  1. I keep reading hitters are safer. Which player was in the majors, healthy, last year, Lewis or Greene? The Twins can't afford to sign an elite pitcher, and no one trades them..... Draft one.
  2. I'm really surprised at the tone here..... The delta in likelihood of stardom at pick 5 to 13 is staggering when you look at the research. This is nothing to be anything but very happy about.
  3. There one great pitcher left in free agency. He wants a six year deal. And several teams are bidding. A trade is much more likely.
  4. Three or four good to great pitchers have signed. There were three great ones available. What, realistically, do you expect? Did you expect the Mets not to sign one? They acquired a number two in a trade last year......
  5. I mean, you'd have to put in more than just Arraez for that.....
  6. Rocco isn't making that decision.......so you'd have to get rid of the FO and the manager and others, I'd guess. Maybe even Max.
  7. This. The Twins do NOT use him in CF anymore. I don't know why people keep saying he is available there. If you wait for minor league players to prove they belong, they never come up. Ever. You can't prove it in the minors.....so that argument holds no weight for me. Max hasn't hit well for a corner OF other than 1 year. His D is very good....but can't hit and he isn't healthy. I am not opposed to keeping him, but he's fine, maybe almost "good". But that's it, IMO. The minor league players have the potential to be much better hitters. NO ONE ran on Larnach after a few games last year. Wallner? I'm not going to judge him on D in 133 innings......Then there is AK and Celestino and Lewis (if they sign CC). He's going to give the Twins 1.5-2.3 WAR. Not great, not awful. I'm not sure that's enough to keep him around (assuming they use the savings on something).
  8. We learned there is plenty of money to spend, if teams are willing.
  9. There is one great pitcher left in free agency, and he wants a 6 year deal.......They are much better off signing CC and dealing one of Lee or Lewis as part of a package to get a great pitcher.
  10. Rocco was talking about having dinner with him last week....
  11. I'm not sure your point......he was meh in 2020.....and bad in 2021.....and bad in 2022. To be clear, I think O, D, and baserunning all matter.......all of them.
  12. No one is arguing he's enough to get one on his own.
  13. Rosario wasn't a good hitter. Also, I'm not sure we'll ever agree on how to develop and manage people.....
  14. the problems are pitching and hitting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than defense.
  15. did I say that? If so, that's not what I thought I said. I thought I said I'd be willing to deal him for a top of the line pitcher (with others also leaving).
  16. I don't understand your point at all. Most teams aren't signing him, and I'm offering a way for the Twins to do so.
  17. Another option is to say "Hey, the owners have told us to use $20 million of our BAM money as a bonus for CC." 20 million up front as a signing bonus, and $30 million a year for 10 years.
  18. 10 year deal first five years: $25 MM next five years: $20 MM Free agent after that....with deferred payments of $10MM per year for the next ten years. Biggest contract this year (until Judge signs) total dollar wise. I'd be happy to go to $30MM per year the first five years, and drop the deferred if needed (that would make it $7.5MM per year those ten dead money years).
  19. I'd 100% rather sign Correa and deal Marin or Lewis or Lee (and whatever) for pitching. Since there is only one great FA pitcher left.....that seems like a much better use of resources.
  20. Fair take. We just don't agree.
  21. Blunder. They aren't good enough as is, and have gotten worse all off season. Huge blunder on their part.
  22. quoting myself, this likely isn't enough either......more like add in Ober or Varland.
  23. Arraez plus Winder or Balavovich+ or something like that.....
  24. Just go: ten year deal The first five years: $25MM The next five years: $20MM The next ten years (you know, dead money): $10-12 MM That's the biggest money deal ever......and leaves them money to sign another hitter and RP (or trade for a SP).
