  1. I believe that you can find franchises that do care about winning and maximizing their opportunities. I think there are organizations who want to fulfill their fans wishes. I am sorry if you think otherwise.
  2. Ober is not the answer but the who are they line up produced more than we are used to.
  3. This discussion is enlightening, but not inspiring. What is left? The player we wanted to move - Vasquez is one of the few remaining. What is the social contract that the Twins should have had with the fans after their one good playoff season? They broke that promise too.
  4. Thank you Joe Ryan - without his effort there would be no room for a positive comment. Julien Ks twice and is replaced with Gaspar who Ks twice. Shouldn't we have Keaschall back? How can you not be excited when 5 of the players in the Box score are hitting under 200. I remember when it was the Mendoza line and would be embarrassing. Two more were under 225! Funderburk 7.27 closer - who needs Varland, Duran, Jax, Stewart, Columbe?
  5. I won't debate the take you have except to say that Eno Sarris on Athletic had this paragraph today, "He’s gotten poor prospect grades for his command in the past, but his location numbers weren’t a problem this year. He’s absolutely going to be interesting if he gets some starts for the Twins over the next few weeks, especially since the Twins are an underrated team for pitching development."
  6. Good report and we needed it. I can't wait to see the transactions that are going to be made before today's Twins game. We might have to turn over the Twins report to Seth, he will be the only one to know the players!
  7. Varland not only had talent and was being used extensively, he is also from MN. If the Twins had any sense of fan friendliness they would have kept him. This entire day is too bizarre. Too many questionable moves with too little coming back. The present looks bad, the future doesn't look any better. Let's see all the 7,8,9 inning RP are gone. 1B, SS, LF, CF gone but we still have Vasquez.
  8. This is beyond rebuild. This is just a free-for-all and we take on a pitcher that Tampa Bay can't fix? There is no team that maximizes pitchers more than the Rays and no team that seems incapable of maximizing talent like the Twins.
  9. Let's imagine - Tonkin, Funderburk, Topa, Davis carry the pen, Griffin Jax continues his marvelous 2025 and we bring back Ohl and Adams. I hope Louie can pitch every day!
  10. Two big investments - Correa and Donaldson - both flops, will we be snake bit or try again?
  11. At least we now know which NL team we will be rooting for in the playoffs, Mr Bonnes should have a happy home for the remainder of the season!
  12. Time to give Eeles a look in Minneapolis. He has earned a chance and no one else is forcing their way onto the roster at this time. Noah Davis should go down - who comes up? What will the BP look like without Duran? I hated to see him go. I would have made Ryan, Duran, and Buxton my three untouchables, but too late now. Is Varland the new closer? Jax has not looked good. Finally isn't it time for the SP in the minors to go five innings? Unless there are delays they are already warmed up and one more inning now and another by the end of August should be fine.
  13. I'm sorry to say but I am underwhelmed. I really want something to happen where it's exciting and gives us hope. But replacing Duran is a challenge that this team will not be up to. I just really believe his level of closer has to have been worth more than what we got.
  14. After this game I was dreaming of what I would write if I were the TD correspondent stuck with covering this: Red Sox 13, Twins 1: Is This Selling? We stunk! Zebby Matthews has not turned the corner - at least not the one we hoped for. The batters stunk - only Wallner gets a pass The fielding stunk - who cares if Jeffers had the PB removed - Bader is our defensive stalwart and enough said. The RP stunk and Noah is no longer a secret weapon Maybe Griffin just doesn't want to get traded - great audition. WPA worst players - The Twins team Oh, by the way the 3B coach stunk again too.
  15. So much argument over a meaningless move. The real points for me are the fact that the team decided that even with Ober struggling, Festa, Morris and Lopez on IL we were willing to get rid of a pitcher who could fill in every five days - how well? Do we care about winning more games or are we done with it> Next two days will tell and I do not mean as fans how do we feel, I want to know the club thoughts. Second Tigers lost starters and needed that every 5 day arm - they got him at a very low cost. Evidently trading within the division does not matter. Now we can speculate on Paddack value to them the rest of the year. Check this site for Tigers IL. They are down two of their primary starters and need arms for the rest of the year. What is next for the Twins. I hope it is something more interesting.
  16. What a game - one question that many of you could answer for me - what is the record of our young pitchers in their first game in the majors. Festa and Matthews did not shine in theirs. Ohl and Adams have not looked good at all so far. I keep wondering when we will get a minor leaguer who come in and look good from the beginning. I know we do not have a Skenes or Misiorowski, but the pipeline that has dominated our discussions since Falvey arrived should deliver someone who can come in strong. It looks like Matthews might turn a corner, but is it how we prep these players in the minors? Glad to see love for Lee again - comments about him have been too harsh. The team defense really looked bad again and I do worry about that phase of the game. If you want the rookie pitchers to have a chance someone catching the ball is a good place to start.
  17. It is hard to comment - it seemed inevitable, but we all hoped for a full season Buxton, just to have one really positive story for the year. Correa's lightheadedness yesterday is another concern although his play will not be missed like Byron's
  18. What have we got to lose? We are not a playoff team. If the rest tank and let us in it will be one and done which contributes nothing. Let Ober rest, give us a six man rotation with lots of young arms. It will make it a lot more interesting than wondering if we can get to 500
  19. I enjoy these summaries, but our record with prospects has me waiting before getting excited about their potential.
  20. Actual baseball talk - not analytics, not trade talk, but a man talking about his profession in such a refreshing way. Thanks for the article.
  21. Perhaps I need one of those leads that suggest sarcasm - but like most sarcasm there is also some truth in what I am saying and Adams is 18 - 30 with a 4.41 era over five minor league seasons. with a 1.260 WHIP.
