  1. I really like Ryu. In fact I think he can be signed for less than the other two. With no loss of a draft pick, I believe.
  2. If I were the Twins, I would do either one of these two proposed trades. It would give the Twins 2 years to win two World Series.
  3. It is no longer true that "He gone !" Instead, "He back...maybe".
  4. Exactly. And that is why the Twins won't sign him. Thank you for your gentle acceptance of my mistake. I did mean Gordan, instead of Goodman. . I had been at work since 7 am when I posted this at 6:30 pm. My day at work was too long. At least I was posting on TD when I was tired and error-prone, instead of drafting answers to my clients' lawsuits.
  5. Great article Tom. I vote no to signing Pineda unless the Twins get a larger discount plus a team option 2nd year. Pineda owes this to the Twins for what they did for him 2 years ago while he was healing and for Pineda letting the team down during a pennant race and for being out 39 games next year. I also do not want to trade Larnarch for Boyd. I like Boyd, but Larnach is going to be a solid hitter for 10 years. I like Jeffers, but he can be replaced in the Twins farm system, plus we have Garver. How about Jeffers and Goodman for Boyd?
  6. Maybe I missed him the 4 times I looked at this proposed 26 man roster,, but where is the 5 million dollar Perez?
  7. When does the minor league season end? The Red Wings last home game in 2020 is September 7, 2020. For most minor league teams the season ends the first week in September. The AAA Championship is mid September. Therefore there will be no minor league games to keep the minor league players "game ready" after the first week in September, unless the team is in a minor league playoff. What happens if a major league starting SS is injured September 15th or 20th? Where does that major league team get a replacement who is "game ready" How do they stay "game ready" with no games being played? How important is it to be "game ready" and what is required after a 2 week layoff?
  8. I would front load Rogers 4 year, 24 million contract...say 9,7, 5 and 3.
  9. Thanks Jeremy for a very interesting series of proposals. My only changes would be to sign Castro for 1 year instead of Vogt, and try very hard to trade Sano for multiple minor leaguers with upside, focusing on young power arms, fast center fielders and/or catchers with power. Move Polanco to 2B. Put Arraez at 3B. The IF defense is poor right now and it starts at SS. Sign Iglesias for 1 year at market value ( 3 million) with a team option for a second year for 2 million. He has no power, but makes contact and does not SO much. He is not spectacular at fielding but is above average and makes few mistakes.Let Gonzo, Garver and Adrianza share 1B. I'm not convinced that Jax needs a 40 man roster spot. And bring up Kirilloff in June.
  10. 1 year, incentive laden contract with a team option for a second year is the best way for the Twins to handle this unknown quantity. The Twins know Gibson's demeanor and his work ethic, but no one, and I do mean no one, can predict with certainty how he will hold up due to his disease, I don't care what "someone" said the Cleveland Clinic ( I assume a doctor who is a specialist in this disease and who has extensively examined Gibson and his health records and based on hundreds of other patients and consultation and medical studies) reported.
  11. Move his locker next to Cruz's locker. Problem solved.
  12. Why not sign coaches to multi year contracts with team buy-outs?
  13. What term would have been used if the Twins had chosen not to pay Cruz's option for 2020? I'm not arguing a point, I'm just trying to gets the term for when the team elects to sever a contract by not renewing the contract, or buys it out? Apparently, it would be incorrect for me to say that the team "opted out " of the contract in that scenario.
  14. Please tell me more about who can opt out...the player or the team? Who has the option to walk away from the contract? Is it unilateral with just one party?
  15. Intriguing concept. It makes sense for the Twins in several ways. 1) Win now; 2) Don't break the future bank by huge back end deals (hmmm, makes me think of our Congress...but then Congress can print money); 3) gives immediate rewards to the players plus security as they age plus an opt out (of course the team would want the opt out be unilateral with the team having the opt out... like Cruz's contract)..but the player will want the opt out control. Tell me more about the opt out options.
  16. McLain, Jenkins, Gooden, Blue and Hoyt. ( I had to look up the last two.)
  17. Congratulations to both of our Twins' Silver Sluggers. Well deserved honors.
