I think you can replace SWR with Matthews in you rotation statement. I think they have more hope with Zebby. Not sure, but I try to see how they handle them and Zebby has passed both Festa and SWR as far as I can see. Ober seems in danger of dropping and Lopez and Ryan could be traded so let's see what next years rotation can be.

Blue Jays 9, Twins 8: Welcome to Thunderdome

Amazing I had been worried about the bullpen. Still am, but are starting pitching has been horrendous. What has been our ERA for starting pitchers over the last week? -
Your essay is too correct. It's just really hard to see where we're going and everybody in baseball looks to the prospects to be the next great heroes. But you outlined and your essay how we have failed with previous wonderful prospects. What makes us believe that this next group will get here prosper and develop to what we hope they can be? Perhaps the most puzzling thing to me is how the owners can be so deaf to the fans and their responses I really think it's not just a low point in twins on the field. I think it's going to be really hard the fans back into target field.

I agree. So the question is does wallner Lock up when there are runners on base or is it just a case that we don't have runners on base very often?

Good game. Only Ober really disappointed. Does he need to be shut down for a while?

So far he is great - Lewis was the first 100 ABs too and Julien looked like he would be good and so did Miranda. If Luke continues I will be delighted - is one enough?

I love these write ups. I just wish I saw minor league success translate to MLB success in the Twins organization.

I have no idea how to judge coaches - is it one coach, is it systemic to the entire coaching staff from beginning to end, is there one person in management who is the problem? Why blame Rocco and not the bench coach, the quality control coach, of the person acquiring the talent? I don't know where to begin. I remember our anguish over losing Rowson - now he is with the Yankees. He has Judge, Stanton, Rice, Bellinger. We have Buxton, Wallner, Larnach, Clemens....

What's left to say? What is there to Hope for the rest of this year. It is depressing and I applaud the fans that can see a silver lining.- 108 replies

Good comments. I am glad to see Abel and pleased with Hatch but still time before decisions. Three solo HRs. We need runners on base and big hits when they are. Time for a prospect instead of Outman.

SWR is interesting when I compare his era with Festa, Ober, and Matthews we could make a case that he should replace them. It always seems like he is singled out among starters but he has accumulated 1.5 WAR this year and 2 last year. I do not see him as a really good pitcher, but on a team with only Ryan leading the way in the rotation, he is adequate. I hope one of the young guys you listed beat out Roden and I hope we see more OF hitting - not sure Wallner and Larnach are really the answers there or 1B or DH. I don't see Royce leaving or the team giving up on him. We struggled through a lot of down years with Buxton but waited out health and got the star we wanted. I see Royce on the same path.

I am ready for some more promotions - Outman doesn't do it for me. Give a young batter a chance. Same with Julien - I know he got two hits last night, but everyone hit against the Sox. I just went to the BR page to see the Twins batting stats. Looking just at BA (I still like this stat) and out of 23 batters this year 6 are hitting under 200. Mickey Gaspar is 117 and still on the team and playing? And Julien is 198. Six are hitting below Lewis 233 and four are on the current roster. So of 23 batters for the year 13 are hitting 233 or lower! Of the remaining 10 batters above 233 - 4 are gone in the big house cleaning. I think we started on the wrong end of the list. Out team BA is 238, If we look at OPS 10 are under 650 with Gaspar at 387 and 5 are on the current roster. Martin escapes at 657. And of course out of the other 12 four are traded. Team OPS 705. Of course we aren't winning and its time for some real experiments - give the young players a chance - I do not care about their time before arbitration - well before that they will be DFA'd, traded, or signed. Or, how about pitching. BR has 33 pitchers for the year which includes Bride - our team era is 4.27 11 pitchers have an era under 3 (this includes Willi Castro) - we have 2 left. We have three more with eras in the 3's. They are all on the team. We have 13 (includes Clemens and Bride) with eras over five which includes Ober, Festa, Matthews, Then we have 10 with eras over 6 and six of them in double figures. Yes Bride and Clemens are on this list and Cabrera is our active double digit era leader.

I hate to say it, but despite the win, we also established that we are on a par with the SOX. Let's hope we use this slugfest to right the ship and keep Chicago with their losing ways.

I have been concerned about over coaching for a long time with this analytic driven team. I remember Buxton's early years when they changed his batting stance, approach, etc every other month and he finally said screw it. Let's hope they are not trying to change Keaschall.

The refusal to bring up the pitchers they got in trades emphasizes the fact that they're playing to lose and really don't care about the rest of us and what we might enjoy
