  1. I'm looking forward to Good Omens next year.....best cast ever. And Gaiman is the writer/runner, so any changes should still be good.
  2. Wasnt I replying to a post that asked what happens if they go get a legit OF, and Buxton is good too? Of course I don't move him for no good reason....
  3. Put Buxton in LF or RF, problem solved. Move Sano to 1B/DH, problem solved. That said, I doubt they acquire an OF, but I could see trying out Donaldson, who can probably play 1B/DH if Sano is good again......
  4. Still better than this team the last four years, record wise........but sure, I"m not arguing to stop there, but it would be nice to at least be that good.....
  5. Also, I'd do the QO for sure if they can't agree on a number (assuming he's good again).
  6. Why would you do anything with Berrios and his contract right now? Pitchers get hurt, a lot, and he's here for several more years.....it would be bad to do anything that wasn't a terrible deal for Jose..... Odo? Nothing at this point. He's a fine 3 or so, probably, but they might be able to replace that with Thorpe or Romero or Mejia, maybe. Or a FA signing. Gibson? I'd offer him a 3 year extension, because he's getting better as time goes on, and they need a veteran who struggled then got better, imo. But, if they don't, I wouldn't be upset or surprised. Pineda hasn't been healthy for over a year, and people keep penciling him in. Mind. Boggling. Berrios is the obvious choice for pitcher of the year....
  7. League median catcher as a rookie.....not bad. Not awesome, but not bad. If they would play him at DH and 1B, and let him hit more, when not catching, I'd guess he'd be a 2 WAR player, give or take. That's a valuable player, but not a star. If every rookie they had did that, this team would be the A's.......
  8. Where did it say give up on them? It said, be prepared in case they flop again.....NO ONE is saying give up on Buxton, and few are saying it on Sano. But, the FO should have a legit plan for a backup 3B.....they appear set at CF backup for now (though I'd be good if they followed the Brewer's path and added a legit OF to the mix somehow). But no one, not in that article, or most other places, is saying punt on these guys. But, please, at least have a backup 3B available.......
  9. I agree with this choice......my concern going forward is the head injury history....does he need to move to 1B/DH more, and catch less? Maybe the OF occasionally? Has he ever played 3B? I think he's a legit decent/good hitter. If he can catch, DH/1B and sometimes OF, he's got real value. Cave is definitely in the mix for RF/LF/CF, depending what Kepler and Buxton do...... And, imo, Astudillo should be the 2nd catcher, in a similar role to Garver. It's a crime he didn't catch the first time he was up, and that he wasn't up earlier.....
  10. can't. tell. if. serious. He's 180 degrees from what the team needs.
  11. Who is Manny Machado's best friend? He needs to be interviewed, at least.....
  12. ha! Either I typed that wrong, or you read that wrong......and I hope I'm wrong.
  13. They have discussed other roles for him.....is that awkward? I'd think that would be awkward....
  14. My money is on: 1. Phillies 2. White Sox 3. Yankees 4. Dodgers 100. Twins
  15. Given that the Phillies had a historically bad defense, I think you are correct......
  16. I agree on Gibson, with Garver a close 2nd......which begs the question of why Garver didn't play more last year..... I predict Buxton wins next year....
  17. We don't know that yet......but I agree, it seems unlikely he's a future star. But neither is Mauer......
  18. Austin is 25, Mauer is 35. One can play 140 games a year, one has not played over 100 at 1B hardly at all...... And yes, we may be sick of Austin by then, but he also makes the league minimum, and there is no emotional attachment by the team/fans, so he can be cut or traded or whatever...... They literally could not be less alike in terms of their future and their cost (both money and opportunity).
  19. Last off season the Brewers went and got good / very good MLB players...... I'd rather the Twins follow that model, than sign a bunch of mediocre, just above replacement level, players. Either that or just go young and move on. Mauer does nothing for me. Adams is just a dh/1b.....they don't need more of those, not with Austin and Rooker and maybe Sano.......
  20. Signing a 1b/dh only international FA, when they had the most (or third, can't recall) money.....bad decision. They had a run of : Gordon, Jay, Stewart all in the top 10.....there is still hope for Gordon, and squinty hope for Stewart....I doubt Jay pitches one pitch for the Twins. Before Buxton, they had Levi Michael. That's 4 of 5 first round picks that are not so good yet...... But, they have to do better....much better. The last few drafts certainly look better than Jay or Stewart ever did....so that's good. But I don't think it's true that they did a good job of identifying picks.....
  21. Given the record over the last decade.....something isn't working. That seems pretty objective to me. In context, they've failed for some time.
