  1. How is center field hazardous? They desperately needed a backup for Buxton. I think people are off on Wallner and his defense. I agree he should have been up much earlier. Miranda and his D make me more nervous, but he's the safest bet to hit. I agree he is a league average first baseman or DH most likely, but I bet he plays more than a little third next year. The other three should not be on the forty man roster to start next year.
  2. People do realize Rodon was hurt the two years before this? The exact kind of guy people rip the FO for acquiring?
  3. Great list. For me, cut Pagan. He's been awful for three years. His stuff just doesnt work. Acquire a very good starter. No cheap reclamation starters this year. I don't care how they talk,I don't listen to that stuff. But, if they do talk, they need to not be aloof.
  4. Varland and SWR look like they might be legit. That would be great.
  5. Fair. The front office tried, but the pitchers were terrible. Not sure how that's on the manager. They were nearly .500 the last four months, once they made changes. Even after trading Berrios.
  6. They did change their pitching strategy this year, based on having Bundy and Archer, among others. It didn't work. I would have preferred they let some starts go longer, but they literally changed from previous years.......
  7. What difference would it make if they publicly said they made some mistakes? Most good leaders do that in private, to protect their people. As for not using bad relivers, some days that was his only option. I blame the front office for that.
  8. I don't think the FO tried to win all that hard last year, given their moves. No manager was going to take that pitching staff and win. This year? They changed direction and it didn't work. I blame both the front office and the coaching staff. But, they clearly changed their approach, trading for Gray and signing CC. Also, their pitchers went deeper into games in 2019..... So they did change things.... It's possible they aren't good enough at their jobs.... It's possible that bad stuff just piled up, and it's isn't anyone's fault. We'll know more as time goes on, given they are keeping their jobs.
  9. I agree the strategy didn't match the execution this year, and I mainly blame the front office and injuries for that.
  10. We see this differently. What many attack is the need to criticize him for everything, in every thread, including celebration threads. Often with rude name calling. Criticize all y'all want, but doing it over and over and over in every thread is tedious. Look at game threads and their death. Look at some of the monthly or yearly minor league celebration threads There are good reasons to question his decisions without doing so over things he has no control over. Without saying he knows nothing, doesn't care, etc. I realize this is a fan site, and I'm fighting an uphill battle here.... As I've said, I have no idea if he should be back.
  11. Name one poster that does that. No one defends him like the haters post mean spirited things. No one.
  12. Twins were 12th best at not swinging at pitches outside the zone, and 12 best in swinging and not missing.....
  13. If you finish with the record most predicted, you pretty much met expectations. That's the definition of meeting expectations. No place did I say or imply anything else. Not even a little. I have no idea if he should be retained, I was merely pointing out that they met expectations.
  14. How many playoff appearances has Maddon had with LA? Perhaps it was the FO in TB and Chicago?
  15. This. So many fans here just hate on him (those fans probably loved him the first two years). The kinds of things people say are just mean spirited.....especially on this site.
  16. They pretty much finished where non-fans projected them to this year. I'm not sure how they underachieved. And that was with assuming they wouldn't lose their top 5 outfielders all at the same time for most of the second half of the year.
  17. The Atlanta team bunted 4 times this year.........Bunting is dying for good reasons. I do agree, their fast players (um, who are those?) should try to steal more. I'm hopeful Lewis and Martin are up at some point next year, and that number jumps. But, they have zero infielders that should be trying, and once Buxton was out, which OF did you want to try to steal more often?
