  1. Pitching has always been more important than hitting. If Lopez and Ryan are gone and they are just as likely to trade both as keep both, who could we get for their combined salary to lead the rotation? Our pipeline has no one ready to move to 1 and 2 and Ober just sunk position 3. Keep them both - that is my arbitrary decision.
  2. Don't be so sure - I would have said the same for Gaspar and Bride. Falvey might want him so he can claim to be a talent genius.
  3. Some plan would help - some consistent strategy - not changing the formula every year. Figure out what kind of team you want to be and move that way. But based on the players we have and project where is that high level of defense coming from?
  4. Wow - the early question on TD was if we were becoming the Pirates - considering we just picked up a DFA from the Pirates I guess we just sunk below them. Way to get the fan based excited!
  5. No choice here - especially when another failed prospect - Miranda is next in line.
  6. Maybe TD can do a complete creative look if we combine the AAA and MLB rosters what is the best combination of players on the field, rotation and pen. This might be more realistic than thinking they will sign of trade for someone significant.
  7. There is both DH and 1B where Wallner can be used and Larnach if he is still on the team. But it depends on Rodriguez and Walker - Roden and Outman and Martin don't fill the corner OF spots if we are looking to upgrade, but Martin has the best potential of the three. We also have Gonzales with a hot bat that does not do as well in the OF. A little creativity and some help to let the rookies adjust and we can take care of 1B for more than a few months.
  8. I have no idea - at this point with all the coaches that we hire I do not know what to expect - so maybe a cheer leader is the right answer. But somehow more coaches do not make a better team. Every athlete we sign was a star at some level so maybe it is a mental hurdle. After seeing the Brewers beat the cubs - hurray with no more star power than we have I think that we have to go back to team efforts, not waiting for one player to carry a team. The Angels with the Mike Trout legacy could not win, but the Brewers and other teams without the biggest stars do if everyone buys into doing what they are capable of.
  9. The sad thing is the fact that there are so many measurements that tell us how bad the team and individuals were.
  10. I would feel better if he were not looked at is the top leverage arm. He's a good mid level bullpen arm but he's not a closer yet if we're going to take advantage of young prospects and move up we need to add a couple of bullpen arms that are better than his. But there is no question that he should be tendered
  11. I do not trade either Lopez or Ryan. We see need them and Buxton - that is a three part anchor to keep the Twins from sinking completely. They are what you build on. We are not going to get better than they already are. I am not anxious for a 2030 rebuild. Let's make this the bottom. With the potential we have in Jenkins, Rodriguez, Gonzales, Culpepper there is a chance at least half of them succeed and if so we can start rising again. Move some young SP arms to the BP and let's change the attitude of the team and the fans. It really is a question of the Pohlads and if they want a championship contender or just a bigger saving account.
  12. My arbitrary thought is that we have a lot of players who should be replaced, but not all will be.
  13. Another way to look at the team is to stack them up in rank among the local teams - Vikings Timberwolves Lynx Wild Gophers Loons Saints or Twins
  14. I am hardly attached to any of the current Twins. They are the baseline - move them out and raise the floor.
  15. Such a sad perspective and way to realistic for Twins fans. Please let us have a rookie that comes up, stays healthy and produces - that works for other teams.
  16. Move on. If we have him in 2026 we are definitely not improving.
  17. One correction - last five games - Varland gave up zero runs. The trade had to shock him too. For most improved I would say Buxton - just by playing so many games and setting so many new standards. Otherwise I make it SWR who really became the best SP on the staff the last month. Sentimentally yes - Clemens rose from DFA to a fun player who I hope does not start in 2026.
  18. There was only one answer - no suspense. I am sorry we lost Bader - I really liked what he brought in. So who would get the least valuable player? I know we have a lot of DFAs so I hesitate to look at them. Julien and Gaspar are my choices although Wallner, Larnach, Clemens, Lee, Lewis has periods where they were higher in the rankings. In the pitching side I found too many to choose from and often such small samples. So let's start with ERA over 7 (non pitchers excluded) and work our way up: Travis Adams 7.49 Genesis Cabrera 7.98 Mick Abel 8.36 Jorge Alcala 8.88 Anthony Misiewixz 9.64 Brooke Kriske 11.25 Joey Wentz 15.75 Noah Davis 16.20 Now it would be easy to choose Noah and he was terrible but overall it is more an indictment of the scrap heap signings of Falvey. Since Alcala was in 22 games and expected to be a key part of the BP I would choose him. If we go by WAR Travis Adams at -0.9 just beats out Alcala at -0.8 (which ties him with Kriske). In total we had 13 players with worse pitching WAR than Willi Castro.
  19. What isn't working is the ownership of the Pohlads. I know we can't spend like the dodgers and the Yankees, but when I look at the Brewers and the guardians and some of the other low budget teams I see more hope than what this team has given us. We have sacrificed so much quality constantly saying the new prospects will raise the bar and I am 80 so waiting for the next championship is not looking very promising.
  20. If Falvey has fired Baldelli before tearing the team apart or if he had not extended Baldelli at a time when it seemed like a slap in the face to fans or if he had said that they had pulled the rug out from Baldelli, but he would be given another chance to right the ship... So many ifs on a team that is the epitome of WHAT IF from selling the team to building the team. Maybe we should just build another stadium. They said they needed Target Field to be able to afford a winner. What I realize now is that they did not say they would field a winner, just that they could afford to.
  21. Time to move on - the new manager needs to have a new team - coaching staffs need to support and compliment one another.
