  1. No, he was leaving pitches middle-middle and the last ball was hit really hard. It was time.
  2. Fun weekend, tomorrow is on Fox so I get to watch two games!
  3. What I'd like to see is games on over-the-air television again. Put the games on Channel 45; there are plenty of other ways to get reruns of Friends.
  4. Maybe they could move the booth to Perkins. I could go for a short stack with strawberries.
  5. Woods-Richardson is having a disappointing season but it's worth noting that he's younger than Festa and essentially the same age as Prielipp. There's still plenty of time for him to develop.
  6. Fangraphs didn't get it either. I think he's a leadoff hitter and left fielder. Julien should move to first base. He might be good enough there to stick. I think he's playing 2B this season because they need someone there on the depth chart. We've already seen Polanco hit the injured list twice.
  7. Drop a couple. I hope you don't have time to watch that much television. For years people complained that they had to pay for the whole cable bundle when they really wanted a-la-carte. Sounds like you were happy with the whole cable bundle.
  8. Things I learned Julien is not a 2B, but they keep playing him there Martin is not a SS, but they keep playing him there Rodriguez is not a CF, but they keep playing him there
  9. If it makes you feel better, I think MLB going directly to customers is going to blow up everything. Cord cutting will accelerate and we will see a far different way to view your favorite team's games. You'll be paying for a season pass for each team you want to watch.
  10. I was able to get all the over the air channels by putting a $50 antenna from Menards on the roof. I used the cable from my previous Dish Network installation, removed the dish and attached the antenna to the bracket where the dish used to be. Added a $10 signal amplifier near the TV. Works great and costs $0/month.
  11. Actually, you get more than just Padres games. It's also: "eligible out of market games (subject to national exclusivities), plus access to MiLB and MLB Big Inning"
  12. Bonus - if rights revert to the Twins my in-laws will likely get Twins games on Dish Network for the first time in four years.
  13. I can get behind any passive-aggressive (Minnesotan?) putdown of St. Cloud State.
  14. Who knows. You won't be watching them on BSN anymore. The Padres had a bunch of different cable options depending on the subscriber. I don't know if those channels play anything at all when there isn't a Padres game. If your cable provider doesn't get a Twins channel then you'll be able to subscribe through MLB.tv and watch them using a streaming device (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire stick, computer, iPad, etc) assuming you have an internet connection. I've been Roku/streaming for years now and it's a lot better than cable. For $22 a month I'm getting all the TV I could ever watch. The only thing I miss is Twins baseball.
  15. Counterpoint It’s Not Your Imagination: A Lot of Relievers Are Really Good Now | FanGraphs Baseball The 13th pitcher on the staff now has measurably better stuff than the 10th pitcher did in 1980 or the 11th pitcher in 1990. They have higher velocity, more spin, and more likely to get strikeouts. In all measurable ways pitching is better than it used to be. Based on the level of talent available we're overdue for MLB expansion.
  16. A deadline deal for what though? The only easy place to upgrade is in CF and the bullpen. I hope they don't send Julien out for a reliever.
  17. The defense is a lot more likely to make an error when the batter hits the ball really, really hard. Nobody chokes up and tries to make weak contact with 2 strikes anymore because it is a bad idea.
  18. It was so long ago that none of the current Twins were alive at the time including the manager.
  19. He might have been able to handle 2B before they changed the shifting rules. Now I think he's a 1B/DH. The Twins have too many DH on their roster.
  20. You know very few people hit .300 anymore, right? This isn't the 1990s or the 1930s. What is the obsession with batting average on this board?
  21. I'm still not getting it. YouTube TV is $73 a month. Why would I pay for that when I can just pay the Twins $20/month? A standalone app would be available to everyone who has internet access. What households are using YouTube TV but lack internet access? I could see an option for Dish/Direct TV. I can also see some games appearing again on local broadcast television. It would be terrific if 45 decided to air all the Twins games.
  22. That wouldn't explain why they wanted to give him more money than the Twins are paying him.
  23. 5 for 20 is a .250 average. Add the 3 walks and it's a .347 OBP. 5 strikeouts is pretty low for todays' MLB. If this is a "bad stretch" he's doing just fine.
  24. Why would you want the middleman in Hulu (which won't exist next year) or YouTube? I want MLB to sell me a streaming service at $100 a season. MLB already has extensive revenue sharing.
