Moises Gomez is a name to watch. I met him last year at Elizabethton. A friendly young man. Before the game he was swinging a plastic bat and hitting plastic balls into a booth designed for the fans to smack some plastic balls into he booth. I asked if he was a SS? I thought he was someone else. He smiled and said, "No, I pitch today." Now he is in high A and has been selected by the Twins to go to the Arizona Fall League. Good luck Moises.

I wish Rosario had swung his "patented base hit swing" in the first inning with Polanco on third and Cruz on first.

What Has Arraez Played Himself Into?
tarheeltwinsfan commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
Where does Kiriloff play if Sano is at 1B? Kepler, Buck and Rosario seem pretty reasonable in the OF. These are good problems to have, aren't they?- 9 comments

I would go with a 12 man pitching staff. There are rest days in the playoffs. I would want all three of Cave, Arraez, and Adrianza. By the end of September, the IL may take someone currently on the Twins active roster. I hope not, but it is a possibility.

I enjoyed reading this edition of Blue Wahoo Bites so much...that I read it again twice just to make me feel better. I was feeling depressed after having read about the Twinkies "not very pretty" loss last night. I'm better now, thank you.

Good explanation of how two changes have made a huge difference. Habits are things done repeatedly. To change a habit, do something repeatedly a different way. The grip was easy for Sano to change, however getting used to it and swinging and actually connecting using the new grip, took multiple sessions in the batting cage, and live pitching, I am sure. I wonder specifically what drills Sano did over and over to change his bat swing to eliminate the little tipping of the bat toward the pitcher? Any ideas how a coach gets a hitter to change that "hitch", other than yell at him when he did it wrong and praise him when he did it correctly?

Good article. Extremely timely. I have 3 comments to make about this topic: 1) Why would a struggling started be expected to do any better in the bullpen? 2) I would emphasize "no walks" over the speed of the pitched baseball. I'd look for a reliever who will not walk anyone. If the pitcher pitches strikes, the odds are 7.5 out of 10 that the batter will make an out, whereas if the pitcher throws too many balls, the odds are 100 % that the batter walks to first base. Period. 3) I would look for a lefty who has extreme success pitching to left-handed hitters.

Good article. Very relevant. I would like to request you write a second similar article near the end of September. However I don;t think the Twins will be playing many teams with winning records the rest of the year, Still the Twins need to rest the starters and at the same time win the division. The last 6 weeks of regular season play will be interesting to watch.

All is not lost. It is still early August and the Twins are tied for first place and are on pace to set a new MLB record for home runs. The Twins have the easiest remaining schedule of any of the major league contenders. There will be many victories over the Faded Sox, KC and the Sunshine Band and the Detroit Kittens. You must admit this is way more fun than last year.
