  1. With our offensive offense I wish we gave Carson a week straight of starts and see if he could do something. What have we got to lose?
  2. So glad we won, but my celebration is muted when I consider the team we are playing. It should not be this close.
  3. Sorry, but being gutsy and taking the mound when you cannot deliver is not a favor to the team. We could all see the problems and the results and read about the hip.
  4. Sounds good until you factor in the two runners he inherited and let score. A RP is supposed to stop the bleeding, but getting them off the bases by letting them score is not good. I am always more interested in a RP's inherited runner statistics than ERA. He does not seem MLB ready. An Miranda getting caught off base is the kind of mental mistake that doomed him in Minneapolis.
  5. I still expect that he will continue to rise to star status - not superstar (but many players are given that title without earning it). I would stay with him as an everyday starter. Lewis has looked so good in the beginning, but injuries and missed time do take a toll. I still hope he can reach his new level of potential. I am less worried about them than Correa. The article Gleeman did in the Athletic about his clutch ability, his diminished power, his age and lessening fielding skills raise a lot of questions going forward. He is no longer a hitter that should be in the top four lineup positions, but the rest of the team has not hit enough to put him at 5 or 6. Now we have to hope Keaschall comes back and does what he has done in the past, but just like Lewis we have to see what recovery is.
  6. Surprised but happy with your choice. I expected Ryan, but had not been paying as much attention as I should to Louie.
  7. This is taking his ailment from physical to mental. He needs a break and we can try some minor leaguers like Pierson Ohl. This is just not acceptable unless management has given up on the season.
  8. All I can say is Skubal once again demonstrated that wins matter and good pitchers get them if they have a good manager
  9. At one time I thought - we have the prospects we don't need to add more, but many of the prospects have dimmed for me like Winokur and Em and the pitching pipeline no longer looks great so I guess it is good to speculate on getting new blood, but there are two stats that are meaningful - end of contract and no desire to resign - like Paddock and age. Castro and Bader have been great additions and I would be reluctant to trade either, but will we sign them again? Danny Coulombe has done great but he is 35, not a long future for him. Justin Topa is 34, but I don't think he has any trade value. Christian Vasquez is 34 - but was old at 32 - who needs a catcher fill in at his price? Brock Stewart is 33 and breaks down every year - is he worth anything on the market? If I add a third question - who do we have to replace them? I would not trade Duran and Jax - getting good RP in this age of 5 pitchers per game is not easy. If Ober gets fixed he is in the same category. We have to replace Paddock, do we trust our pitcher prospects to step in for him?
  10. Has Ohl become the next man up? It is an important question because it is time to rest Ober. And as the trade deadline gets closer we may lose Paddock.
  11. Wentz is gone - we seem to always push the pitches on players just before we release them. Why did we let Bailey go further than we did Festa? I am really sorry because Ober has been such a good story. Give him an IL to heal, relax and return
  12. Disappointed Royce Lewis. Surprise - how often Bride was on the mound Disappointed with Vasquez bat Everything else was covered in the article and in the comments so far.
  13. I love this game and the way the Twins played. My Nitpick of the day is that Festa should have been extended until he showed he was losing it. They could have saved one of their principal RP for another game.
  14. This is a perfect example of the contraction, we aren't going to spend money ownership that has not figured out how to capitalize on success but knows how to pile on when things go bad. Just stupid and I did not care if he was hired or fired.
  15. Now there is a scouting report that is bound to get us excited. Maybe Wentz can be his opener and Bride can close!
  16. Where is that outstanding SP? The young pitchers are struggling but the Vets are not leading by example.
  17. What can we say? They stunk. Wentz is another bottom feeder pickup. He was cut by the Pirates and Rocco keeps using him. DFA is the only response his performance warrants. Ober on the IL or we need more information because he has looked terrible. So much to say. What is the positive. The fact that Rocco will be back?
  18. This is fun speculation - the only type article the Twins have provided for the writers at this point. But I have no strong feelings on this. Not sure I trust Falvey to get the return we want, not sure what the Twins future will be, not sure about the rookie pitchers and their potential. And not sure about the next owner and management and when or if that happens. Keep speculating. That is all that is left for us before we win 13 in a row again.
  19. I don't like it. Never have - even for Tampa Bay and they seem to be in a league of their own. We do not have the arms in the BP to make this work. If we want to really stop the first inning lineup - use Duran. Otherwise give your starter the ball and ride with him as long as possible.
  20. I am beginning to think that TD writers have be challenged to report on this club, speculate about All Star votes, write up injured players returning, posting Baldelli's what am I going to say now interviews, listing prospects that we hope replace the prospects we have already put in the lineup and roster. In this month we have failed at starting pitching, opening, relief pitching, closing, pinch hitting, lineup construction, scoring runs, not scoring runs, hitting home runs, standing still on the bases, defensive rankings and defensive short comes. What is left? We might not believe in prospects anymore, but at least there are interesting games for the minor league reports.
  21. Luckily I forgot that it was an afternoon game. Lucky me. It seems to me that the best BP in MLB has been going down the drain. Overuse? Wrong use? What is happening? I know they are trying to get the offense going again - why else would they start Bride?
