  1. Given that refused to pay their last three stars, no. Perhaps the richest owners in the game, not spending.
  2. How many rookies do you expect to come and help each year? Realistically help? Ryan was a number three starter. Duran? Best RP in the game, maybe. Varland filled in admirably, as did Wallner. Lewis looked legit before getting hurt. Oh, and Miranda was very good. Larnach and Kiriloff got hurt. I think all but AK were rookies last year. Then you have Arraez and Gordon and Jeffers, who were rookies the year before or the one before that. This is one of the younger teams in the game..... I just don't see how we can argue that there is no help coming up at all. Next year? Hopefully a healthy Lewis, Wallner, SWR are likely to see time. Lee might. That doesn't count any RPs like Enlow or Winder, for example.
  3. I'd love to have another #2 starter. I can't see how that would be bad. I get there are doubters, but people seem higher on a Marlins' pitcher that was worse last year.
  4. I doubt Miami wants someone as old as Kepler back right now.....but I could be wrong.
  5. You can be good at fundamentals, and still make mistakes.....I think, and this is just me, sometimes we forget that.
  6. To quote myself, I'm guessing they have 8 fundamentally sound OFers in the system, but not all 8 were ready for the majors last year by the end of the year. Who saw Wallner in MN last year, when the year started? No one.
  7. At points last year they started 3 OFer in games, none of whom were in the top 5 or 6 options at the beginning of the year. That's going to lead to some issues for sure.....It's hard to picture any team outside the BEST team, having 8 fundamentally sound, good, OFers ready for the majors at any one time.
  8. Like Ryan and Varland and Ober? Like Duran? Like Arraez? Like Gordon, who is finally showing something? Like Wallner? Or Larnach (before getting hurt)? Fangraphs has MN 18th in rankings. Yes, they are down, but then, they dealt for Gray, was that bad? Would you rather they not have Gray right now? I get that Mahle got hurt, sucks for sure.....Also, the Twins made the playoffs in 19 and 20, kind of hurt their draft position.....But the idea the system is a barren wasteland, as some have stated, just isn't true. If Lewis is finally healthy and a few others are what some here think they are, I think people will be very happy in a couple years.
  9. They signed CC and traded for at least four pitchers last year.....I'm baffled anyone thinks last year was a half measure. Utterly baffled. I do agree that they should be going for it this year, given the status of their pitchers and FA......but it takes two to tango, as they say. They might try very hard, but even Aaron Judge only succeeds 30 some percent of the time....Not that I'm going to give them a pass. If they strike out on the top guys, they better still improve in other ways. As for attendance, that is largely correlated to the previous year. Well, we all know how the previous year went.... If the Twins are winning and the news stops portraying downtown as a hell hole, people will come.
  10. Agreed, but there may be good reasons. I'd want a couple good prospects that I can include in a package for another player, like a legit starting pitcher or RH OF.... Though I have no idea which OF are available. Or catcher.
  11. The genesis of the post you responded to was that the twins should sign Rodon, as he was less risky than CC..... I'd be good with either, but I prefer CC.
  12. Which would you rather sign?
  13. You'd rather pay 130 million for Rodon?
  14. You'd rather the owner keep the money, and not pay players?
  15. Sure, I'd rather have a better pitcher. Can people name an available one?
  16. I'd make that deal 100 times out of 100 if I'm Miami. I would not do that if I'm MN, no way.
  17. Those three easily get Lopez. Probably an overpay.
  18. Sure, but it also makes sense that if you think a guy is going to be good for 8 years, to sign him for 11 and spread the money out. Pretty sure that's what teams that signed the huge contracts this week did.
  19. I would rather like to get Crawford and Bart on the Twins. I'd rather get CC, but Crawford is a good player, if old. And Bart? Worth a shot for sure. Was once THE GUY in the minors. I'd want another minor league player for Arraez in that deal, but I'd settle for just those two, I think.
  20. I'd trade Polanco for him, that would be a steal for the Twins (given their position players and minor league players). So I doubt Miami would.
  21. Rooker isn't a miss? We clearly have different definitions of that. I'm suggesting that the best player at 5 will want number 5 money....but I could be wrong.
  22. How are Rooker and Enlow doing? Remember the excitement here? Ugh. Just Ugh. Draft the best player.
