  1. You don't think Swanson is getting ten years? He's not close to the player the other three are. Why would you sign two cheap starters? They have plenty of back end starters.
  2. Like who? Who can they sign that is a difference maker? Last year was a record year for free agent starting pitchers, the Twins passed. Instead they dealt prospects, and still had nothing to show from two of the deals This year was a record year for short stops, they passed They've signed one long term deal with an elite player, and they traded him after two years. Nothing has changed. They won't pay market rates for great players.
  3. I don't think only looking at FA deals is a good measure of risk taking....but I get your point.
  4. Money is way easier to recover than good prospects. I'll be VERY surprised if Rodon signs here, slightly less so if Correa does.
  5. The Yankees have held their SS prospects for two years now. I can't see them dealing one for Kepler. Volpe is the 10th rated prospect in all of baseball, by Fangraphs......ya, no chance. I'd guess you can get someone else in the 5-10 range on their list. https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2022-in-season-prospect-list/summary?sort=-1,1&team=nyy
  6. I think he'd move Tatis for that. Gives them room to sign the guys they really want.
  7. None of those pitchers got the twins anywhere last year. By your logic, they aren't worth signing. Ohtani didn't carry the Angels to the playoffs..... You don't think he's worth signing next year? I don't really understand the logic in saying player X was not good enough to carry a team, so he's not worth signing.
  8. Why? Just go with Farmer. He's better.
  9. Trading Kepler is what the Rays would do at this point.....
  10. And he's hurt a lot, not what you want in Buxton insurance.
  11. Lewis moves to left and center when Buxton is hurt. Lee plays third or second or right field. Miranda moves to DH or first. They aren't close to having a logjam. Or, one of them is dealt as part of a deal for a very good pitcher.
  12. I'm not sure what the As are doing, other than trying to have the lowest payroll.
  13. Everything I read online says Oakland got nothing. A bunch of backups with low ceilings. We'll see in a couple years, but it's hard to imagine they couldn't get one great prospect.
  14. Given that refused to pay their last three stars, no. Perhaps the richest owners in the game, not spending.
  15. How many rookies do you expect to come and help each year? Realistically help? Ryan was a number three starter. Duran? Best RP in the game, maybe. Varland filled in admirably, as did Wallner. Lewis looked legit before getting hurt. Oh, and Miranda was very good. Larnach and Kiriloff got hurt. I think all but AK were rookies last year. Then you have Arraez and Gordon and Jeffers, who were rookies the year before or the one before that. This is one of the younger teams in the game..... I just don't see how we can argue that there is no help coming up at all. Next year? Hopefully a healthy Lewis, Wallner, SWR are likely to see time. Lee might. That doesn't count any RPs like Enlow or Winder, for example.
  16. I'd love to have another #2 starter. I can't see how that would be bad. I get there are doubters, but people seem higher on a Marlins' pitcher that was worse last year.
  17. I doubt Miami wants someone as old as Kepler back right now.....but I could be wrong.
  18. You can be good at fundamentals, and still make mistakes.....I think, and this is just me, sometimes we forget that.
  19. To quote myself, I'm guessing they have 8 fundamentally sound OFers in the system, but not all 8 were ready for the majors last year by the end of the year. Who saw Wallner in MN last year, when the year started? No one.
  20. At points last year they started 3 OFer in games, none of whom were in the top 5 or 6 options at the beginning of the year. That's going to lead to some issues for sure.....It's hard to picture any team outside the BEST team, having 8 fundamentally sound, good, OFers ready for the majors at any one time.
