Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Beginning Monday, Mar. 5, 9am CT you can begin claiming your prospects. This round includes the Twins Daily top 20 ranked prospects, plus 20 more. The '20 more' are just listed and are not an official ranking, so please don't go down the road of 'Why is so-and-so listed at 32?' We just wanted to offer 40 in this first round, so beyond the TD top 20, it's just ... a best guesstimate and means nothing official. To claim your prospect, just begin posting in this thread (not until Monday 9am) with the name of the prospect you want. To be fair to everyone, please don't make your claims early or your post will be deleted (based on the site's time stamp). And, also to be fair to everyone, you can only claim one prospect a day in this round of claiming, so choose wisely. I will put your name behind the prospect name on the list when your claim is official. (I may not get to that part until later each day, so don't fret it if you don't see your claim marked as official right away.) Starting the following Monday, I will post an alphabetical list of anyone not selected in this round and the remaining 100 or so. At that time you can begin claiming any and all you want, no more of this 'one per day' stuff. If you don't see the one you want in this round, please hold tight, they will be listed in the following week. After the 2018 draft, we will post a new list for claims. The list of prospects will remain up for the duration of the season so you can always add prospects at any time you want throughout the summer. Once your claim is marked official, begin! If you want ideas of how to get started and what to include, check out some of our past years prospect pages, but basically, include anything you want - their bio and their road to the Twins, their stats, your personal scouting reports, current and past teams, official scouting reports, where you hope/think they will land in their careers, promotions, demotions, injuries, link any media mentions (including TD mentions) - whatever you want - and keep it updated. It's yours to manage however you see fit. The purpose of these pages is to introduce our prospects to everyone. Over the years I've found these pages extremely useful. When players are mentioned in the daily Minor League reports, or other media, I come to these pages to read more specifics. One idea to keep in mind ... promote, promote, promote! If you see your prospect get a mention in the Minor League forum, feel free to comment on that and post a link to your prospect page here; and vice versa ... link your prospect to mentions in the MiL forum. Cross-link for greater traffic between forums! To start your page, click on the black rectangle "Start New Topic" in this forum, title it with your prospect's name followed by AAP 2018, (i.e. Royce Lewis AAP 2018), add any tags you want, then fill out the body of your post. Click 'Post New Topic' when you are done. When you want to add updates, just add a new post. Others may post questions or pictures to your prospect pages, or make their own comments, and you may do the same with others. If you have any other technical questions (how to create links, add photos, etc) please send me a PM. If you have any general AAP questions, contact either me or goulik. And ... here's the first 40 ... you have a day and some to look over the list and get ready for Monday morning at 9am! 1. Royce Lewis - adopted by markos2. operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 With the 7th pick I select Yunior Severino! \m/
goulik Verified Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Goulik: Im sitting here with Kevin Lawless discussing his predraft rankings and how this draft is going so far. Kevin, Can I call you KLaw... Kevin: Yes, Goulik: Thank you, KLaw, how do you think the draft is going so far Kevin: Its going well but a little slower than I hoped. I really would like teams to be put on a clock or something for this draft... Goulik: Well actually these are not teams drafting, these are all TD members rooting for the same team. Kevin: Regardless, I am still going to ask commissioner Carole to institute a clock. Goulik: So what do you like so far and what do you hate. Kevin: Well, I do like the Gordon, Baddoo, Rooker picks but it puzzles me that many of my top ranked prospects are yet to be scooped up. Goulik: So, KLaw, who do you see going next? Which names surprise you that are still on the board and why? Kevin: Well the obvious ones are Royce Lewis and Stephen Gonsalves. Those are my top two prospects. If Teams Goulik: TD Members Kevin: If Drafters were going to drop down I would think they would get the easy mark of Mitch Garver... Heck, he's going to be with the MLB club to start the year. He's a gimmee for those looking to draft a sure bet to make it. For Goodness sake, Slegers over Garver? Goulik: Well its time for a break KLaw, I hope you will be sticking around to watch the draft all day? Kevin: Wouldn't miss it! Goulik: Ok, We will try to catch up with you later!!
Steve Lein Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Dang, missed the boat and both my guys already picked - lucky you guys! Rooker and Thorpe - whom I loved interviewing back in 2014 (http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins-minor-leagues/color-me-and-joe-mauer-impressed-r2962). I expect big years from them! But I'll take Tyler Jay as a consolation prize!
goulik Verified Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Kevin Lawless tells me the top 10 he still has as available are: 2 Stephen Gonsalves4 Fernando Romero5 Alex Kirilloff7 Brusdar Graterol9 Blayne Enlow10 Wander Javier11 Lewin Diaz14 Zack Littell15 Jacob Pearson16 Mitch Garver
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 For those who have chosen thus far ... go to it! Your adoptions have been approved and you are now official prospect parents!!

goulik Verified Member Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 With the 9th? 10th? pick, I select Blayne EnlowThat was the 10th pick...
goulik Verified Member Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Goulik: I'm back with Kevin Lawless to wrap up the first round, 11 picks in and only 28 prospects left. What do you think we will see today? Kevin: Day 1 isn't over Goulik... I'm still hoping for a few more picks before 9 am. Then I'm seeing some top Starting Pitching to quickly fall off the board. Goulik: good point, I almost broke the 9 am rule and tried to put in my second pick which woulda been deleted. Which pitchers are you looking at? Kevin: I'm sure Carole is as ruthless that way as she sounds. Im looking at Gonsalves, Romero, and Jorge. There's a lot of young talent there with those three starters. With Slegers you have 4 starters right on the cusp of MLB. Along with Garver, Granite and Curtiss, there are lots of prospects I expect to see on an MLB roster at some point this year. Goulik: Well, let's see who's first to grab their second prospect at 9... Kevin: here's my best left available:2 Gonsalves4 Romero7 Graterol10 Javier11 Diaz14 Littell15 Pearson16 Garver18 Curtiss20 Jorge Goulik: there's a couple in there I could pick. I'll be back at 9...
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I'll keep the guy I had last year, Jake Reed.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 Hey! Don't be dissin' my guy Aaron. I recognize a backhanded compliment when I see one. And who are you taking today? Or are you waiting for Bizzle in next week's draft?
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 And who are you taking today? Or are you waiting for Bizzle in next week's draft? It was barely 9 am on my clock when I posted that. You guys must have jumped the gun or something. As for today's pick, I'll go to the well again by taking Ben Rortvedt. I figured someone would have snapped him up by now. You snooze you lose. And when the times comes, fo' shizzle I'll take Austin Bizzle.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 Okay ... y'all who have posted and claimed prospects so far today, you're all set. Btw ... I've been liking everyone's claim posts, so that's another way that I've gotten to you and you're clear to go!
