  1. You want to root for a wife beater? I don't. If they trade for him, they lose me.
  2. Kepler was league median in RF among all teams.....I don't understand why people don't like him as an OF.......Of course, that was largely driven by very good defense, so I understand why people want more hitting......but I'm not sure replacing him with a bad fielder who hits more is a better idea. I'd rather they just let him try to keep hitting.....and he can play CF, just in case Buxton can't hit at all again....
  3. Very well written and probably mostly correct article. Nicely done.
  4. The Rockies are not trading Gray. Why would they? I had that dream this year, when they sent him down, but it isn't happening. But I wish it would!
  5. two more years of not trying to win? I hope not. I hope that is not the plan. If so, just trade Gibson this off season.
  6. I have read that before.....but when Amazon was "too hot" about 1000% ago, people were very wrong. Buy the best companies, with niches and moats, and make money......no matter how "over priced" they may appear. IMO, of course, this is not actual financial advice....
  7. There are reasons for optimism, but then "everyone" thought the Twins would hit this year, and pitching would be the question.....so I'm not sure I'm as far as Ted yet. Let's see how healthy Pineda is, then we can dream.
  8. I'll post this here..... Gus Johnson 1:31 Aside from Kershaw (who will probably resign with the Dodgers?), Patrick Corbin looks like the only high-impact FA pitcher. Would you give him a Yu Darvish-type contract (6 yr/126M)? Keith Law 1:31 I would. I agree on Kershaw, and that Corbin is the best 'real' FA pitcher on the market.
  9. I too hope we don't hear again next year about what great bargains, and low risk guys, they signed, and how smart it is not to actually improve your team for more than 1 year at a time......
  10. What is left to tear down? Gibson? The OF is not old, Sano, Polanco and Garver.... Austin. I mean, what is left to tear down?
  11. What expiring assets are left? And why not buy one really good free agent, that will be here for the next four or five years, so you aren't trying to fill as many holes when Lewis and kiriloff are here? And, I don't think I said I'd try to buy a whole team..... That's not going to happen.
  12. Great job by Gonsalves! And some of the hitters I want back too.....
  13. On Corbin....MLB.com is predicting around a 150MM or more contract....since he's younger than Darvish....
  14. Why would you want Santana? Like, I have no idea why.....why would you want Dozier? Seriously, bringing back the same roster isn't good enough, not even a little. If they aren't going to add serious talent, just call up Rooker and Wade and Gordon......and start the process.
  15. ? Isn't he signed for a couple more years? Not sure I understand....
  16. Lots and lots more talent...... 1B, 2B, SS, CF, DH, and at least one more SP they can count on....oh, and 2-3 RPs. So, ya, lots of things..... but if I have to pick one thing to add, it would be a SP that is a 2/3 for the next 4 years.....give or take. That would be huge for this team. Kiriloff and Lewis are coming, as are Rooker and Weil and Gordon. What they really need is a really good starting pitcher (or 2 very good RPs).
  17. mike sixel 1:10 Odds we see Kiriloff in MN next year at some point? thanks! Kiley McDaniel 1:11 On this trajectory, he would be deserving of at least a September look. May depend on competitive situation to see if he actually does get a look
  18. that's great! That means your best hitters are getting less at bats. that would be awesome for the pitching team. awesome.
  19. Lead of hitter hits first so he gets more at bats, not because teams care if he hits first in an inning. Really, it's the inverse of the opener theory. The idea is to make it less likely your primary guy faces the best players three times, not to guarantee it.
  20. He's a free agent.... They can sign him again if they want. Why keep him for a lost season? And, I'm guessing that was the best offer...
  21. He pitched six innings and htave up one unearthed run, and you don't know how to feel?
  22. Glavine had great stuff. Gonsalves does not. He's a RP or shuttle guy, imo. The rest of the top five have really interesting stuff. Looking forward to seeing Thorpe next year.
  23. Keeping Dozier and Escobar doesn't help next year at all, or any year, probably. Since they are free agents. How does keeping them help?
