I'm sorry to say but I am underwhelmed. I really want something to happen where it's exciting and gives us hope. But replacing Duran is a challenge that this team will not be up to. I just really believe his level of closer has to have been worth more than what we got.

Red Sox 13, Twins 1: Is This Selling?
mikelink45 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
After this game I was dreaming of what I would write if I were the TD correspondent stuck with covering this: Red Sox 13, Twins 1: Is This Selling? We stunk! Zebby Matthews has not turned the corner - at least not the one we hoped for. The batters stunk - only Wallner gets a pass The fielding stunk - who cares if Jeffers had the PB removed - Bader is our defensive stalwart and enough said. The RP stunk and Noah is no longer a secret weapon Maybe Griffin just doesn't want to get traded - great audition. WPA worst players - The Twins team Oh, by the way the 3B coach stunk again too.- 60 replies

So much argument over a meaningless move. The real points for me are the fact that the team decided that even with Ober struggling, Festa, Morris and Lopez on IL we were willing to get rid of a pitcher who could fill in every five days - how well? Do we care about winning more games or are we done with it> Next two days will tell and I do not mean as fans how do we feel, I want to know the club thoughts. Second Tigers lost starters and needed that every 5 day arm - they got him at a very low cost. Evidently trading within the division does not matter. Now we can speculate on Paddack value to them the rest of the year. Check this site for Tigers IL. They are down two of their primary starters and need arms for the rest of the year. What is next for the Twins. I hope it is something more interesting.

What a game - one question that many of you could answer for me - what is the record of our young pitchers in their first game in the majors. Festa and Matthews did not shine in theirs. Ohl and Adams have not looked good at all so far. I keep wondering when we will get a minor leaguer who come in and look good from the beginning. I know we do not have a Skenes or Misiorowski, but the pipeline that has dominated our discussions since Falvey arrived should deliver someone who can come in strong. It looks like Matthews might turn a corner, but is it how we prep these players in the minors? Glad to see love for Lee again - comments about him have been too harsh. The team defense really looked bad again and I do worry about that phase of the game. If you want the rookie pitchers to have a chance someone catching the ball is a good place to start.

It is hard to comment - it seemed inevitable, but we all hoped for a full season Buxton, just to have one really positive story for the year. Correa's lightheadedness yesterday is another concern although his play will not be missed like Byron's

Perhaps I need one of those leads that suggest sarcasm - but like most sarcasm there is also some truth in what I am saying and Adams is 18 - 30 with a 4.41 era over five minor league seasons. with a 1.260 WHIP.

No - it is just a release of frustration. True most will fail, but so are the players we are using now.

Please explain to me how precious our 40 man roster is and why we can't bring up Eeles and maybe the entire Saints lineup for the Minneapolis mirages. Who knows it might just work. And please Adams does not belong on the pitching staff, of course a few more don't belong their either. Bring up the prospects, we aren't going to make meaningful trades, lets get some excitement in the stadium again.

The sad part of this loss is a fact that we're going to have to listen or read speculation about trades until this deadline finally ends. Fact is no one knows what this front office or ownership group will do or wants to do.

What a sad day. This was pathetic again. We play Colorado and Washington and can't win a series. When Lee, Lewis, and wallner were due up in the 9th inning My first thought was these are the three prospects we have been expecting to rise up and lift the team to new heights. So much for that thought. Then there's a question about Adams. When we added him to the 40 man a long time ago my first question was who is he and now that I've seen him come up a few times My question is who is he and why is he on the 40 man. Shouldn't we look at some of the other high-end prospects and see what they can do.? I'm trying to picture what I see as the next iteration of twins. And I'd like to see it soon. Buxton, bader, and Walker in the outfield. Keaschall, Lewis, Lee and Jeffers. Rodriguez and Gonzales at first and DH. Jeffers catching. That is the best I can picture now but SS should be Culpeper soon.

Twins 1, Nationals 0: The Zebulon Show
mikelink45 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The offense was offensive as we have seen all year, but maybe Zebby has turned the corner. I have been a fan of his through his minor league ride and I think this is the pitcher we want behind Lopez and Ryan.- 41 replies

The assessment of players is a difficult task - Look at the TD prospect rankings over the last ten years and how well we all picked the stars. Do we draft well? I have no idea but the TD articles seem to suggest we do. When we got Correa much of our comments were excitement - we finally got the big one. Yup = that has not worked out. So Management and coaches, front office - cosmic rays and aurora borealis - I have no idea, but I would like to see some efforts made that suggest we are addressing the problems.

Maybe we have too many coaches. Too many voices and the players don't seem to hear any of it or they can't adjust. It is discouraging but perhaps we also overestimate what we have. Which leads to the question for the rest of this year and the future are we in limbo until I no ownership comes in?

Luke Keaschall If the start in MLB was not a fluke - he is ready to contribute and we need him.Walker Jenkins Can he stay healthy? He has the talent, but we have had too many IL specialists over the years. Kaelen Culpepper He is really looking good - high hopes or too high hopes?Dasan Hill Could he be our Skenes? Love to see him prosper quicklyCharlee Soto He is living up to expectations this year.Connor Prielipp He has the talent if he stays healthyMarek Houston We have to hope that he lives up to expectations. I went to the cedar rapids game and it was really boring. Pulling our starting pitcher after three endings didn't make any sense. The relief pictures to followed don't have anything that looked major league and their arsenals. What I was hoping would happen was to see Winukor look like the prospect we've rated but seeing him a shortstop left me with the feeling that he could never make it there in the majors. He looked awkward, his reactions were slow and I saw none of the grace that I would expect in a shortstop prospect. On the other hand our third baseman look like he had the glove and reactions to hold down that position.

I have to join the commenters and advise that we slow down the criticism. I think it was Kelly who said we had to see a thousand at bats to really judge a player.

Week in Review: Rocky Re-entry
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I remember teams like the Mets and Indians who won because of pitching. I hold on to the quality pitchers, find some key hitters to make the lineup better, hold on to Bader and his defense - I am a believer in good defense and promote every prospect until we get a team we like. I am not ready to gut the team, but I would certainly recommend some strategic surgery.- 12 replies
