  1. Wonder if they could've signed him to a minor league deal for the same price knowing hell be in the majors in a week or two. I'm sure Boris had no intentions of doing such a thing though.
  2. They'll be looking to make room for Arcia after the Giants series. What about Willingham? I haven't really missed him but I'm sure he's got to be close to a return.
  3. I really like fiery players like Fien. Seems like you know they're giving it they all every game. I'd just keep riding it out year by year. Even if he continues to pitch like he has he shouldn't really ever get overly expensive.
  4. I'd try to work out an extension like the one year u mentioned or try to pull off a Doumit like trade for a Sean Gilmartin level pitcher before the deadline this year.
  5. I would guess part of the reason so many of his homers are solo is because he gets better pitches to drive when no one is on base.
  6. Wouldn't it make sense for Rosario to gain experience at 2nd as he already has plenty of outfield experience.
  7. Hicks is talented, but he's not that talented that he can play with no game plan or preparation.
  8. How much longer before Levi gets a shot at double A?
  9. Does his service time start when he's called up or is it the cumulative time. For example if he were to hit a innings limit in August and being shut down for the season would that cut off a month of time?
  10. How is that certain players can be good second basemen but struggle at short? Like Polanco and Dozier?
  11. If there were 5 pitchers better than Meyer in Minnesota we'd be headed to the world series. What does a team like the twins do when they have a guy, for example like Pelfrey, struggling but has a two year contract? Put him in the pen? Yikes! Send him down and hope no one claims him? Trade him for nothing?
  12. Not saying they will but if some of the major league starters continue to struggle with starters in AAA pitching well. How long will they stick with them? And what would they do with the MLB starters having multi year deals?
  13. I've always thought Kubel's defense was underrated so that's not a big surprise for me. Especially that he's better than Willingham and Arcia. I'm really surprised by his bat so far. I expected him to hit just not this well. He looks pretty confident right now which is good to see. I've been surprised with the offense as a whole this year as well. Been awhile since I've felt confident in them to score runs. I really hope they can keep it going and get the pitching turns around.
  14. Its shocking to me how difficult it is to find a mlb shortstop that can catch, throw, AND hit. I'd be happy with him if he could get his numbers back to 2013 range.
  15. I wonder how much the competition for playing time between Kubel and Colabello has pushed their focus? Its good to see not only them but some others starting off hot. I surely hope the cold weather is the issue with the pitching because last year's strength, the bullpen, hasn't been very good so far along with the starters.
  16. Can't wait for better weather and vacation time to make the trek across the state to see the Kernals again this summer!
  17. I think Pelfrey should be better this year. Nolasco from what I've read is prone to starts like Mondays, but should have plenty of good ones. I think its only a matter of time before Colabello takes over the clean up spot. I like Willingham but he looks like the oldest 35 year old I've ever seen.
  18. How is Stuart Turners bat? Considering health, who would move up from CR 1st and who would take his spot in the rotation? Gonsalves? Thorpe? Someone else?
  19. My concern started with the things you mentioned above and continued when I began to realize we still dont have a true leadoff hitter, number 2 hitter, and the clean up hitter had 3 hits in the entire spring. Put that together with Gardy's lineups and were in trouble. I cant wait to see how laughable these lineups look. I was also looking forward to possibly competing next year, but that seems to be getting pushed back yet another year.
  20. I think the clean up hitter hitting .050 is a much bigger concern than Bartlett and Kubel making the club.
  21. Should be another good summer of Kernel's baseball!
  22. Even with better pitching this team doesn't look good. To many players getting sent down to keep lesser players that have had enough chances and couldn't get it done. I was hoping for a 500 record but I don't see it.
  23. My guess would be that they don't want other teams to think they're down on Diamond. Therefore reducing any trade value.
  24. I think the only reason Gibson doesnt start the year with the big club is if they keep him in Rochester to have a space open for a optionless player. With Deduno pitching out of the pen all spring and Worley and Diamond struggling (Worley being horrible) I dont see any reason to not have Gibson start with the Twins. They need to have the best pitching staff they can if they're going to struggle to score runs. I dont even want to get started on the Gold Glove 30 homer short stop we gave away. The loss of a possible mid-season call up of Sano is a big blow to the offense. If some of the players hit like last year and players like Plouffe, Willingham, Colabello, Hicks, or Kubel can hit better we could surprise some people. But thats a lot to ask.
  25. When they say they aren't worried about not having surgery sooner seems dumb to me. Whether he misses the whole 2014 season or not. The sooner he has the surgery the farther from it he'll be in 2015.
