  1. When I look at the lineup, the amazing thing is bader and walner are the only two with batting averages over 230. I do think batting averages are worth looking at and this is pretty pathetic.
  2. But then it is Miami and somehow they have figured out how to use pitcher to their maximum strength.
  3. The Twins have really done a good job of losing the excitement of the MLB season already. They may turn things around and I hope they do, but when the fan base is already upset by the proposed sale that did not happen, the crushing - we are going to reduce the payroll, the inactivity in trades and FA, the TV mess, and the terrible ending to last year we need something really good to happen soon to get the fans back or it will be fishing and cabin season and the best the team can hope for is a good radio audience.
  4. Looking at the Saints BP that is not where the Twins BP is going to improve. We have to shuffle SP into the pen if we are going to get better.
  5. No mention of our favorite DFA pitcher - Dobnak. I would also be in favor of Paddock in the BP and Zebby in the rotation. Something has to change.
  6. I do not know the solution. Both pitchers and hitters have a sluggish beginning this year. I am interested in how many posts talk about a lack of fire - not sure how you ramp up that excitement. I guess yesterday it was Buxton getting hit in the hand, not a good solution. Weather is impacting everyone, injuries are impacting most teams - the excuses don't work. Why does Ober start each season so poorly? Did he not get enough spring reps? Why was Paddock blasted? It is not just the hitters and along with that we do not have the fielding I would like to see. No solution - just observations. Is it Rocco or some of his huge coaching staff? He has a bench coach and an assistant bench coach - what are the doing, seeing, saying?
  7. Sad that sox couldn't propel the team to a place where they could start their home season with a win Beating the white Sox is not enough to get the fans engaged. This poor team can't figure out how to win at home or on the road or in public relations.
  8. If we hadn't stunk the end of last year, this start might have been one we could overlook and say it happens to the best of teams. But the reality is that we are all left with the 2024 season ending slump and hoped to not see it continue in 2025. So now let's hope that the team will face better pitching and have better at bats. For fans. All we could do is Hope
  9. Not sure how to take this. Is it important to win - of course. The negativity is not just in the fans - don't think ballplayers are not aware of what records there are. Do they press, are they frustrated? Yes and yes. If we were blown out by the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies we have some more ability to write it off. The Cards and Sox were 125 - 200 .384. We are suppose look forward to these series. Don't make fun of the fans who worry, don't panic over the SSS record, and don't underestimate the urgency of turning this around.
  10. The issue is the pension more than the season use. Randy is lucky he has a good guaranteed contract, other guys get a couple of days of high pay and then get dropped. Not sure how this works out, but at least the low pay in the minors was addressed recently.
  11. While it wasn't enjoyable and it isn't the same as the sinking of the Titanic, I have enjoyed having a real summary after weeks of reading about Ober for Cy Young, the best BP in MLB, how we can win the WS. I know those are talking points and you need to fill the columns. But talking about the real season is the most interesting and at times the most depressing.
  12. I love the prospects coming up, but I have to remind myself that I was excited by Lee, Lewis, Miranda, Kiriloff, Larnach, Julien too. I would love to see them rise up force their way on to the team and have the Twins use their extra capital for one or two significant trades.
  13. Too early for that judgment. We need to see how the season plays out. Injuries and trades will make the decision.
  14. I just have not been impressed by him throughout his time and I think the twins gave him all the opportunity he could ask for. Sometimes a player just doesn't have it. For his sake it might be vested DFA and let some other organization pick him up and give him a chance. I don't think he's worth anything in a trade and we definitely have a group of players coming up that are going to make it even more difficult.
  15. Still too early. Obviously Rocco's new ST strategy does not have us sprinting, but I am still waiting for another 10 games.
  16. No - and Ryan and Lopez are no's too. I just want them to pitch well and take us to the playoffs. Cy Young pitchers have something really special about them. At this point I do not see that trait. I think Grant just wanted to be different - and good for him.
  17. That is 15 names - I hope we don't have a disaster. Since we have had Festa and Mathews already and they are next in line - what are your 3 - 5 guys on your list that you really expect to see? I would say Morris, Keaschall, and Walker would be a nice threesome.
  18. I am just amazed at all the posts and everything that the commentors read into this opening, rain delayed, road game. The season has started. I am ready for both wins and losses. I give it a week before I am seriously engaged So nice to see Bader HR! Nice to see Keirsey SB. Lopez might need to practice not balking. Go Twins
  19. Does it matter? Maybe this is our rainy day platoon.
  20. The infield looks pretty thin without listing Keaschall and Eeles and pretty old. With the talent coming up I think Martin needs to hope for a trade. The BP looks interesting but if Dobnak can beat them out I certainly have lower expectations.
  21. So anxious for the real season - so many forecasts and none will be remembered in November.
