  1. If Florimon is brought back for the short term the only thing I want to see is; Escobar at third, Santana at short, and Dozier at second (barring health). If Dozier has a setback; Santana second, Florimon short, and Escobar third.
  2. The reason I included Guerrier was because in a week or 2 his numbers will most likely skyrocket. He can't be trusted in any leverage situations. If you're a contender you shouldn't really have a mop up guy. Achter can strike people out and strand runners. He has done it every step of the way. It's time to see him give it a go in the majors. I chose Tonkin for the other reliever spot mostly because he has some experience In the majors. I would be happy with any number of the AAA relievers (more likely Darnell). I just don't think Burton should be on the roster because he is STILL being used in the 8th inning instead of Fien.
  3. Almost exactly my point. If they Twins mean to contend NOW they need to field the best players they can. I think Hicks can slowly develop at the major league level, but I don't think he should play everyday or even most days. Maybe he can in right field until Arcia is back (which, who knows, could be the next game). Santana shouldn't be messed with until he falls hard back to reality. At that point, if Hicks is the best we have and has still been improving, throw him back in there.
  4. Paul- Hicks is improving. I think the best thing for him is to slowly keep working on improving. Playing a few games a week would be good for him, in my opinion. I'm in no way saying that Santana will mantain, but until he does fall apart his role shouldn't change. This outline is set on contending not rebuilding. Santana can work on SS if his bat keeps up but Escobar's doesn't. Arcia is my favorite Twin but until he walks a little more he should bat behind Morales. Morales should mantain his career norms.
  5. The Morales signing indicates the Twins want to contend. If this is their objective then other changes need to be made. The following are my suggestions. They are a mix of what I want while also considering the reality of what the Twins might do. Roster moves: 1. Morales is added and Kubel is released 2. When Fuld comes back Parmelee is sent back to AAA (if he clears waivers) Lineup/playing time 1. Santana remains in centerfield as an everyday player and bats leadoff 2. Dozier bats 2nd and stays at 2B 3. Mauer status quo 4. Willingham stays in LF everyday and bats cleanup 5. Morales DHs batting 5th 6. Arcia (when healthy) bats 6th and plays 7. Plouffe keeps doing what he has been 8. Suzuki and Pinto share time catching 9. Escobar bats last and plays everyday at short Other position players -Hicks relieves Santana and Arcia a day or 2 a week. It's not ideal for him to stay in the majors but there really isn't anyone else who needs to come up in AAA and Hicks has slowly been getting better. -Fuld is used primarily as a pinch runner or defensive replacement for Willingham. Shouldn't really get many (any) starts. -Nunez gives Plouffe and Escobar days off when They need them. Rotation 1. Correia is dealt or placed on waivers and Johnson is recalled. I know it is not sexy and we all (yes including me) would like to see May or Meyer up first but Johnson is the right decision. To start with. Bullpen 1. Burton is released/traded/placed on waivers and replaced by Achter. 2. Guerrier is gone with Tonkin taking his place More moves would happen as things change but these could all happen in the next week or 2. Thoughts? Other ideas?
  6. http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/8.gif My feelings towards the game management and Arcia injury......
  7. Was it supposed to be a hit and run? Watching game cast...
  8. And now Caleb pitches 2/3 with 2 Ks no hits or walks just an error behind him and he is replaced.... baffled.
  9. I just went to check pitch counts before the 6th inning and was disappointed when I saw that Correia was going to be brought out for another inning. That should not have happened. I have seen earlier this year that Hughes and Gibson were cruising through their starts and were taken out after around 90 pitches. I just can't follow the logic when it comes to sending a guy back out for the Twins. It's sporadic at best and it always leaves me second guessing. The 2 starts that Hughes and Gibson pitched were held up by the bullpens I believe, but it still doesn't make sense when put side by side with Correia's outtings...
  10. The second round pick will be a pitcher coming off of arm injury that was highly regarded before said injury. Who fits the bill?...
  11. If Escobar keeps producing at a reasonable rate, then Santana's role on this team may be as a utility player (backing up SS, 2B, CF) for the next few years. If Escobar starts falling off a cliff then, yes, I think it would be wise to move Santana to SS.
  12. I honestly believe that if we bring up a bat to replace Kubel's, the logical choice should be Vargas. He can DH or play first while Mauer DHs here and there. We don't have an outfielder that we can bring up to take over for anyone. We don't beed Romero since he is yet another infielder. I hope that Vargas can jump up from AA to replace Kubel's bat and Fuld can come up to be a reserve outfielder (late inning replacement for Willingham). Even though he is slightly out of position, Santana should stay at center until it no longer is working.
  13. Could not agree more. I have mentioned this in the last couple MLR as well. The rotation has been garbage with the exception of Stewart and Slegers. The guys they are running out there could use more time in EST. Give some other guys a shot. They seem very set on not changing the plan with these guys. They most want to space them out and have them a year behind Stewart?... I'm not sure way Thorpe and Gonsalves have not been progressing along with Stewart. Thorpe at the very least.
  14. He finished the year at NB so he will have to wait for their 50 games to be up and then he can be asigned to a team, I believe?... He may spend some time in FM to start but I think there is more room in NB for him to play and not affect other prospects (Polanco, Goodrum) and I would like for them to not take away bats from Mejia. There are at-bats to be had in AA.
  15. I really wish Thorpe and Gonsalves would get promoted to CR. The starters, apart from Stewart and Slegers, make me depressed. Which is the best reason to make a change, my feelings are the most important after all.
  16. If my math is correct, Rosario can be activated after NB's next 4 games? When he is activated, can he be assigned to any team?
  17. Pretty soon I would like to see some starters in Cedar Rapids head back to EST and bring in the top arms that are waiting in the wings.
  18. Congrats on your 3,800th post ChiTown! It's only fitting that that you have achieved this posting a Game Thread.
  19. Great to see that start from May. Hopefully he keeps starts like that coming. If Diamond has another really bad start, is something done with him? DL or released? So far the CR pitchers haven't been overly impressive apart from Stewart and Slegers. I'd like to see Gonsalves and Thorpe up there soon if things don't start improving with the warm weather. I'm not giving up on anyone by any stretch. I would just like to see some other guys get opportunities with tough competition when they seemed to far better against the same competition as Rosario and others last season.
  20. Did Gardy tell Gibby to not worry about strikeouts? I mean he has been getting outs so I can't complain. Just think it's strange how low his K numbers are.
  21. I smell a win today.... I just hope it's a win for the Twins.
  22. May is having a great start tonight. 8 Ks throw 5 with no walks! Hopefully he can add one more inning.
  23. This is 100% how I feel! Every word.
  24. Now if Dozier and Mauer can follow Florimon's lead....
