  1. I really like this trade. Michael Taylor and Byron Buxton are so fast, the Twins can just use these two players in the OF and use the third OF position for a lefty reliever, who can mow down lefthanded batters and the starting pitcher can remain in the game in the OF, with the lefty reliever remaining in the game somewhere in the OF when right handed batters are at bat. Alternate the pitchers. How's this for thinking outside the box?
  2. I wonder if tweaking/changing a pitcher's habitual violent pitching motion, could add to the pitcher's injury risk? Do the muscles and ligaments grow accustomed (get built up) to being used in violent ways using one certain motion or several certain motions and specific ways? And do minor changes in this violent set of variable motions, sometimes result in injuries to these ligaments and muscles?
  3. Best wishes to Aaron. Sounds like he is being very mature and reasonable about his career choice.
  4. I must respectfully disagree that Sano has always been able to "command the strike zone". To me it appeared that the strike zone commanded Sano.
  5. I hope he is another Sonny Gray. I'd be happy with that.
  6. I will really miss Arraez. I stopped doing everything else and concentrated on the game when he came to bat, He is a joy to watch play the game of baseball. I wish him and his family the very best. I hope he has a great career and earns a ton of money and I hope he is given the respect due the American League Batting Champion for 2022. Good luck Mi Amigo.
  7. I do not have any evidence to prove that a pitcher is less likely to be injured by pitching in relief rather than starting the game as a starter. However many have posted that the Twins do not want to risk moving Duran to starter from reliever. I wonder if this is true.
  8. The danger is that starting Duran may work until he is injured. Then the Twins have no starter and have lost the best reliever in the game today.
  9. Which of these prospects/players would you give the Mets for catcher, Kevin Parada: 1) Brooks Lee; 2) Luis Arraez; 3) Max Kepler; 4) Jorge Polanco; or 5) Trevor Larnach? Personally I would trade any one of these 5 for Parada. What do you think?
  10. Really well written article about a provocative subject. Thanks Steven.
  11. Interesting point. I may ask my friend, Mark Davidson, about this. He was on the 87 team.
  12. I agree Bly. If I heard Gardy or Rocco say this once, I have heard it a hundred times after losses: "It's a long season". Baloney. It is one day at a time, one game at a time, one inning at a time, one pitch at a time. The games in April count as much as the "September pennant race" games.
  13. Al, Your points are well taken. You are correct according to all of the major prospect rankings. We Twins' fans tend to rank our Twins' prospects higher than any of the major prospect lists and rankings. Why is that? I think it is similar to parents who erroneously think their children are the greatest athletes on any team, because they love their children and are biased. We Twins' fans are also biased in our beliefs about the Twins' prospects.
  14. Wonderful post Doc. Well written. Is your doctorate in literature? Thank you.
  15. What about letting Farmer catch in Spring Training to see how that works out?
  16. Thanks Nick. This was a really "nice" article. And you know what... I believe you are correct. Not everyone wants to raise a family in the hustle and bustle of a big city. I sure don't. I'm a small town guy, who enjoys the slow pace and the friendly smiles and casual talk in a small town. Life does not have to be a rush to the finish. For me, I'm happier with a pleasant stroll.
  17. Who will DH? A mishmash of whoever is healthy or the American League batting champion?
  18. Why is no one on this thread talking about Arraez playing at DH? Somebody has to DH 4 to 5 AB each game. Every game. It would save Arraez's legs, plus he would be available to play 1B when needed. I understand the concept of trading when one's value is high...but if a team uses that theory, then it trades its best performers every year. How foolish that would be! The team that does that will never be a consistent winner. If the player is good (wins a batting championship), is good in the clubhouse, loved by the fans, why trade him? Keep him for what he brings to the team. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
  19. Who do the Twins have, who is not an everyday position player with an already designated position, that would be better at DH against right- handed pitching? Wallner, Larnach, Jeffers, Celestino, Farmer, Gordon? Just play Arraez at DH and occasionally let him play 1B or 2B in a pinch.
  20. The question is, "Did the Twins improve the roster so far, over the winter offseason?" It is the Twins at the end of the 2022 season vs. the Twins now. Have the Twins improved over the winter? At the end of 2022 the Twins did not have a SS. Period. The Twins only had Jeffers at catcher, and no other prospects for catcher. Period. The OF was in shambles due to injuries. Two key pitchers Maeda and Mahle are closer to being healthy. Kirilloff is closer to being healthy. Lewis and Paddock are closer to being healthy. Martin had a good fall season. And Buck is back. Hell yes the Twins are better now than when the 2022 season ended.
  21. h2 thank you for working John Steinbeck's writing into your response. That was awesome.
  22. Really good article backed up with detailed and understandable graphics. Thank you.
  23. Why do you believe this? I assume you were sarcastic in your answer.
