antilles and Lando Calrissian.... sealing the deal. The Empire has been destroyed - at least for today.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Me too, chief...and he's an easy guy to cheer for (unlike Nolasco who strikes me as being a little surly)
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 I was going to make a tasteless, cruel joke about the blue hair still being there, but I decided not to.I would have said it takes one blue hair to recognize another.

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I wish I could hit a wedge that well.Try your 3 iron.

jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Anyone want a little icing on their "Sunday"? Berrios goes into the 5th with a perfect game going....
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I have always been a fan of Kubel, but am now ready to see him leave. Perhaps he could consult on the matter of retirement with the former Team Chemist?
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Ha! But who is Kubes in this movie? He was the Huge Rebel Starship that was destroyed by the fully operational Deathstar.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I really like that it was a good defense day.
longstrangetrip Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I really like that it was a good defense day. Yes, especially Dozier and Mauer (who seems to improve defensively every day).
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I really like that it was a good defense day. ...but still pining for P-Flo...just a little bit?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I would have said it takes one blue hair to recognize another.Yeah...provided I have my reading glasses on.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Yes, especially Dozier and Mauer (who seems to improve defensively every day). I have noticed the same thing, Mauer has actually been tremendous in the field of late....even in the midst of what may be his worst hitting slump, ever. And speaking of that, Dozier has been slumping of late, the kind of batting slump that would have melted him into a wet tub of goo at SS back in 2012, tremendous day in the field for Dozier.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 911: Good Afternoon 911... Is this an emergency? Chief: I think so... My friend ChiTown was holding her breath and she stopped posting. 911: Sir... The caller ID says this call is coming from Arizona. Chief: Yes... I live in Arizona. 911: This is Chicago 911 Chief: Yes.. ChiTown lives in ChiTown. 911: you say she was holding her breath... Is she breathing now? Chief: I don't know 911: Look at her chest... Is it rising and falling? Chief: I can't look at her chest. 911: It's ok... Don't be bashful its a medical emergency. Laughing so hard I almost stopped breathing.
steve Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I had no expectation for the boys this year. Of the three games, I've seen in person, two were real, real, good. The team looks like they believe in themselves, and if they try hard, good results can happen. It's a nice, nice change of pace.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Anyone want a little icing on their "Sunday"? Berrios goes into the 5th with a perfect game going.... Thanks for the heads up. Alas, i turned on the radio, and heard a double off the wall... But he's still dealing, and hopefully will strand that runner.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Yeah...provided I have my reading glasses on.Why aren't you napping? It's about time.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Why aren't you napping? It's about time. Two hour time difference.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 ...but still pining for P-Flo...just a little bit? Defensively I do... Although... He wasn't 2013 like with the glove in 2014. I see his offensive numbers coming up in Rochester... Santana pretend D.L'ed. We are down to 7 SS's now. It could be Florimon coming up.

I'm not surprised that he would have a sharp learning curve at first base, considering what a versatile athlete he is. But his plate woes are getting difficult to watch. I bit my tongue when he singled sharply up the middle on a first pitch fastball...I was starting to get as repetitive as the YES announcers.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Apparently the baseball gods wanted me to give up and walk away... Nice to come back and see 2-1 in the top of the 9th ending 7-2...
WLFINN Verified Member Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 "Most impressive win of the last 3 1/2 years" Pretty low bar to clear there, Dick. Hoping you are referencing the Twins TV broadcaster......
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I watched the game on DVR, and even though I knew the score, I was grinning widely watching the ninth. Rubber games and rubber bands!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 It was fun to review all the highlights after, too.
