  1. Just thinkin' how nice a swap with the Rays it was for their 1/2 season Nelson Cruz rental.
  2. Big props to Big Joe. 7 strong! And there's my new favorite Twin, Sonny Gray, going over stuff in an intense conversation with Joe after he came out of the game. Polanco again lifting the Twinks to another level with his play on both sides of the ball. He came back at just the right time!
  3. I haven't caught too many games yet, but yep, he makes me long for Sano.
  4. Sonny Gray is a bulldog. A stone-cold killer. I love that guy, how he battles. Moran is no Mystery to anyone right now. Thanks, dude, for forcing our closer to get up and get warm on a frigid night. He might be gassed for tomorrow now. And thank God Polanco came back with his hitting shoes on. The rest of this lineup needs some serious coffee or something. They gotta wake up, but quick.
  5. Nice job, Twins. You managed to squeak one out against the KC Royals of the NL. Bailey Ober showing he belongs, and maybe Jorge can shame the Polar Vortex of Buxton, Correa, and Miranda into bringing an actual bat to the plate instead of a loaf of French bread.
  6. Geez Louise... This game was like a slow-motion Heimlich Maneuver. And Jovani "No Mystery" Moran, sheesh....
  7. Living offshore for the past years, I've been a mlb.tv customer, for better or worse- mostly worse. But I wonder how or if this Bally Sports bankruptcy I've heard about will affect the Twinkie-cast. Anybody with knowledge of this? Bueller? Bueller? https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/apr/03/local-broadcasters-are-crucial-for-mlb-now-many-are-in-trouble
  8. Pagan's leash should be whatever distance is measured between Target Field and St. Paul.
  9. Add me to the old school reader brigade, I keep meaning to watch the video logs when not at work, but haven't remembered to do so thus far. Nice to see a familiar name in the box today- Mike "Gulfa" Tonkin, long-time Twins AAAA pitcher. Man, he's a bulldog still plugging away, and I wish him well. (Even tho we lit him up a bit today). From Japan to DR to Mexico, to the Long Island Ducks, and now with the Braves, he's been all over the world, working hard to keep his dream alive. Hats off to him.
  10. Thank you for this series! It's nice to take a jog down memory lane with these guys. The Twins were an AL powerhouse throughout the 60s, (I curse the Red Sox and Orioles to this day), until age and injury, and Calvin Griffith's cheapness led the team into the bleak wilderness of the 70s and early 80s. My family made the trip from ND to the Cities for a short summer holiday in 1970, and my birthday present that year was a doubleheader against the A's on August 9th (back when doubleheaders were a regular part of the schedule)! Mincher went 5 for 7 that day, smacked a big double off of 19 year old Bert Blyleven, hit 2 taters off of Jim Kaat in the second game, and pretty much ruined my birthday present all by himself. And he was a TWIN!! How could he?!? It's great to read these articles, and hear those names come alive again- the ones who sounded like gods on the crackly transistor from the Jamestown station in between farm reports. Ahhh, sweet memory... Bob Allison, anyone? Rich Rollins, or Rich Reese? Ha, there are tons of 'em.
  11. I herby predict the Twinks will finally rid themselves of the BOFTY (Bend Over For The Yankees) syndrome, and also pound the Astros to win all three series. 6-3! Then get swept by the Marlins and Nats.
  12. Post script: and while I was long part of UND Rugby, I was not present on the early 80s trip with the notorious pit stop at the Rothsay Diner.
  13. I saw Dave pitch at the old Met on a handful of occasions, making the trek down from ND. Even years past his Twins tenure, if not a stop at the cafe, there was always at least a quick viewing of the Rothsay Prairie Chicken from up and down the off ramp, and I'd remark to whomever was traveling with me, "That's where Dave Goltz is from." Whether they knew of him or not.
  14. Ffs, can we just leave Pagan in SD? Just maybe not tell him what time the airport bus is arriving?
  15. Kepler, Pagan, Thielbar, Megill. Not a fan of any of these whimps. Not anymore.
  16. What's wrong with Polanco? What's wrong with pretty much all of the Minnesota Twins? ?
  17. Jeepers, catching up after- what's up with all the injuries! Royce, what hard, hard luck! And Gray goes down today too? And Bux? Where did he get tagged? Hopefully he's not banged up again, too! Good stuff from Gordo and Larnach- single, double, HR- wow! Think the only way that big lad could get a triple though, is if he breaks a couple of tackles between 2nd and 3rd... ?
  18. Good old Central, back on track. Maybe another arm wouldn't hurt...
  19. He has me sitting on the edge of my seat yelling at him to throw anything, at all, like sometime today...
  20. Well, he's surely improved our time of possession. ?
  21. A good observation. But Gawd Almighty, how many more seasons does Lewis need to be held back? Miranda (thankfully) hasn't had to deal with anywhere near the same kind of setbacks Lewis has.
  22. For God's sake. Everybody and their brother are either hurt or in Mendoza-range, and there've been a run of Molitor-level lineups of late. But sure, let's take the one guy who's actually producing and exciting the fans, and stuff him back east. It's not like he wouldn't be learning anything watching CC every day up close, and spelling him at SS when necessary. Oh, and let's take that other promising kid who's utterly looking lost, flailing at the plate, and costing us chances to win actual games, and keep him up on this side of the river. Because, let's not try to win any MLB games along the way, or anything.
