  1. Haven't started it yet, but a friend said "Your Honor" is pretty good, and I am a Bryan Cranston fan....
  2. Pohlad's buying price was $44M in 1984; current value estimate is $1.46B. Using those numbers, the value of the team has increased about $35M per year, for each and every year the Pohlads have owned it.
  3. Come on, we all know what the big acquisition/news will be; It will be that they got the team back on cable, which is kinda, almost, sorta, like adding a quality player; OK, maybe if they introduce a new, late season food item at Target Field as well.
  4. "View entire article" How do you view audio?
  5. If they don't get back on the tube, not even winning is going to make a difference. And if you think that it'll improve for the playoffs here's who has the broadcast rights for 2024: FOX, FS1, TBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and MLB Network. If you note, only Fox is a non-cable, non-subscription option.
  6. "This remains an area that is more Vikings than Twins and both the Wild and Timberwolves get good interest." Interesting point. Now the other 3 leagues are salary-cap leagues, so everyone (in theory) is operating on the same playing field. In the MLB, teams have a choice in how much/how hard they want to pursue a championship. Now, I know the readership here has long had the realization of how the Twins operate, and kind of stay 'grounded' in expectations, but what if the 'overall' fandom has come to that same conclusion; that the Twins priorities are just selling/profiting on 2 1/2- 3 hours of "entertainment", no different than a Monster Truck Rally or a Disney on Ice show, as opposed to "striving" to win a World Series?
  7. Out of their hands but injuries and 'iffy' play gives you: "Come out and see AK... er Miran... er Carlos....er Brooks...er hey it's Pablo Day (ooh, he's not doing so good right now either).... We've got new snacks!!!!"
  8. Another straw on the camel's back IMO, is not only did they cut payroll, they didn't sell upper deck seats (you know, the cheaper ones) for the 1st two months of the season. Did they think people would just willingly pay more? How many people saw that and said, 'OK, we'll look again after school's out'? How many tickets did that move cost them?
  9. Has Detmers had the requisite Tommy John surgery needed to join this team? Kinda sorta joking here, but I can just see the Twins make the trade, do their tinkering to add a few MPH and suddenly, the balky elbow appears..... eventually, you end up with a supposedly "fixed" pitcher, but with no controllable time left to see what you've got. Yeah, I know, you could talk yourself out of any trade this way, but the historical precedent is there....
  10. It's been drizzling in Golden Valley since a little before 6 this morning, so I guess we'll see. It'll be off and on all day according to this morning's weather. 12:10 start, a couple rain delays, finish up around 6:30-7 LOL.
  11. Yeah, looks like ICONs nationwide closed. Nice to see someone do a quick flip (and keep the employees). I was wondering what would they do with such a large, defined place, considering how many years that Toby Keith location has sat empty.
  12. Having fun watching Tulsa King. On a side note, I guess there's too much streaming as I got the following e-mail this afternoon: St. Louis Park ShowPlace ICON at the West End has ended operations effective today. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to our guests for your unwavering support, loyalty, and enthusiasm over the many years. For those guests that have purchased advance tickets from the ShowPlace ICON website or app for showings after July 1, your tickets have been automatically refunded to the credit card used for purchase. All advance tickets purchased through Fandango or Atom Tickets are being refunded directly from those sites. Depending on your credit card bank processing, please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to show on your account. Thank you
  13. I'll take dry heat over the soup kitchen I stepped out into at 6 this morning all day, every day.
  14. So, since they are playing up the "Ripple Effect", shouldn't there be a return of the "Wave" on those nights?
  15. We have a ton of flower gardens and we started letting the milkweeds that popped up from time to time grow. So about 5 years ago we started growing Monarchs.
  16. I understand wanting to get the games in, but going from a rainout rescheduled to a day where they are more or less telling people to be careful and stay inside due to the extreme weather doesn't exactly seem 'fair'.
  17. Oh, isn't that the truth. I work in R&D at Seagate, and the number of staff meetings where the arguments essentially come down to the designers: : "the data doesn't match the models, we don't trust the data, you're doing something wrong"; the hardware test engineers: "the data is fine, your model doesn't take into account X, Y, and Z". "you're wrong". "no, you are".
  18. They asked players; players don't pay contracts; I think now that the contract(s) have started and he's got some time with the team, perhaps the question asked of GMs/owners should be: "if Carlos Correa became available to your team at no cost other than fulfilling his current contract, do you want him"? What do you feel the % of 'takers' may be? I think that gives you a more clear answer (and yes, I realize that wasn't the question asked, I'm just surmising).
  19. I love it. This shirt popped up in one of the ads posted on this site:
  20. Cousins tampering resolution. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/atlanta-falcons-kirk-cousins-tampering-punishment/ Seems a bit like a "well we gotta fine them something" kind of thing.
