  1. Not to mention other 1B also had scoops.....that ability is in the defensive rankings, and there just isn't that much difference between 1B at the MLB level. These guys have been fielding grounders since they were 7 ......or 5.
  2. Not really.....they have both Buxton and Kepler, but they need a SS or 2B. So, the question is, which should they pursue? Also, if you think Gordon is really a 2B.....maybe you try Polanco 1 more year at SS. I don't know the right answer on this one, frankly. With Lewis and Gordon a year or two away...things are a bit muddy, unless you are really trying to win next year big time.
  3. Insane. Wow.
  4. POTUS says this is the market correction we've been waiting for......
  5. I can't speak for anyone else....but my retirement plan money (a real, but not too large percent of my accounts) I play with saw a correction the last two weeks. Like, a real correction...... I sold a LOT of stock recently, because we just agreed to buy a house. Glad I did that before this mini correction (or whatever) started...... I think a ton of stocks I love are on sale right now, but I need all my cash for the house and the remodeling....
  6. My question about the catchers.....can Gaver stay back there with all the concussions, or should he be in the RF/1B/DH mix?
  7. Pineda hasn't pitched in a year, I hope no one is assuming he's there for sure next year..... If all you ever sign is bargain RPs to one year deals, you need to do that year after year...what are the odds you are going to pick right? Move some of these mediocre SPs to RP, and let them loose. Sign a legit RP that you believe in to a multi-year deal. Then sign a flyer. But stop looking for guys trying to re-establish their value.
  8. As for being saavy? Uh, not really.....that bullpen wasn't good, and part of it was mediocre veterans. I'm with Nick......"winning" by finding bargains isn't usually winning.....
  9. Maybe move some of the "meh" starters to RP.......like with Rodgers for example.....DeJong, Slegers, and others are not going to be difference makers at SP....
  10. Heh... Good point sorry. I post it about as often as they win.... But I can stop
  11. At some point, just fold the program.....
  12. Who are you arguing with? No one is saying give up on them. Other than a small number of people saying Sano can't play 3B.....those same people are saying he can DH or 1B.....but no one is saying give up. People are saying....have alternatives available. Nothing more or less.
  13. I'm looking forward to Good Omens next year.....best cast ever. And Gaiman is the writer/runner, so any changes should still be good.
  14. Wasnt I replying to a post that asked what happens if they go get a legit OF, and Buxton is good too? Of course I don't move him for no good reason....
  15. Put Buxton in LF or RF, problem solved. Move Sano to 1B/DH, problem solved. That said, I doubt they acquire an OF, but I could see trying out Donaldson, who can probably play 1B/DH if Sano is good again......
  16. Still better than this team the last four years, record wise........but sure, I"m not arguing to stop there, but it would be nice to at least be that good.....
  17. Also, I'd do the QO for sure if they can't agree on a number (assuming he's good again).
  18. Why would you do anything with Berrios and his contract right now? Pitchers get hurt, a lot, and he's here for several more years.....it would be bad to do anything that wasn't a terrible deal for Jose..... Odo? Nothing at this point. He's a fine 3 or so, probably, but they might be able to replace that with Thorpe or Romero or Mejia, maybe. Or a FA signing. Gibson? I'd offer him a 3 year extension, because he's getting better as time goes on, and they need a veteran who struggled then got better, imo. But, if they don't, I wouldn't be upset or surprised. Pineda hasn't been healthy for over a year, and people keep penciling him in. Mind. Boggling. Berrios is the obvious choice for pitcher of the year....
  19. League median catcher as a rookie.....not bad. Not awesome, but not bad. If they would play him at DH and 1B, and let him hit more, when not catching, I'd guess he'd be a 2 WAR player, give or take. That's a valuable player, but not a star. If every rookie they had did that, this team would be the A's.......
  20. Where did it say give up on them? It said, be prepared in case they flop again.....NO ONE is saying give up on Buxton, and few are saying it on Sano. But, the FO should have a legit plan for a backup 3B.....they appear set at CF backup for now (though I'd be good if they followed the Brewer's path and added a legit OF to the mix somehow). But no one, not in that article, or most other places, is saying punt on these guys. But, please, at least have a backup 3B available.......
  21. I agree with this choice......my concern going forward is the head injury history....does he need to move to 1B/DH more, and catch less? Maybe the OF occasionally? Has he ever played 3B? I think he's a legit decent/good hitter. If he can catch, DH/1B and sometimes OF, he's got real value. Cave is definitely in the mix for RF/LF/CF, depending what Kepler and Buxton do...... And, imo, Astudillo should be the 2nd catcher, in a similar role to Garver. It's a crime he didn't catch the first time he was up, and that he wasn't up earlier.....
  22. can't. tell. if. serious. He's 180 degrees from what the team needs.
  23. Who is Manny Machado's best friend? He needs to be interviewed, at least.....
