  1. I'll ask again....can we expect wins next year, or is it "too many sophomores"? I'm asking when we can expect wins, since we can't expect them this year.
  2. Apparently he wants mauer on the team. I'm already losing confidence. And potentially the FO does also. I just don't know why I should trust them at this point.
  3. wearingwhitesoxinboston 1:07 Thoughts on the Baldelli hire? Like Cora and Roberts, he was an average player with bench coaching but no managerial experience. Is this a copy-cat move by the Twins or was he the best option? I am skeptical. Keith Law 1:07 Cora had managerial experience. Ron 1:07 Thoughts o n the Baldelli hire? Sounds analytical, young, has coaching and instructing experience and worked in the front office. Bad hire, good hire or "Meh"? But hasn't managed. Keith Law 1:09 I discussed this on the BBTN podcast this morning - I know Rocco well, and think very highly of him. He's very bright and curious. He's more than just open to new ideas and will work well with the stats guys. I believe he'll be a good developmental manager. But as you said, he hasn't managed, and that's a negative regardless of who the candidate is. I hope he finds someone for his staff who has plenty of in-game experience and can help him learn that part of the game quickly; the track record of no-experience managers is poor.
  4. As for me, the FBI just left me a voicemail that I was about to be arrested. I just have to call them back.... Given that, seems like I should clean up my behavior.....
  5. Hey Brock....any stocks you like right now? As for the pick, seems to check the boxes. Who knows? We'll know a lot more in 18 months or so.
  6. What does any of that have to do with this coach? And, where did anyone here say Rose Bowl?
  7. Don't look at your stocks if you don't like price drops! But, if you have cash....NVIDIA is nearing its 52 week low (ouch for me!). Lots of great companies on sale this week! The market goes up, and it goes down, but over the history of the market, it goes up over long periods of time.......regardless of the ups and downs in any given day/week/month/year. Lots of good companies on sale right now. PS, glad I sold a few weeks ago to get enough money for a down payment and remodeling! I sold about 30% of my assets near peak. Lucky me.
  8. All these threads, and I still can't tell who you want as manager.....
  9. I think this is a hard question, given that I've never been in a clubhouse...... I think the most important factor is leadership, off the field leadership. These guys are together for more than half the year, and making sure that everyone is in the best possible mental state to succeed is key, imo. After that? I'd like someone that is open to new ideas, but has ideas of his/her own and will stand up for the ones that matter most to her. A willingness to play rookies, even if there is a vet around. Knowledge that players aren't done in terms of development when they come up, so put them in situations to help them succeed. Seth's list is great, btw.....
  10. That's my point....does anyone think the MN OF is fine? I don't.....too many questions, not enough answers....but the post I was responding to with that post, clearly said the MN OF is fine...
  11. I loved JT as a trade candidate last year, less so this year.....he only has 2 years left on his deal. If I'm trading above average players for different players, I don't want to have only 2 years on the deal.......there are just too many questions about this team for that. Now, if they trade for a guy like this, and sign some great FAs....that's different.
  12. I think the point was that Kepler could play CF with more certainty than Cave or Buxton at this point.....not about corner OFs.
  13. That would be great. I just don't have that list of FAs in front of me that looks enticing, and it is really hard to predict trades. I'm all for better talent, all for it. 100% for it.
  14. Put Garver at 1B, with Austin at DH (and sometimes 1b), with Astudillo and Castro as the primary catchers.
  15. Pretty sure you missed the point......the Brewers didn't say "meh, our OF is fine".....they upgraded it with some certainty compared to what they had. None of that has anything to do with your post (i agree, they should have traded for pitching at the deadline).
  16. Skeptical is probably more fair than cynical......kind of have to have different outcomes to change thoughts.... for those saying it is all freshman, do we have to punt on expecting wins next year, because it will be all sophomores?
  17. I bet Brewers fans are glad their GM didn't think this way....
  18. Not even competitive with a winless team.
  19. I don't think people have realized how much batting averages are down across the league..... Some of these posts are suggesting he's not good enough unless he's a top thirty player across all of baseball. Sure, he needs more hitting, but he's not that far off
  20. Then he's an above average player. If they had nine guys otr up that much war, they'd be thrilled.
  21. What doesn't exist? Defense is calculated for first base. There just aren't that many opportunities to make plays others rarely do. The data is readily available.
  22. People that watch every play, and every throw and dig, year after year, disagree with you. This isn't random posters....
  23. For example, the Yankees had five hitters put up more WAR than that. Were all the other players backups, not good enough to start for a great team? The Brewers had four. Teams don't have nine starters that put up very good war.
  24. Kepler was 13th in RF war. If he's a fourth outfielder, there must not be as many teams as I think there are.
