  1. St Paul Saints on The CW Twin Cities | WUCW (thecwtc.com) Sept 2 @7pm: vs Columbus Clippers Sept 3 @5pm: vs Columbus Clippers Sept 23 @ 6:30pm: vs Toledo Mud Hens
  2. I watched Woods-Richardson pitching thanks to the televised Saints game. He missed over the middle of the plate too often and was bailed out by AAA hitters. His stuff was decent but he had trouble hitting spots. His delivery is very over-the-top and I wonder if he has trouble repeating it. With his velocity he has to be able to hit spots to be effective.
  3. Isn't healthy and mediocre exactly what you want from a backup?
  4. I do think one consequence of picking up Polanco's option could be losing Nick Gordon from the roster. I don't see room for all of Polanco, Farmer, Castro and Gordon as utility players.
  5. You're right. I looked at the photos and thought it was Brock Stewart
  6. So you'd rather have the more expensive player because he's more likely to be injured and miss games? That's some convoluted reasoning.
  7. Buxton makes $15M next season. Polanco would make $10.5M
  8. Similar signings last offseason Jean Segura 2 years $17M (underperforming) Brandon Drury 2 years $17M (meets expectations) Aledmys Diaz 2 years $14.5M (underperforming) Matt Carpenter 2 years $12M (underperforming) Jace Peterson 2 years $9.5M (meets expectations) Adam Frazier 1 year $8M (meets expectations) Wil Myers 1 year $7.5M (underperforming) Jeimer Candelario 1 year $5M (OVERperforming) Evan Longoria 1 year $4M (meet expectations) Elvis Andrus 1 year $3M (underperforming) Donovan Solano 1 year $2M (OVERperforming) Josh Harrison 1 year $2M (underperforming) Willi Castro 1 year $1.8M (OVERperforming)
  9. Adding on. I looked at his game logs and he didn't pitch for 5 days in a row in August. Fatigue should not be the issue.
  10. Castro has been far more valuable than Polanco this season. Baseball Reference has Castro as the #1 Twins position player. I agree that Polanco could effectively replace Solano but is that worth $10.5M?
  11. A guy who has thrown almost 47 innings this season is overworked? No. How low do you want his workload to be?
  12. My guess for infielders on the 40 man roster this offseason: Correa, Lewis, Kirilloff, Julien, Willi Castro, Farmer, Gordon, Miranda, Martin, Severino. Does Polanco add $10.5M worth of value as the 11th infielder when his banged up body will give you 80-100 games maximum?
  13. Yes, because the young guys they were counting on the fill bullpen spots have pretty much all failed.
  14. I think Polanco has been the player pushing to play a utility role. It's a smart move for him, that's how he'll get his next contract.
  15. Farmer is the better defender and he's actually available to play most days. He's also a good short side of a 2B platoon with Julien.
  16. He's not worth $10.5M, there are always similar options available in free agency for less. The Twins are only paying Solano $2M, for example. I wouldn't mind if the Twins bring Polanco back but they should definitely decline his option.
  17. The "Twins guy" has a .642 OPS in AAA. Lee is AHEAD of almost every other player in the draft. You can't act like the Twins are moving him too slowly.
  18. A non-contender should be willing to shed some salary to pick up a guy who might be good next season. I don't know why Brent Suter is still on the Rockies roster, for example.
  19. I would trade any of Henriquez, Sands, Balazovic, Moran, Ortega, Winder for an average veteran reliever. There are only so many roster spots a team can afford to dedicate to "they might be a good reliever someday".
  20. I don't want Martin sitting on the bench to end the season and I don't see a place for him to start. If I'm just looking for bench speed I'd grab Stevenson. Funderburk is the one guy where there are no development tradeoffs if they bring him up. He's going to get the same number of innings in MLB as in AAA.
  21. Jax has options remaining but I don't think there is another reliever on the 40 man roster I'd rather have in the bullpen. The choices are Moran, Headrick, Ortega and Henriquez. Maybe Paddack can help in the bullpen but he hasn't even started a rehab assignment yet.
