  1. He needed a reset and the Twins were obviously not able to provide that. Good luck to him, keep the strikeouts down and the contact up.
  2. Let's switch on our Minnesota Nice and appreciate the White Sox for the mental and physical break they gave our team. We needed to reset, but the season just keeps rolling along. No days off, but four games of batting practice and the ability for the catcher and pitchers to just play catch, made this a great visit with the Chicago counselors of good feelings. I hope they continue to be that break in the season for many more years.
  3. Your summaries have become must read. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I appreciate that put in notes about players on the other teams too. Thank you.
  4. I hope this is the springboard to better success against better teams. Overall I am glad we swept, but joy in muted. Is anyone close to as bad as the Sox?
  5. I am curious where the plus and minuses are throughout the lineup. How are Jeffers and Vasquez rating this year? There has been a lot of talk about Julien, what is his defense rated? And out hitless first baseman is there for his glove now - is he that good?
  6. I was going to post this too. Way to go. The industry sees us different than many fan perspectives. Of course that could mean that there are a lot of lousy front offices.
  7. The big news of the day for me is the fact that we actually let one - just one - starter go more than 3 1/3 innings. A five inning start for Dunn! Maybe he is going to be a starter and all the others just long men out of the pen.
  8. I am so excited by our lineup I can't count - of course Julien (200) is second where the best hitter on the team is positioned. And 143 hitting Kepler is fourth. But with the team hitting like it is, who can you bat?
  9. Thankfully we were playing the White Sox. It is hard to celebrate a victory over this AAA team (am I putting them too high? Should it be AA?) when we struggled in so many ways. Loving Larnach doing so well. But 169 Castro batting sixth? What am I missing? And 149 Santana batting seventh??????????????? Of course we had them followed by Farmer .073 and Vasquez 150 so I guess it makes sense?
  10. I have to add this Sox perspective from the Athletic - they are rated the worst team in baseball and this is the description so lets win them all, but if we do it does not mean we are back: "There’s a thread on Reddit’s White Sox community titled: Worst Chicago White Sox Ever? The original poster mentioned Jeff Keppinger (.600 OPS in 2013). Someone else said, “Nomar Mazara lmao” (.589 OPS in 2020). And it’s a mercy that thread dropped two years ago because the 2024 White Sox have a .552 team OPS. They are off to the worst start in franchise history and could be headed for big-league history. They average 2.14 runs scored per game and 5.52 runs allowed. As of Monday, Atlanta’s Marcell Ozuna is a two-homer day from tying the White Sox’s 11 homers this season. The White Sox have a .188/.264/.288 slash line and .552 OPS. The closest comp I can find is 1975 John Stearns. A whole team of Stearnses. — Nesbitt"
  11. Back injuries are so common, they have excellent techniques to repair. I have had 8 herniated disks, still taught XC skiing, whitewater canoeing, mountain climbing and winter camping. I have had two back operations, but still remember the doctor telling me when I was 17, you will not play sports again. But I did football, basketball, softball and many more. It is a matter of developing muscular support like the essay says.
  12. I am afraid the FO is too invested in him and want to prove they made a good decision. I do hope he rebounds, but right now I would put Miranda there.
  13. I can only envision SWR. Everyone else is throwing three innings or less. And if we need another starter it is going to be a really long season.
  14. True - but even out lineup looks strong compared to them. And Paddock is a major leaguer with a history while their pitcher had a 4,46 minor league era last year.
  15. Last year he had a 4.46 era in the minors. I am glad we won and I hope that the Twins have a fun playdate with the Sox, but we should win them all and hopefully the positive attitude will carry over against other teams.
  16. So glad we won. Just cannot make a lot of comments when we are playing the worst team in MLB. We just beat a pitcher with a 7.10 era. It is what we are supposed to do.
  17. Time for a change - at least SWR for Varland. Who do we have to take Paddock's place? Can we bring up someone to replace Farmer? This is two bad years for Vazquez - what next? Castro may have had a career year last year. Jax had been erratic, Thielbar has been bad, Jackson has not been good. Okert has not been what was advertised. Why is Acala in the minors? The pitching was supposed to be the strength, but too many holes. The hitting is not worth talking about - it has been covered. And we are hoping for wins against the Sox - we were supposed to beat the Tigers too.
  18. Varland is pressing. SWR needs to come up and Louie needs to go down and have some success and catch his breath. I really want him to succeed, but right now keeping him in the rotation is detrimental to him and the team.
  19. I am not sure how to judge the organization. I know we have a collective set of losing seasons at all levels. But my biggest head scratcher is why isn't Cossetti one of our top 20 prospects. I have been following him and his progress and I think he will pass Camargo.
  20. This is from SABR - "Wally Backman was perhaps the first major-league manager fired before his team played a game. His fiery personality may have cost him another chance at managing in the majors. Three times he spent short stints in jail. He declared bankruptcy. From this sordid interval in life, he emerged to become a successful minor-league manager." "Backman was having his worst year ever in Minnesota, hitting .231 for the fifth-place Twins, and was released after the season. " Today that 231 would be good in a lineup that has only two regulars and three rookies - Larnach, Martin and Miranda with higher batting averages.
  21. So glad to see Lenny Green mentioned - he is one of the forgotten CFs. Wally Backman brings back other memories.
  22. Thank you. If Kepler is ready to follow up the end of last year and not the beginning of this year or last year he will contribute a lot. Wallner is a puzzle, but only because I route for Minnesota players. His big swing is good when it connects, but connections have to be more often. Right now I like Kepler, Buxton, Kiriloff as the three OFs. But if Kepler sinks into non-production, Magot is not a regular and maybe Martin is. But we cannot afford both Buxton and Kepler hitting poorly.
  23. Those are not the stats. Agate when I went on to St. Paul saints site. If he's doing that well great
  24. Kepler has not exactly set the league on fire during his rehab - is their reason to belief he will be better when he returns?
