    I will take pleasure in his wins. Like I posted in another response - in 1972 the Phillies won 59 games, Steve Carlton won 27. Those wins have extra meaning for me.

    He should - I think he is already in the discussion. It reminds me of Steve Carlton who won 27 games for the Philadelphia Phillies team that finished the season with only 59 wins.

    I know most of you hate WINS, but Joe is 12 - 5 a team that is 57 - 63. Wins do matter and they reflect his quality. It means pitching at least 5 innings, taking the mound regularly and not letting the other team dictate the game. I love it. He is number three in wins behind Crochet and Peralta! Tied with Rodon, Pfaat, and Pivetta. Keep going Joe!

    Yes stability means predictability which means boring! Sorry this is too soon to try to make something positive out of our disappointment.

    I am still trying to process this. The entire gambit was to get someone else to pay for the debt that the Pohlads incurred in their other businesses. When others looked at the team and the lack of public support that had accrued by the Pohlad missteps they knew the cost was too great. This is the same family that was okay with the team being eliminated in the 2001 contraction plan - another money grab that fell through. So enthusiasm?????

    Based on 99 pitches I suspect that hatch was our sacrificial pitchers and if we follow a form he will be DFAed. And our one hit team seems to be going back to form.

    Royce also looked amazing when he first started. As excited as I have been with Luke, let's wait before making judgments.

    The only opinion I have with this is that they title is correct - way to early.

    We wanted him - twice. Other teams pointed out the flaws. We said, we don't care, we can fix anything. We can't. He signed - twice, the last time we were the third team in line but were still standing when the music played so he came to us. No one made us pay all that money. Look at the Mets - Soto did not bring the pennant with him. They still need to earn it and it isn't happening. Is it Soto's fault? No. Would you take the money if someone is rich enough and dumb enough to take it? Of course. We came to a point where we were letting Correa down and we felt he was letting us down. He accepted a trade. We moved on. He moved on. No one's fault. To the fans - time for us to move on too.

    I am just enjoying the moment, just as I did when Lewis came up and looked like a superstar! It can all change, but I would love to see Keaschall make the adjustments that take him to the next level.

    Watching him in the field convinced me that he will not be a SS for the Twins. Time to move him around and find a place for his bat. He looks awkward and slow for a SS based on my limited observations.

    I am enjoying the enthusiasm. All these players have the pressure of the playoffs reduced and they are playing for their future. It is fun to see some of the new players getting a chance, but I think Gaspar has shown who he is and will be in the future. There needs to be someone else in his roster position. Keaschall has been amazing, but remember Lewis and his grand slams. Slow down the expectations and enjoy his attitude and fun. He too will slump. But the team attitude is the most enjoyable part of the game right now. Martin is never going to be the great player we hoped for at the trade, but he is serviceable on the bench and that is where he belongs. Someone commented on thirty ABs for Roden, this year he has 125 and a -0.3 WAR and 197/271/307/ His minor league stats look good, but so does Gaspar's. By the end of the year we should know who he is - the team seems to believe in him. But I still hope for some more of the young prospects to get a chance.

    I think the theme of comments is about Gaspar (and I agree). Today he is supposed to catch. That is a sad indictment for a team that knows Vasquez is gone after this year. Ober did well, but still does not look like the pitcher we expect. His velocity is not going to play against really good hitting teams.

    The Rockies, Pirates, White Sox lead the most disappointing list, San Diego was always going to beat the Dodgers, but always came up frustratingly short. As another commentator said - NY is always disappointed in results especially when they do spend big. But none of that takes away from the premise of this essay. Yes we have been so disappointed and the reason is that as fans we feel so strongly that one or two moves in any of these years might have been the difference. Our disappointment has to begin off the field - owners and Front Office. Then it is on the field where we were too smart for the rest of MLB and got Correa after two other teams looked at his physicals and said no thanks. Our prospects always seem so shiny. Lewis came up looking like the next Juan Soto, Wallner flashed 40 HR power, Lee was a man with high BB IQ and lineage. Vasquez was going to give us $10m per year value behind the plate. Each new coach was going to unlock what the last ones couldn't. Yes, I am disappointed, but then that is baseball.

    Too Soon. A lot needs to happen and more will happen. I will just wait and see.

    Keaschall has had a magic season and I would love to see it continue, but I felt the same with Lewis' beginning. I just keep marveling at his enthusiasm and his ability so far. He has the potential to be really great. The energy of this team has really changed. The BP is a problem and will continue to be, but still it is fun and I hope they continue to be loose and play with joy.

    No to all of them - keep working to produce a young and fast SS. I have no idea if the two prospects will pan out - the past expectations certainly have not.

    Compare Lee to Castro and utility looks like a stretch - but maybe he will find instruction this winter and surprise and please us all in the future.

    I am 80, I have been a Twins fan since ushering in year one. They have now been here 64 years. How many of those years were hope years? How many times were we saying, wait till next year or until the next wave of prospects comes up. Hope is good, better than the Rockies and Pirates, but come on, just two years our hope was about now - not the future.

    True - I hope he becomes the Hrbek of the next iteration.

    No - Winfield, Morris and Molitor were short term good pickups. Varland is showing potential to be a closer and has 5 years left of service time. We just emptied the BP. So you are welcome to lose your mind, but I think he is the biggest loss of the trade season.

    It is fun to see all the reactions. I don't know what the grades should be. I do think that in this era of BP being so essential we had enough youth in pen that we should have kept Varland and one of Duran or Jax. I see us moving forward and suddenly desperate for BP help. We could have been better off in the future with a little more strategic thought. Like everyone I think Castro was a steal. I am sorry to see him go.

    For the same reason I applaud Buxton for staying where he wants to be I have to think about Curt Flood and his stance against a trade that he did not want to participate in. No matter the callous and objective look at the players as chattel that can be moved and traded whenever and wherever I do think the Varland trade was bad for a team that needs fan loyalty and also needs a shut down arm in the pen. We brought Winfield, Morris, Molitor here to finish their careers because of their hometown appeal. We had Hrbek and then Mauer to keep the local connection. I do think it adds to the team if the players are, in fact, good and productive.

    And so the bar measuring hope for the fans just rose a few notches. We need that. Twins playing with some spirit, new additions making excellent debuts.
