  1. A lot of great candidates for this prestigious award! But my pick, with one of the great all-time baseball names, is young Willie Joe Garry Jr!
  2. No, just, no. Too high a price for "Buxton insurance." Me no like.
  3. Did we do something wrong? Why would this be imposed on the Twins? It's like your dentist calling and telling you, "Congrats! You're a finalist for a root canal!"
  4. Sucked losing Damian Miller to AZ. But then, there was this Mauer guy who came along... The real tragedy is that we never got to see the Jayhawk Owens Era in Minnesota.
  5. I've always liked his abililty and potential. Hopefully he can keep from p*ssing anybody off in the bars of Ft. Meyers this spring.
  6. '65 was the first Twins team I was aware of, my first baseball memory, there in Mrs. Loerch's 1st grade class on the ND plains. Aren't those kid memories great, in the sense that, well, we didn't win this one, but we'll get the next one and the one after that.... Heh... It's tight, but I gotta go with 65 as the top. 69 probably second, and 67 and 70 right there as well. And then.... well, 77 was a blip in a long, flat line, but we started cranking up again in 84, and you could see it coming. There's my synopsis of the early years. It might be coloured by the mist of sweet memory, but keep in mind, that 1965 was also the year the Yankees began to SUCK, BIG TIME, and for a long time, (until Reggie came along). So there's that, too.
  7. Will The Twins Get Their Postseason SP? No.
  8. Wow! An athletic prepster! With any luck, he could turn out to be another Keoni Cavaco! 👍
  9. As a boomer-era relic, this is entirely confusing for me. I saw this on Espn this morning (HK time), and still didn't understand what it all meant- this was the telling paragraph in their report: Espn report- amazon deal "What about MLB in 2024 and beyond? An attorney for Diamond asserted in bankruptcy court that the company will broadcast all the games and honor all the rights fees for nine of the teams in its portfolio: the Tigers, Marlins, Royals, Brewers, Rays, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels and Atlanta Braves. There are three others, the attorney said, in talks about restructured contracts. The names weren't disclosed, but those three, according to sources, are the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins (the Twins are essentially a free agent; their contract with Diamond expired at the end of the 2023 season)." I still don't know what it all means for the Twins. All I do know is, I've had mlb.tv for many years, and I'm pissed off when they decide to broadcast on Apple and I can't watch what I've already paid for.
  10. Any Frankenstein movie would tell you that. One turn of the screw and everything's fine! 😂
  11. I just came across this today as background while marking papers.... Interesting concept- do you think it would include propects, too, or straight up?
  12. Clevinger is still out there, ain't he? I wouldn't be opposed to taking a flyer on Trevor Bauer either. Make the Twinks the Mlb answer to the old Oakland Raiders.
  13. My very first live Twins game- actually 2- Aug. 9th double header. My family journeyed from Bismarck to visit our old neighbors in the Cities, and they treated us to the double-dip! Swept by the Swingin' A's that day, to dip to a mere 29 games above .500. 😅 Pat Dobson outdueled 19-yr-old Bert in game 1, and ex-Twin Don Mincher cracked a couple of taters off Kaat to win the second. I don't know, that program might still be in a storage box somewhere. I remember keeping score, and going over the whole thing again and again in those younger days. It was a beautiful summer afternoon, with evening shadows starting to lengthen in the old Met as the game wound down. Just a magical day at the ballpark. That truly was an outstanding, powerful team, one for the ages. I do think it was maybe the best Twinks team ever. I also remember how much it burned to get swept by the hated O's AGAIN, and how every Orioles baseball card my friends and I had wound up between the spokes of our bikes. Thanks for posting this! It was a great jog down memory lane!
  14. Hey, I see Garv-sauce is available! 😅
  15. Likewise! I wonder where my photos of that night might be.... I went to maybe 25-30 games that year, but of course was priced out of the playoffs. But working at the U of M, so watched that clincher at Stub and Herb's in Dinkytown! And that Darryl Evans pickoff! That play with Correa and Sonny reminded me of it today! It was truly magical. Let's keep it going, boys!
  16. We said a little prayer listening to the 9th on our morning walk past the temple... 🙏
  17. Diekman in!!! Time to own him yet again, White Sox or Rays, we OWN this guy! Come on, lads!
  18. Yep. It wasn't long until somebody uncorked a Snapper Melt-down Inning™.
  19. That's ridiculous. Get this game over. Cleveland can do it, of course, but let's not clown around from our end!
  20. Just now checking in from stormy HK-- Reposting my comment from yesterday, as it seems we're off to a good start! **It would have been sweet to get a sweep. But we really smacked the Rangers around in the space of only 2 weeks- that's not easy to do against a quality hitting club. Now, let's go into Cleveland and BURY those guys. This time, I won't be satisfied with anything less than total annihilation. 💪😆** Hahahahahahahaaaaaa Giolito! We owned him as a Sox, and now as a Guardie! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
