    If they can't bring up the youth and have them produce, they can't win no matter how many Gallos they sign. At some point, you have to bite the bullet. Passing on all the great players or even next tier of players was that point for me. He put up .6 WAR with his great defense last year. Projects aren't trash. Go look at how they actually do......

    He's projected for 1.1 fWAR...........1`.1. Kepler is projected for 1.9. It isn't close. And, for 11 million dollars. And, unless Kepler is traded, they are blocking youth for a year for what? What is fixed long term (or even short term)?

    Because they were better than him last year? Oh, wait. 100% this is about not looking cheap and praying Gallo is great. But who cares? It is one year. It solves nothing at all, other than blocking Wallner or Larnach or other players.

    Gallo put up 0.6 WAR last year. He was below replacement level. Wallner was better. This reinforces my point about CC..... You can have CC and two rookies, or three Joey Gallos.....

    Given this FO? They'll likely deal Lee for some pitcher with one year left on his deal. Yes, yes I am piling on at this point.

    He was bad three years ago, great two, and awful last year.

    He put up 0.6 WAR last year! He's projected for 1.1. Martin or Wallner can do that. They are desperate to spend money and not look cheap. That's the only explanation at this point. Good thing they didn't sign Bassit.....

    I don't see this FO bringing up Lee this year. Not with Miranda at 3rd and hopefully Lewis at short at some point.

    I dont hold the current FO accountable for the two pitchers at all. Imagine drafting a college RP from the Big 10 in the top ten of the MLB draft! That's a firable offense.

    He turned down 13MM.......and passable is the high point, but sure, he's passable.

    They could be aggressive like ATL was last year, with their elite players..... I'd bet on Lee in AA to start, and in STP by June. I doubt Lewis is running full speed by early June. I hope to be wrong. I have no idea if Lee can play SS, so I won't say what they should do. Given what little we know, I'd move him to 3B or RF because you are really hoping Lewis is your SS. Miranda can play 1B or DH if Lee is at third. I'd put Martin at 2B or LF or CF at this point. He's not a SS given Lewis and Lee.

    Fair. That was not a good comp, Wallner is likely better going forward. My bad.

    They already have Gallo on the roster, he just spells his name Wallner. They had a cheaper version of Turner. They traded him to give 3B to Miranda full time. Pollock? Ugh. They have better on the roster. This is my point.....you can have CC and two rookies, or you can have these three. I know which I prefer.

    No one is complaining about Urshela.....we are pointing out that he's gone and his production needs to be replaced when you look at team WAR. Nothing more or less......And, Miranda was on the team much of last year, even with Urshela. You aren't replace Urshela with Miranda, you are replacing him with someone that wasn't on the team last year.

    I'd rather extend Gray, as I think he's more likely to be healthy than Mahle, but that's just a thing we can quibble on. I'm all in on dealing Arraez for AA player(s).

    It was less then Seager and Turner got, and only 5 million more than Xander got. Would you predict CC would take that?

    I said it yesterday when they had the same thing.....they need an editor. If they are going to schedule articles, they need to edit them.

    I've literally been on the trade Kepler train for two years now....and now I'm on the deal nearly everyone train. Again, we agree, they need to product talent (and not draft Sabato and the other guy who's name I can't spell in round one). I also said trade Berrios. I'm still not seeing where we disagree.

    Truth. they've had more than a few good moves. Injuries and some bad moves have hurt a lot.....and sticking with terrible RPs much too long.

    They also lost Urshela, who had a great WPA and decent WAR.......and replaced him with no one so far.

    That's fine.....but then be aggressive with the next tier, or, like I said, sign three mediocre players. Unfortunately, they've opted for the latter, not the second tier players. That's largely not worked (to be clear, I like the catcher they just signed).
