  1. The iconic Hing Kong Sevens rugby tournament is a MASSIVE event every year, drawing thousands of fans from all over the world. And amongst 40,000 revelers of various states of dress and inebriation, who did I japen to meet? Paul from Windsor, Ont., sporting the sweetest T ever!20240407_162544.heic
  2. I tuned in to the Brewers/Mets game to check out all the Rhys Hoskins hullaballoo - whole lotta nuthin'. But who was on the mound? Old Friend Michael (Gulfa) Tonkin! Heh... the Mets announcers even had a chortle over one of my favorite nicknames-- "Tonkin pitched for the Twins 5 years, then there was a Gulf-- until he returned with the Braves." <barely audible chortling> "So that's how it all started..." <more chortling> He blew down Yelich, then a walk, hulllaballoo, and a couple of ground outs- so he had a good inning! **Oops- just noticed he succeeded Jorge Lopez- who gave up a run in his inning. Old Friends galore!
  3. Catching up on the mlbtv here on my Hong Kong Good Friday morning. Omg, Royce.... Ain't it just the way of the Twinks? Bux, Royce, two of the finest young talents in the game, and neither can stay on the field. 😢 I had to check the Baseball Reference page for Cole Ragans, whom I didn't know. Heh... one of the "similar pitchers at age 25?" Adelberto Mejia! Now there's a blast from the past! Cheers to the boys for opening with a chicken dinner! Or, chicken breakfast in my case.
  4. That Tropicana nightmare has always made the Metrodome look positively pastoral. What a sheer sterile nightmare, and practically empty even with winning teams there. Plus it's in the Tampa area, no reason at all to go there, unless it's for strawberries.
  5. So, not signed. Welp, there goes the pennant, then, ya.
  6. And dang, it looks like the Keoni Cavaco Era gets pushed back another year, too.
  7. Hmmm..... I seem to remember a squeezably soft power hitter that just wouldn't conform to TK's "go the other way" approach. I think he moved on to the Red Sox and did OK after that... 🤔
  8. Get. Him. Now.
  9. Paddack, Mahle, and now DeCaf. Ffs, Falvine... Every box score I see with Encarnacion-Strand and Steer, (and soon Chase Petty) I gnash my molars to stubs.
  10. I'd be down with old Central foes Lorenzen or Clevinger- think they might have some extra incentive vs their old clubs? Although, I'm also down with Bauer.
  11. Hammys get trickier as the years go by. Come back too soon, and it's a long time out.
  12. And the mighty toothpick, from the Royals glory days-- He always seemed to come up big against the Twinks. Sad to see him go.
  13. A lot of great candidates for this prestigious award! But my pick, with one of the great all-time baseball names, is young Willie Joe Garry Jr!
  14. No, just, no. Too high a price for "Buxton insurance." Me no like.
  15. Did we do something wrong? Why would this be imposed on the Twins? It's like your dentist calling and telling you, "Congrats! You're a finalist for a root canal!"
  16. Sucked losing Damian Miller to AZ. But then, there was this Mauer guy who came along... The real tragedy is that we never got to see the Jayhawk Owens Era in Minnesota.
  17. I've always liked his abililty and potential. Hopefully he can keep from p*ssing anybody off in the bars of Ft. Meyers this spring.
  18. '65 was the first Twins team I was aware of, my first baseball memory, there in Mrs. Loerch's 1st grade class on the ND plains. Aren't those kid memories great, in the sense that, well, we didn't win this one, but we'll get the next one and the one after that.... Heh... It's tight, but I gotta go with 65 as the top. 69 probably second, and 67 and 70 right there as well. And then.... well, 77 was a blip in a long, flat line, but we started cranking up again in 84, and you could see it coming. There's my synopsis of the early years. It might be coloured by the mist of sweet memory, but keep in mind, that 1965 was also the year the Yankees began to SUCK, BIG TIME, and for a long time, (until Reggie came along). So there's that, too.
  19. Will The Twins Get Their Postseason SP? No.
  20. Wow! An athletic prepster! With any luck, he could turn out to be another Keoni Cavaco! 👍
