The best deadline deals for buyers are usually for mediocre veterans, often underperforming relievers. Prices are too high to acquire top talent in July. Aim low and give up little. The best deal the Twins made last summer was Fulmer for Gipson-Long.
Vazquez is part of the reason this pitching staff has performed much better this season. I think they leaned on him a little too heavily when he started out hot. Both catchers will perform better if they share the workload.
If Mahle hadn't been injured I expect he would have done at least as well as Varland. This is based on his long track record in MLB as well as how he pitched in the 5 games we got from him this season.
Imagine how good Duran would be if he could actually control his pitches. His stuff is just nasty but he was all over the place last night. Luckily he was able to locate the fastball up. Kudos to Jeffers for keeping the ball in front of him on the breaking stuff.
Woods-Richardson is having a disappointing season but it's worth noting that he's younger than Festa and essentially the same age as Prielipp. There's still plenty of time for him to develop.
Fangraphs didn't get it either. I think he's a leadoff hitter and left fielder.
Julien should move to first base. He might be good enough there to stick. I think he's playing 2B this season because they need someone there on the depth chart. We've already seen Polanco hit the injured list twice.
Drop a couple. I hope you don't have time to watch that much television.
For years people complained that they had to pay for the whole cable bundle when they really wanted a-la-carte. Sounds like you were happy with the whole cable bundle.
Things I learned
Julien is not a 2B, but they keep playing him there
Martin is not a SS, but they keep playing him there
Rodriguez is not a CF, but they keep playing him there
If it makes you feel better, I think MLB going directly to customers is going to blow up everything. Cord cutting will accelerate and we will see a far different way to view your favorite team's games. You'll be paying for a season pass for each team you want to watch.
I was able to get all the over the air channels by putting a $50 antenna from Menards on the roof. I used the cable from my previous Dish Network installation, removed the dish and attached the antenna to the bracket where the dish used to be. Added a $10 signal amplifier near the TV. Works great and costs $0/month.
Actually, you get more than just Padres games. It's also:
"eligible out of market games (subject to national exclusivities), plus access to MiLB and MLB Big Inning"
