  1. If there's one thing sports fans really rally around it is a bunch of quitters. That's why Oakland is leading the league in attendance.
  2. Yeah, trying is probably a bad idea. Better to quit when you're ahead. Quitting is best way to build a fanbase.
  3. Give up very little and get two above average soon-to-be free agent relief pitchers. Hopefully ones with expensive salaries so they cost almost nothing in talent. Balance the OF by dumping a LH batter and adding one from the right side.
  4. Renfroe for Gallo plus a prospect would be a coup. Renfroe for Kepler would help both teams.
  5. If the Twins add a RH hitting OF bat he should take playing time away from Kepler anyway. If Wallner fails in a platoon RF role they can try Larnach or Kirilloff or Gordon or more Willi Castro.
  6. There are only 2 seasons between 2021 and now. I don't see where they burned an option in 2021, he has very few games in AAA that season.
  7. This I don't agree with at all. The Twins have a LOT of options to replace Max Kepler. He's hot right now but there's no upside beyond how he has played in July and plenty of downside that he'll revert to his production for the previous 2 years. Move him and put Wallner in RF.
  8. I think they have already started down that path with Woods-Richardson.
  9. But Polanco getting hurt is pretty much a guarantee so Julien was always pretty high on the depth chart. That's one reason they haven't moved him to a position where he won't get removed in the 8th inning for a defensive substitution. They needed him as the #2 second baseman on the depth chart because their #1 is old and fragile.
  10. I know people are skeptical they can move Gallo but is there a better LH outfield bat on the market? All they will want in return is a decent reliever.
  11. That didn't stop them from giving Gallo $11M and a season's worth of playing time.
  12. It also didn't help when Royce Lewis got hurt again. He was killing LHP.
  13. I don't trust a rookie (especially Prato or Severino) to immediately come in and produce at the plate. Both Castro and Farmer can field well enough to hold down 3B and in a platoon role they can provide enough offense for the short term. I also don't want to start the clock on Lee if they're going to send him back down when Lewis returns. I would move both Severino and Lee to St. Paul. I expect the Twins will make that move after the trade deadline, assuming they are both still in the organization.
  14. There is nobody important playing SS for the Saints. They could move Lee up any day now.
  15. Even if that happens this is still a good trade. I don't see Lopez pitching productively for this team ever and I don't see them offering him a contract this offseason. Lopez was a bad fit, he wasn't going to do well as a Twin. Hopefully Floro is a better fit.
  16. Look up "sunk cost". The players they traded last season have nothing to do with this trade.
  17. A small upgrade for this year at very little cost. Good move.
  18. It says plenty about the front office, not about Larnach.
