  1. Pretty bold to put Julien, Wallner and Duran ahead of Kirilloff. Assuming Brooks Lee and Royce Lewis are also in that list it doesn't leave room for Jenkins.
  2. I want the Twins to trade him for pitching like the Rays did when they dumped Delmon Young on the Twins.
  3. He's unplayable at 2B for a whole season. If that's his best position, then he doesn't have one. LF would be a better choice simply because they get fewer chances to screw up than 2B. They made the 2B decision before the rules changes about infield shifting. Now 2B range matters again and Julien doesn't have enough range.
  4. Brooks Lee is in AAA getting ready for 2024. It's plenty challenging for him as a hitter.
  5. I don't care how hard Julien works defensively he won't ever be a better choice at 2B than Brooks Lee. I'd rather see them have Julien work hard in the offseason at 1B or LF to see if there is one position in the field he can play competently.
  6. 1) Buxton has a no-trade clause as part of the contract 2) No other team wants Buxton if he can't play defense I wish I would stop seeing people make this suggestion. It has no basis in reality.
  7. I think I would rather have Maeda for one season $20M than two seasons $30M. He will be 37 in 2025.
  8. I don't know if this strategy has really paid off for the Twins. Pineda wasn't much better than any other random $10M starting pitcher. We'll see if Paddack produces more than an innings eater after his surgery. There is limited upside and plenty of downside signing Mahle.
  9. It takes less skill than playing 2B. It's hope that they can salvage some defensive value from Julien by playing him at the easiest infield position. If he can't play 1B then he's a 24 year old platoon DH who doesn't hit lefties. That's hard to carry with just 13 roster spots for position players. Julien is also having a pretty bad August so far (507 OPS). I might consider sending him back to AAA when Lewis returns.
  10. If Julien is strictly a DH I'd lean toward trading him for pitching this offseason.
  11. If Dobnak is in the opening day rotation it's a rebuilding year.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised to see another trade for a starting pitcher.
  13. Looking forward to seeing this article again in September and October, possibly again in November.
  14. Notable that you didn't even put Julien in consideration for 2B. I would play Lee at 2B and Lewis at 3B and that could be a very good infield. I think I would keep Polanco as a veteran bench player but I don't think he has the physical ability to play every day anymore which means I would decline the $10.25M option.
  15. I got to attend the Saints game last evening. Looks like they're on TV tonight so I should get to see them back to back. Brooks Lee is going to be a very good baseball player. He made a couple nifty plays at SS and looks like he can clearly handle the position. His first flyball out was to the deepest part of CF and the HR was a bomb. Varland shut down a Triple-A lineup like a big league pitcher is supposed to do. Nice to see his success and fun to see him meet up with his family for fireworks after the game. The fireworks started a little early with one of the Bats hitters getting into it with Camargo. They let Louie stay in the 8th inning just to strike that guy out again and send him back to the dugout. Royce Lewis is ready. Just bring him up. He's not challenged by AAA pitching. Camargo has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. That can be a good thing for a catcher. Larnach looks like he's pressing a little at the plate. Played pretty well in RF though. Martin and Prato are a contrast of tools versus skills. Kiersey looked overwhelmed at the plate and Celestino wasn't much better. Moran still can't find the strike zone. Lots of talent on the Saints right now and still the best ballpark experience in the Twin Cities.
  16. I don't think Martin is ready quite yet. He's certainly not a better option than Willi Castro at this moment. He's about where Castro was at the same age (24) - not quite good enough to help a major league team. I wish Martin had Prato's skills or Prato had Martin's tools.
  17. Any major league team willing to pick up his contract could have Randy Dobnak right now. The Twins would deal him away before the other team could change their mind.
  18. I get that they're all about the platoon advantage but using Gallo as your platoon guy is like when Mr. Burns pinch hit Homer Simpson for Darryl Strawberry.
  19. I hope nobody who buys a Saints ticket cares about the score at the end of the game. It's minor league baseball, which is VERY different from the Pohlads and the Twins. Most people go to Saints games for the sideshows (ball pig, ushertainers, Mudonna, corny promotions) and the beer.
  20. He will be the only major leaguer from Alderson Broaddus since that university just recently closed.
  21. Thank you Twins Daily for pointing out over and over again that Randy Dobnak is still alive.
  22. I have been watching some Saints games on TV and Prato impresses as someone who clearly knows how to play baseball. I don't see a path for him onto the roster at the moment. Castro and Farmer are playing well enough. I don't see a reason to force Prato onto the roster but he should get a chance to play in the big leagues at some point.
