  1. I cannot equate him with Rooker - he has more than had a chance and I agree that change of venue could do wonders for him like it did for Rooker.
  2. What you emphasize comes back to the mantra I have had for the entire season - get one more inning out of every SP. The third time around for them is still better than over using Varland, wondering what Stewart and Jax will do on any given day, or (shudder) seeing Alcala come in. The best BP in the league is not doing its job. Duran is getting through the innings, but I have not seen a clean inning if a while. We need a new strategy and I sill advocate bringing in Matthews and Festa and having them piggyback with the starters who are only going to go 4 - 5 innings. We have to do something. No mention of McCusker
  3. I am ready to see the Matthew arm in the majors - nothing left to prove - give him a job as SWR's partner since 5 innings is max for him. Let's see what he can do. We have Paddock on the end of his contract, we have SWR good, but probably at his max and we need to see what we have.
  4. We choose to be small city - the Pohlads want to sell the team for $1.7 billion. Does that sound small? The Pohlads are far from the The Ranker has Jim Pohlad #1`2 of 30 owners - Jim Pohlad Team: Minnesota Twins Net worth: $3.6 billion (source) Inheriting the role after his father Carl's death in 2009, Jim Pohlad has been at the helm of the Minnesota Twins as chairman and part-owner. The Pohlad family, who made their fortune in banking and real estate, purchased the Twins in the 1980s. Under Jim's leadership, the franchise has thrived, achieving a valuation of $1.39 billion by 2023. In November 2022, he passed daily operations to his nephew Joe Pohlad, ensuring the team's future remains in family hands. Media watch has us number 15 in media Markets out of 188 with teams in various sports. CBS says Milwaukee is the current smallest MLB market with an estimated metro population of 1.56 million.
  5. This is why he won't shake up the roster with players in AAA - we won't sign FA, only DFA players. We won't make big trades. Falvey has to see where this is going and observe the empty seats, the lack of tv audience, and the malaise that is only going to get worse. Blaming Gleeman reminds me of the blame the press attitude in so many parts of our country. Come on Falvey show some energy.
  6. I believe that a FO that has a losing record is also subjective to unemployment. I stand by my recommendation
  7. That does not change my opinion - bring them up, send them down - just don't settle for the status quo
  8. Why use AAA prospects in Minneapolis where the major league team is tearing the cover off the ball when the prospects can just languish in the tropics of St Paul. This team is so stubborn when it comes to prospects and meanwhile around the league I am seeing more and more young call ups.
  9. Rocco - maybe the pen needs a rest. Varland is over worked, the top 5 have been in 12 - 16 of the games. That is not sustainable. And Alcala just does not have it. Put a SP in the pen, someone who can piggy back and give us innings since you don't like the SP to go 8 or 9 (and most of the time 6 or 7). Too painful. I just don't have the words. The SP have now gone 164 out or 276 innings. How about McCusker - I know how stubborn execs can be, but let's get someone who has the potential to sting the ball. Do something Twins or there will be no one in the stands by the end of the season.
  10. I love the crazy fascination with the FB because great pitchers have not always been fastball freaks. Randy Johnson was a contrast to Maddox, Spahn contrasted with Koufax. It is the fastball that seems to be taxing the arms of pitchers in this era, so maybe Ober has a longer shelf life than this article might suggest.
  11. To my shock - I agree and I criticized the France move. I would still have Keaschall #2 and Wallner #3 and Buxton #4. And the new hitting coach wearing a bag over his head.
  12. It still comes back to having a pitcher who is going well pitch further into the game. Paddack could have gone another inning or two or at least try. This has been the story all year. This was game 32 - Varland's 16th appearance!
  13. I continue to see McCusker producing and the Twins MLB team not hitting. Yet we can have Clemens, Gaspar, and Bride while leaving McCusker to spend his hits in AAA. We did this with Wallner last year. Try something new - I think we have a number of expendables on the 40 man.
  14. We might want to avoid using him every other day. I like what he has accomplished, but Duran has a fill the bases problem, Jax has an explosion problem, Topa doesn't open or close well. Alcala throws batting practice. RP are supposed to throw multiple times a week and respond to Roccos call to the pen problem. But let's boil it down to two things - SP go longer, hitters drive is some runs (not just big explosions once in a while)
  15. It is the umps, it is the rain, it is bad luck, it is Twins baseball. So much frustration. And please tell Duran he does not have to load the bases before getting the last out. Otherwise I am running out of comments. Please send me a list I can cut and paste or I won't make it through the season.

  17. Umpires are always criticized. They have how many calls per game? Yes there are some lousy ones and I am in favor of the electronic strike zone. But I keep seeing the umps mentioned in almost all our losses. The same umps are there for both teams and it is usually the bad team that finds the most faults with the umpires. Our problem is not with the men who call the game, it is with those who play and manage the team.
  18. I was criticized yesterday for saying that I did not think Julien was doing his job as lead-off. Evidently Rocco agreed, but that does not make me feel better when Gasper is the solution. I feel like I should just have a paste option for why pull the SP. But old Rocco and I really diverge here. Is our BP so great that we don't want to have our SP face the next rotation of the lineup? I thought SP was a strength. 19% of the season done - fans looking at Wild and Wolves, talking about drafts and United and Lynx. Are the Twins number six in the professional pecking order now or am I missing some other teams and leagues?
  19. Nice profile. One thing that is constantly brought up is that a batter is hitting against older pitchers. Does it matter. Those older pitchers are at that level for a reason. Does anyone give extra credit to our batters if the get a hit against Verlander?
  20. Watching McCusker hit bombs in AAA reminds me of last year when we wasted so many Wallner hits before bringing him up. Julien is not performing - let's give Carson a week or two of DH and see if he can make some noise with the Twins.
  21. It is fascinating to see all the comments that cover what I was thinking as I watched the end of the game - why four relievers again? 30 games into the season and Varland has been in 15! and six more have been in 10 - 12. Too many. Can our Ace go 8? France has shocked me in a good way. I apologize for my skepticism, but this low scoring game highlights, again, our need for productive bats. The light hitting Cleveland team had 5 players with BA of 250 - 333. We had three above 250 is starting lineup - France, Lee and Bride and Bride has 19 ABs. Without Bride's sss France and Lee are 267 and 256. Julien is not cutting it as leadoff, but who goes there now that we know Wallner is out for a few more weeks and Keaschall months?
  22. No chance to match this. NBA and NFL have colleges doing their prep work for them. I do not know most of the baseball players in the draft. I don't know if they are good or not - I rely on TD to give me insight. I don't watch any drafts, but I think MLB is a long way from this spectacle. MLB is not even good at getting their best players recognized.
  23. If I was him I would sign with someone else, just to see if my luck changed. The orioles need RP
