  1. I agree with this. Out of Ryan, Ober and Paddack, odds are real good at least one of them steps up and fills the 2nd or 3rd playoff starter role. Counting on 2 of them could cost you. As much as I've liked Maeda and as well as he did pitch as a playoff starter for us in 2020 (5 shutout innings with 5 K's), at his age, if you want to take the next step do you want to count on him? Also, I only want to push Louie to AAA if the pitcher doing the pushing is a front line playoff starter type. Louie will still get his chance starting due to injuries which is very important. Starting pitchers are the most important asset and I'm not moving Louie to the pen until I get a real good look at him starting.
  2. If Lopez performs like he did this year, he is seriously under paid. Hopefully the front office doesn't think every deal has to be such a steal because then they might not get anything done.
  3. C'mon man it is obvious they are both ALPHAS.
  4. IDK, they're pretty good. I mean it is only a dollar. Then again I did used to own a pet rock, so I have shown the willingness to throw away a dollar.
  5. Hey @Lucas Seehafer PT I bumped this after reading your take on AK's surgery hoping you might weigh in on this. From what I can tell this looks like really good news, maybe even good enough for Buxton in center.
  6. D Stream that went from $90 a month to $120 and was same old crappy cable business model that engenders acrimony in the customer the longer they are signed up. Said goodbye to that, now it's Fubo at $90 and I just want to drop it altogether. I would gladly pay for a Twins only package.
  7. It interesting how in the beginning Levine was out front taking most interviews while the very green Falvey stayed behind the scenes and learned, becoming more comfortable out front. The older Levine, with 11 years experience in essentially the same role in Texas, served as a defacto mentor to Falvey. It would not surprise me that with that job done, and in his 50's, he would accept the challenge of the top spot. The guy is a great public speaker who probably enjoys a more front facing role.
  8. I believe he was referring to 2022 and his 138 OPS+.
  9. Per Buxton: Apparently if you have a thick plica, but are not an athlete, it may never cause a problem. But if it is thick and you use your knee heavily, it can become inflamed. If non surgical procedures don't work, they will cut out the inflamed tissue. This seems to be unexpectedly good news; "If a plica is small then it is irrelevant. It a plica is big/thick but you’re a couch potato then it’s still irrelevant. However, if you’ve got a big/thick plica and you do a lot of exercise then the plica can rub inside the knee and become inflamed. If the symptoms are bad enough, then the proper treatment is to have an arthroscopy. This allows the whole of the inside of the knee to be checked thoroughly, and then whatever plical tissue is found can be excised easily, with a tiny shaver. Recovery from this surgery is normally quick (about 6 weeks) and it usually completely cures the problem." https://kneearthroscopy.co.uk/condition/medial-plica-syndrome/
  10. It was a JOKE, settle down. I'm not upset about the funding of Target Field. Your sarcasm detection mechanism needs calibrating.
  11. He learned me too. You have a lot of work ahead of you @USAFChief
  12. We all did, you know, the taxpayers. I suppose we just have to blame ourselves.
  13. Per an article by Dan Hayes of the Athletic titled, "Sonny Gray is open to a reunion, says money isn't the only factor". Dan goes on, "Gray’s comments may come as a surprise to many who believe he and Rocco Baldelli are at odds because of the perception the Twins manager doesn’t allow starters to pitch deep into games — a belief proven incorrect this season when Twins starters finished fourth in baseball in innings pitched with 895 innings". Gray has said he wanted to test free agency, but now sees how the Twins, their culture and future prospects for wins checks so many boxes for him. He likes the family friendly culture. Having pitched under the bright lights of NY and in the band box in Cincy, Target Field doesn't seem so shabby, lol. He does want to be paid fairly, but what makes me think this may not get done is while saying he has no desire for retirement, he mentions 3-4 years. That is the part I'm not sure the Twins would be on board with. For your dining pleasure, lol.
  14. Blame is a game that no one will pay to watch.
  15. I became a Vikings fan in the 70's. What a great team and what amazing seasons and entertainment they gave me. I'll never forget. They lost the last game in the playoffs every year they made it. Yep, what a great team!
  16. I disagree, they are all only relevant as entertainment, nothing more. There is no importance beyond a cultural one. Then it only comes down to preference. I know many people that could care less about sports, but could quote verbatim from Laverne and Shirley, lol. I have 2 stepsons living under this roof. One dons a Hockenson jersey every Sunday living and dieing with the Vikings and the other has no interest at all but has watched every episode of the Office twice. Just a preference and personally I think it's great women's sports is receiving more attention and money.
  17. Can't find a quote so maybe it's a false claim. Reading the following I gotta doubt that an offer by a team in Texas wouldn't have carried some extra weight; "He was born in Dallas and grew up in nearby Irving, then the home of the Cowboys, in the days of Aikman, Irvin and Smith. His late maternal grandfather, Tito Nicholas, was a personal friend of legendary coach Tom Landry from their shared time in flight school during World War II. His mother, Jan, went to school with and was friends with Landry’s daughter, Lisa. Landry even attended Pressly’s parents’ wedding. If he didn’t have enough familial connections to his favorite football team, Pressly’s fiancée, Kat Rogers, is a former Cowboys cheerleader. They will be married Dec. 31 in Houston, her hometown. “We’re definitely ingrained with the Cowboy blue and silver,” Pressly said. They live in the offseason north of Fort Worth in the small town of Argyle."
  18. Oops my bad on Pressly, thanks. My foggy recollection was they moved him as an impending free agent. I would disagree with your zero reason they couldn't have signed him assertion. All things being equal, it is clear he would have preferred to play in Texas. He said as much. I was doing my best to interpret and answer the questions posed by MABB1959. He asked if we got someone better. I would take Duran over Pressly, but yes they don't have anything to do with each other.
  19. Yes, we all miss him (the front office knew his talent if that's what you mean), but he wasn't signing here. Yes, Duran Thielbar
  20. The last pitch was much closer, on the line. I don't think that one was a bad call. Max has to swing there. The first one was egregious.
  21. TBar has been really good for this team for a few years now. He did allow some runs in the playoffs and had he been perfect, who knows what would have happened. He did not completely melt down. Jax seemed almost unusable what with the 10 losses. He had some bounce back outings towards the end of the year, but was inconsistent. Many were calling for him not to be used in the playoffs, then he comes through with flying colors. In some big spots. When you are the manager, in the end you just have to rely on your guys and hope for the best. Pretty tough to take a series when all the other team needs is 3 runs.
