All is not lost. It is still early August and the Twins are tied for first place and are on pace to set a new MLB record for home runs. The Twins have the easiest remaining schedule of any of the major league contenders. There will be many victories over the Faded Sox, KC and the Sunshine Band and the Detroit Kittens. You must admit this is way more fun than last year.

I saw Clevinger smiling at Cruz also. Cruz was also smiling. I thought they were joking with each other or something funny had happened with the ump before Cruz was hurt.

My eyes tell me that Sano's plate approach has improved the last month or so. Do the stats bare this out?

How about a fine every time a pitcher walks the lead-off batter. Say $500. That may help stop these stupid lead-off walks.

I will miss Jaylin Davis, because he is from North Carolina (Greensboro and played at ASU). However it is a better fit for him with the Giants. Best wishes for a successful career to Jaylin. That being said, Sam Dyson is just what the doctor ordered for the Twinkies this year and next. Nobody walks but the fans walking into Target Field.

Well really a disservice to only 24 guys...since at least one of the 25 players in the clubhouse will be traded or cut to make room for the superstar we are going to be trading for.

This is beautiful...The Indians trade the "unusual" Mr. Bauer for (drum-roll please) the "unusual" Mr. Puig. I can't wait to see what happens next. Fights, damaged drones, balls thrown out of the park. I bet there was/will be so much "unusual" drama in the Indians clubhouse that Francona will resign and write a best seller. I know I would buy the book. In fact I think I will troll the "Let's Go Tribe" website.

Both Minor and Ray are lefties. Minor is 31 years old and he is signed through next year, and Ray is not. Ray, who will be 28 in October, will be a 3 month rental based on a $6,000,000 annual contract. How is that prorated? . Minor will get either $9,500,000 or $9,633,000 next year, depending on whether his $1,000,000 signing bonus has already been paid in full or not. Ray has more tolerance for walks than I do. Of course Ray will cost less, due to the expiration of his contract this year, but we will probably need a starting pitcher or two next year. Maybe sign Ray cheaply and then sign a free agent in the off season (possibly Ray). I would be happy with either one, but prefer Minor to hold down the big innings. I have confidence that the Bomba Bats will score runs in the playoffs. EDIT: I stand corrected. I have been informed that Ray is arb eligible in 2020.. Thank you. I still prefer Minor's pitching style...but would be happy with either being signed. Please don't kick me out of the club for my mistake.

Personally I would rather have three $11,000,000 per year free agent, flame throwing, relievers, whose motto is "Nobody walks but the fans into Target Field". But then I'm fiscally conservative and I like to spread out the risk, rather than lump it all into one 36 year old pitcher. (By the way, we all understand that Mauer's signing was different...younger, a Minnesota boy, the face of the franchise for years...they had to sign him) It is how insurance companies were first formed, by looking at the statistics of wooden sailing ships successfully sailing to and from the New World. It was a dangerous journey. So the ship owners combined forces and agreed that if one ship sank, the others would share the cost of the loss. Give me three more good youngish relievers and if one fails, maybe the other two will be successful. I don't want to put a fourth of my assets into one 36 year old wooden ship.
