Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Evan Bigley, when did he disappear? He was released about a week ago.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Am I the only one surprised Adam Walker is starting at Ft Myers? I thought he would be at AA Based on what? He spent last year in Low A. I think he could get to New Britain, but he's where he should be.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Am I the only one surprised Adam Walker is starting at Ft Myers? I thought he would be at AA I can't think of any players that have bypassed Ft. Myers completely and I don't see Walker as such an exceptional talant that they'd bend those rules for him.
roger Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Seth, It appears that the following are all gone: Jose Abreu, Damion Defrank, Miguel Gonzalez, Adonis Pacheco, Leonel Zazueta, Reyson Zoquiel, Chris Mazza, C.J. Ziegler and Harold Garcia? If my memory is correct, the Twins don't send Aussies to the DSL. Do you have any idea of where Jack Barrie will be this summer? Thanks Seth, the fun baseball begins on Thursday.
cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Outside of some pitching choices nothing really to complain about.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 That releif depth is really starting to pile up. It's a little sad that the Twins strenght is overwhelmingly in the bullpen, but it certainly is well stocked throughout the system. I really hope the team has let it be known that they are ready and willing trade partners in this department. Achter and Oliveros may have made the 25-man in lesser years and they're sitting in New Britain. Aside from missing a closer, having every healthy Rochester bullpen arm at the MLB level right now would have my attention.
Brad Swanson Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Did the Twins release Romy Jimenez? He was awful last year, but great in 2012.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 thanks for this list! Am looking forward to catching a Miracle game or two or three when I'm visiting my folks ...

The other guys I would expect to make it to EST at some point. Thanks Seth, the fun baseball begins on Thursday. Ziegler and Mazza are the guys I expected to see on a full-season team and don't. The other guys probably just aren't around yet. (Seth reminded me last week that they don't bring all guys to minor league Spring Training.) Garcia wasn't retained as a six-year MiLB FA. I would assume that Barrie and Pearce (another Aussie that was signed) as well as Verkerk (Netherlands) will show up in FM later this spring and play in the GCL.
tjsyam921 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 How is Stuart Turners bat? Considering health, who would move up from CR 1st and who would take his spot in the rotation? Gonsalves? Thorpe? Someone else?
pierre75275 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Based on what? He spent last year in Low A. I think he could get to New Britain, but he's where he should be. Thanks. For some reason I thought he spent last season at Ft Myers
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I'd like to see Wimmers join Buxton on the New Britain train when his time comes. He could finish in Rochester, if all goes well.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 CJ Ziegler is on the New Britain roster. Mazza had an offseason surgery. He was throwing in spring training, but may just still be rehabbing. I'll check on all those guys who played in the GCL last year but weren't at minor league spring training.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Did the Twins release Romy Jimenez? He was awful last year, but great in 2012. Yes, he was released.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 I would assume that Barrie and Pearce (another Aussie that was signed) as well as Verkerk (Netherlands) will show up in FM later this spring and play in the GCL. I would suspect they'll get there in the next week or so... I thought I saw Verkerk tweet something that included the word "Amerika" so he may be in route or there already.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 How is Stuart Turners bat? Considering health, who would move up from CR 1st and who would take his spot in the rotation? Gonsalves? Thorpe? Someone else? Turner hit really well in the SEC last year, though reports are that he's not going to hit a lot. One of my biggest surprises is that Ethan Mildren is starting in EST. I think he'd be first. Gonsalves is certainly an option. I really think Thorpe and Fernando Romero will most likely pitch for E-Town this summer.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 I'd like to see Wimmers join Buxton on the New Britain train when his time comes. He could finish in Rochester, if all goes well. I think that could happen, but i think when he had that surgery right after last season, I think they're going to make sure he's all good, and then get him up... probably fairly quickly.
DJL44 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 A bit surprised to see Turner jump all the way to Ft Myers. Hopefully that turns out better than Levi Michael.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Evan Bigley, when did he disappear? I talked with Dougie M and he said Bigley would get picked up by someone.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 A bit surprised to see Turner jump all the way to Ft Myers. Hopefully that turns out better than Levi Michael. It's an interesting discussion... I hear so many people say that those college guys need to jump right to Ft. Myers and then move up quickly from there... Doesn't always work so nicely.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Dereck Rodriguez is being converted to a Relief Pitcher?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Dereck Rodriguez is being converted to a Relief Pitcher? Yes.
Chance Provisional Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks Seth. I hope Mejia can repeat the success he had last season in FM. What is the story on him again? I know that he jumped to FM just to fill in for an injury (Micheal?) and that he just stuck there. What was the report on him prior to that happening?
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Very excited for all the clubs! I can see playoff possibilities for the top three clubs, or at least winning records. I have a few concerns about the offense at Cedar Rapids. While I am very pleased at all the pitching talent throughout the minors, I have to confess that my eye is looking at New Britain and Ft. Myers for the tremendous position players between those two clubs.
Dr. Evil Verified Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Sorry if this has already been asked/discussed. But what is the deal with Eddie Rosario? I mean besides the 50 game suspension. Any guesses or insight as to why he has not been around? Thank you.
twinsin17 Provisional Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I hate to speculate but the fact that Rosario has disappeared leads me to believe he may have entered a rehab facility. The details around his reason for suspension were pretty vague. Baseball has to be hush hush about players in the drug abuse program so the team may be unable to comment on his whereabouts. If this is the case I hope he gets the help needed and can make the necessary changes in his life because all indications are he has a bright future.
Dr. Evil Verified Member Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I sure hope he gets healthy for his own sake. From a baseball standpoint(not nearly as important) I hope he gets back on track. He is a guy I had been watching and really excited about.
