  1. The Robo ump may not be perfect, but it is closer and reduces potential for argument. Why are we waiting?
  2. I agree, I just want to maintain perspective - the Mariner wins are what impresses me.
  3. The pitching line for the major league has Varland next, most then say Festa. Where does Zebby go on the next man up list?
  4. Yes, I am concerned. I'm also concerned about Julien and I am frustrated with Santana and Margot and Vasquez and Farmer. I know we had a nice 12-game winning streak, but that isn't enough as I pointed out on the athletic. Athletic we are 7 and 0 versus the White Sox. Take that away on our record. Doesn't look as great. We need all of our players performing at the level expected.
  5. No pipeline, Varland proved he was not ready and SWR took his place. Who is next. A pipeline needs to have pitchers being pushed from below. Give credit to the FO for some good trades, but we are trying to forget all the sign and fail pitchers of the last few years. Gray is doing great for St Louis, Kenta Maeda not so good for Detroit, Mahle has his usual position on the IL. Other than Ober the best minor leaguers from the Twins draft so far are Gil with the Yankees and Tyler Wells with Baltimore. We can also add Cano with Baltimore and Graterol with the Dodgers. Luckily we do not have the list of losers that we previously signed to fill the slots, but if SWR slips, Varland does not regain his status - who is next on the pipeline and can they actually throw 100 pitches in a game? Sorry, we only do 90 now.
  6. Gunkel is 32 with an era of 10+ - don't we have some prospects we can use in AAA? Keirsey vs Margot - I call up Keirsey.
  7. Margot and Santana are really disappointing. And Margot is a waste of a roster spot. Bring up Kiersey. Martin keeps proving he is an IF playing in the OF
  8. I love him and expect the best from him. We hoped Julien would give us what Luis did, he hasn't so far. I will always be his fan.
  9. The Twins have a history of shooting themselves in both feet. From Calvin and his famous racist remarks that drove Carew out to going into Target field without a top team, to budget ups and downs, to changing radio stations back and forth, to messing up the TV situation. And those are just cherries picked from the top. Last year we won a playoff series - it all seemed so hopeful. Isn't there a marketing person, a business person in this group that can understand that they are in a sport that needs fan enthusiasm, not confusion. They need exposure and that is not flashing one good player contract in 10 years, They need to give us hope and not have us spending our time wondering where the Twins are. In the sixties the audience in the Met Stadium were from rural communities, from ND and SD and even WI. How do they keep in touch? Very sad, very good and depressing article.
  10. This is one of those games where I wish the official scorer would use the discretion that they are allowed and given the win to SWR. SWR six and no runs, Jax one inning one run and he gets the win. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  11. I hate to pile on, but Margot has given us nothing. You know we will not resign him. Move on - Martin, Wallner - he is not needed. With Farmer and Santana still under the 200 line we do not need another weak hitter coming in - especially PH for a good hitter. The Twins were bound to lose a game, but I would have liked a crisp close loss. But we can move on. It is Margot that I can't move on from because the Twins won't move on.
  12. It is good enough to divert our attention from Margot and Farmer's batting. I really am enjoying Kepler's success and Larnach coming through. I still hope we will be seeing Wallner again soon. And Sands is a revelation. I did not see this coming either. Hurray. Glad to have Alcala in the pen again.
  13. Paddock is winning me over with this outing. I wasn't so impressed when it was against one of the really bad teams but the Red Sox have been putting up decent numbers all year. So he is proving himself each time out and let's hope it continues with some of the real top teams
  14. It's nice to bring back memories of the old twins. He was a solid part of the teams during his stay with the twins and if he had had been able to stay on for his whole career he would have made an even stronger case for moving up our top 10 list
  15. If the premise that they will go during the season, Margot is the best choice with Martin ready to take his position and other minor leaguers that would deserve playing time. Relief pitchers coming back - Jackson should go, Alcala should be back with Topa. If we look at next year - Santana should not be back. I like WIlli, Farmer is too expensive.
  16. Don't wait - but Buxton on IL. Bring up Martin. Keep moving forward.
  17. The number one is good, but I would have Larnach #2. He has really risen to this opportunity.
  18. What is the correct answer: Overhyped? What if? What now? Will he ever be what we expected? He is the ultimate conundrum and it is sad.
  19. Our fielding was shaky and it was good that we were playing the White Sox. But I am celebrating the streak.
