  1. It says plenty about the front office, not about Larnach.
  2. I want Kirilloff in the OF and Julien at 1B in 2024. I want Buxton there too but he might be the new John Castino.
  3. That's a pipe dream. The Twins aren't giving Hader 5 years, $90M.
  4. I would love to see Julien get reps at a position where they don't want to remove him for a defensive substitution late in the game. If he's been "blocked" it's because his glove sucks.
  5. Larnach is in AAA instead of Gallo because he has options, not because Gallo has played better.
  6. Julien had never played above AA. He played all of 38 AAA games. This is revisionist history.
  7. And he's being paid accordingly ($14M salary). There is almost no surplus value there. I don't think it is a good idea to give up cheap talent AND a lot of money for 25 innings of relief pitching. This is a "get to the playoffs and see what happens" season. Not a "we're the favorites so go for it" season.
  8. I would flip Larnach or Wallner (though I like having the local player around to root for) for other young, controllable talent (like a RH hitting OF). I don't want to send them to another team for a rental player.
  9. I agree with this. Even if he's effective he might not be able to stay healthy. A lefthanded reliever is a definite priority. It's not too difficult to hide a AAA level reliever on the roster but last night shows you can't hide four of them.
  10. I don't want them to give away the career prime of a first round draft pick for 25 innings of relief pitching. There are much, much cheaper options for obtaining 25 innings of relief pitching. Last year they traded basically nothing for Fulmer and a LOT for Lopez and Fulmer outperformed Lopez.
  11. Moran, Ortega and Sands should be in AAA. Balazovic is a mirage. They need Thielbar, Stewart AND two more solid relievers for this bullpen.
  12. They're calling about Larnach and Wallner, not Gallo and Kepler.
  13. This is almost never a real concern. The roster is never all healthy at the same time.
  14. Scott Boras just got an entire free day's press for his draft pick.
  15. You want a rental with an ERA that is worse than his xFIP. Those are the cheapest guys and the best buys at the deadline.
  16. If those picks wanted to sign for $150k they would have signed already.
  17. Will he leave enough in the budget to sign the 19th or 20th round picks?
  18. They should be focused on selling the prospects they aren't interested in adding to the 40 man roster. I think they can get a reliever for Severino.
  19. Pretty sure the Twins are offering full slot. No reason to be disgruntled when you get full slot for your pick.
  20. The fact that WPA completely ignores defensive contributions makes it useless for me. It tells the story of game events but it is terrible at assigning value to players.
  21. Is Jenkins really going to turn down $7.3M because he didn't get $7.8M? He'd have to bet that going to college would raise his draft status enough to get $9M or more in 2026. He shouldn't bet $500,000 now that he would be the #1 pick in 2026, especially when he will get to free agency faster as a high school draft pick.
