  1. This just doesn't seem like a problem to me. When you have that many options it will work out.
  2. You knew he would get in - all the articles have been building momentum and that seems to be the way so many get in. I would cut the time on the ballot to five years myself = in fact my preference would be a ballot with all the names on a list with two boxes - in or out and then move on. With all the committees the HOF is getting watered down, but then in reality it does not matter and those who do not get in like Rose, Bonds, Clemens, Shoeless Joe get more publicity than those who make it.
  3. I am not comfortable with the Twins getting so much applause. Duran was down, Thielbar dropped quickly and BPs can be so erratic. I see Cleveland and then a three tie with Detroit, but I have no real confidence that anyone will look the same next year. However, I did really enjoy your series. Thanks for the effort.
  4. Not that long ago there was a four-man rotation and then we moved into the era where we use all 13 pictures with all the bullpen action. Hard to watch and think about these changes and what they mean. The biggest question is can you find six really good starters? Maybe we're lucky and can do it.
  5. Time to tweak the fanbase and sell some tickets. I will just wait and see - no expectations, but happy to be surprised by a real move - nothing they have done so far counts for a real move.
  6. I am one who would like to see McCusker get a chance to fill that first base or DH role. He has shown some real talent and I know he's not rated high by everyone but he has the feeling of the old Frank Howard. Joe adcock kind of a player. And right now we need to fill that slot and a lineup. I think he's worth giving a shot. Not sure Miranda's back Will hold up and not sure that. Julian will make the comeback that we all hope. Like others on here. I'm excited to see what Eeles can do.
  7. Yes - it is very good, but Sebastian Joe's in Minneapolis and Love's in Duluth are the best in MN. - Leopold's in Savannah is a great place.
  8. So far he worth one TD essay and nothing more. No excitement here.
  9. Typically, the team moves late when the other teams are doing their housekeeping and are ready to make a little move to clean up their roster, so we wait and see what excitement lies ahead. I wanted to like the essay, but I really didn't like it - not because of the writer, but because it points out all the sad facts.
  10. Can't go with this. They lost Naylor, got our Santana and a prospect. We lost Santana and got nothing - just hoping. We lost Kepler and got nothing, could we have traded last year and got a prospect? We have brought in a list of pitchers I do not want to go over and got nothing back as we let them walk. Sorry, the other teams have done better and I am sorry that is the case.
  11. Bieber, Torres, India - true not big on the MLB scale but in our division these three alone take the Twins out of this discussion. Even the loss of Santana to the Indians is a negative for us. Looking at the USA Today farm system rankings you can give the White Sox credit for rising to number 2 overall, the surprise is that the Tigers are number 1, Cleveland is #6, and the Twins number 13. This is also part of the offseason calculations. Only KC at #22 fails in this area, but the Twins cannot avoid FA, make meaningless trades and let their own players walk if we want to avoid being 4th in the division.
  12. The posts caused me to dig a little deeper - If I read BR correct there were 689 hits in 3314 ABs as PH (seems to many, but that is as much as I could understand) 208 average. How does that compare with a good batter facing the opposite arm?
  13. In the past I watched Casey Stengel use platooning but he knew better than to mess with his really good batters. The good batters learn to hit from both sides if they're given a chance to face enough of the opposite arm. I think we have some players that can adjust. And I would hope we would develop them and not pinch hit in the early innings. That really doesn't rest the player. Putting an inferior player in because of the side they bat from does not improve the team.
  14. We did him no favors last year. When he was off. We should have put him in a lower profile experiences and we didn't. Baldelli is slow to change.
  15. Is he doing any good? When those situations come up Baldelli just pinch hit Margot and brought in a lesser arm. So what did tinglers analysis do?
  16. I'm always wondering how much difference a manager makes but the pinch hitting and the yanking of pitchers drives me crazy. I think they need somebody with more fire and I will ask the question that I've put out many times without getting a good answer. What are the bench coaches and the assistant bench coaches doing? I just don't understand how we can have all of those coaches 12 total and not get some better decisions at times. Does Balldelli just overruled them
  17. An interesting New Years exercise with so many assumptions. I do not think all the players you projected to lose prospect status will accomplish that this year. In fact I wonder if Walker doesn't become the one who moves up! Still waiting on Soto. I also like Eeles - Our Altuve. I do think the Twins have to move some of the surplus - Julien, Miranda. I still like McCusker getting 1B time, although either Wallner or Larnach makes sense for me too - both DH and 1B.
  18. Obviously he was brought on to take Margot's place as the pinch hitter of choice.
  19. I know I have already posted and the questions I raised still reflect my thoughts, but suddenly I am struck with another chunk of baseball history. The Red Sox - sold Babe Ruth! Not news today I know, but https://baseballhall.org/discover-more/stories/short-stops/the-deal-that-changed-the-game. Now one of the commentors mentioned Pohlads my need liquidity for Real Estate. No idea if this is true, but should we sell one of our three stars for them to have cash we might have a new curse in the works.
  20. Bob Allison Sliding catch 1965 world series Mudcat Grant home run game six 1965 World Series First game - 1961 Rod Carew steals home for 7th straight time - ties record July 1969
  21. Not my money and I do not understand salaries and revenues in the economic region that is MLB. So my questions are a little different. Is there some financial crisis in the Pohlad holdings that make them suddenly in need of money? If not why did they suddenly decide to cut when the promise of winning was in front of them? If reputation meant anything the Pohlads should want to go out on top and be local heroes. They would get their money in a couple years regardless, but to slash the team, disappoint the fans and leave with the money stuffed in their collective pockets makes no sense.
  22. So true - unfortunately except for the big trade that got us a bullpen catcher we have improved by subtraction - is that possible? We also dipped into Rule V. So two moves (Twins must have to do things in twos). So those who defend the team now have two players to project and root for. The Twins have always waited to the end of the FA season, but this year the rest of the teams did not get that memo.
