  1. Based on having Polanco at 2nd, and one of Miranda/Kiriloff/Larnach at first, and one of those plus Wallner at DH? No, just no. Though I'd deal Kepler to free up money and RF for Wallner.
  2. SD likely wants to extend their RF.....so I'm not sure, unless they deal a player off. I agree on Chicago.....CO is badly enough run to do 6 years, but I doubt it. Seattle could afford this, and it would be great for a couple years for them.
  3. Finally watching season three of Orville. Either it isn't as good as the first two (I thought two was quite good) or Discovery and even the new Star Trek are just so much better that I'm spoiled.
  4. there is only 1 ace-type unsigned at this point.......it isn't just the cost, but the availability.
  5. I don't think the Dodgers do that length either. Or Philly (though maybe them). That leave TX and LAA and ? that would go that long?
  6. I'd love signing him, and moving Lewis to LF/CF. That would be ideal. Then deal Larnach, Winder (or whomever at that value) and Martin for one of Milwaukee's pitchers (or Lopez from Miami) plus a catching prospect (likely they'd need to put another minor league player in that deal from MN side).
  7. I'm guessing vesting player options for year 5 and 6 based on health. Last good SP in free agency.....I just can't see the Twins winning this bidding war. Go trade for a SP and sign a SS or OF (are there any OF we want? no idea).
  8. I saw that....I'm saying I don't think he gets it. But I think he gets at least 4.
  9. I can't see MN paying what it will take, given what DeGrom and Verlander just got paid. I'm thinking AT LEAST 4 years and $120 million, more like 4/140. That's a lot of money........
  10. This is how I feel for sure. I'd want at least one guy that can play this year, though (unless they get, you know, an insane offer of a top 10 prospect + or so).
  11. Hated that Joe Ryan trade, huh. Or the Gray trade? They've had hits and misses......
  12. I'd deal him to Milwaukee, for example. Who else has top tier pitching and needs a 2B? (and yes, Milwaukee needs it, now that they've made that awful deal).
  13. Is this a Ranball article posted in the wrong area?
  14. Ya. No. Not close. At least one of Lewis or Lee, plus what you typed.
  15. Trading stars for many players didn't always work..... But Pittsburgh is terrible with little depth. I'd consider it if them, given they'll never play in the deep end of free agency.
  16. Starts with Lewis or Lee or Pittsburgh hangs up. Whether that is right or not.
  17. Perfect player for here, as he can play center when Buxton is out
  18. I also like the purpose. I wish they'd make A LOT more players eligible, frankly.
  19. I don't think people look at other catchers statistics at all when commenting on Jeffers' relative value. Nor do they look at the stats posted here and how many more or less SBs he (and the pitchers) give up in a year relative to other teams. Not even a little. Nor how valuable a steal is. He's also 25 and didn't play much in the minors. I really think people are wrong in their lack of patience here. That said, I'd like a much better compliment to him than what they are likely to have. This is nowhere near their biggest issue for next year. SS is, and it isn't close. Then backup CF, since Buxton will play 100 games if the team is lucky.
  20. The Twins have started AK in the OF every year so far, haven't they? I get we all think he's a 1B, and maybe last year it was because Sano was at first, but I don't know.... Gordon should start against righties. He's a legit corner OF (or CF when Buxton is hurt). He's no all star, but he's a starter. I don't care if they keep Kepler or not. Larnach is really not understood on this site, when it comes to D. Teams gave up running on him completely last year (as someone above noted). If he's healthy, he's a legit starter. I believe Wallner is also a legit player (and I didn't think that going into last year). If I had my choice, it would be Larnach, Buxton, Wallner as the starters. Gordon as the backup who plays a lot. Then, I guess Garlick to PH in games or start against lefties at times. That leaves the rest in AAA (where I think Celestino needs some time). I would not be opposed to signing a corner OF that can play some CF and dealing some of the ones the Twins have for pitching or catching. If they sign a top 4 SS, Lewis should be in LF or CF long term, since I see Lee as the long term 3B (in the world where they sign a legit SS this year). One of the best prospects in this system is also likely a corner OF in a couple years......
  21. The rules were changed years ago, and it just isn't as important as it was back in the day. So much virtual ink spilled on this, given its actual impact in today's game. As for the comments on the FO, well, never mind.
  22. It truly amazes me when we see posts like the one you quoted. Players go where the money and opportunity are. Some choose based on city, sure. But if you offer people money and opportunity, they'll come. I mean, it happens all the time in sports.
  23. Almost none of them were viewed as studs outside Twins' land...... I don't understand why we conflate pre-this FO with the current FO. They have Ryan who they have for his entire time in the majors. They likely have Ober and Varland and SWR. Are any of those aces? Not likely, but they might be near Berrios level at times. That doesn't count Winder (who most outsiders viewed as a good RP most likely). It doesn't count Enlow (injuries happen). They have passed on pitchers in round one most of the time. I don't love that, but it tends to make it harder to develop aces (not impossible).
