  1. I think of the prospects gone and this list is not going to be good replacements. I am glad to see the pitchers with the standard health report of all Twin signing.
  2. I am so old school that I remember the Mendoza line and it was not an honor. Please do not drop the OPS line on us. He stinks.
  3. I need some good news, but this off season has only a catcher to light a fire in fan enthusiasm. Will that work? Trade Urshela and sign Turner - bad rumor, worse if true. We still have time and the FO likes to work last minute so there is hope.
  4. A recent look at the AL central asked if anyone wants to win. The big signings - Benintendi by Sox, Bell by the Guardians. The rest is a joke - including Gallo. So do we stay in the middle - not moving forward, not moving backwards. I just want them to tell us the truth - we are looking at rookies and prospects (trade the vets if that is true) - and let us step back hoping to move forward like the Hrbek/Gaetti days.
  5. Good reflections - Time for fans to stop obsessing over the high end FA and focus on the crappy low enders we sign like Gallo. Let's get a team of good prospects and grow with them.
  6. I am all in on Lee - I was in on Griffey, Soto, Acuna...go for it. While I am still gagging over Gallo, a young dynamic player is just what I hope for.
  7. The White Sox got Benntendi - We lose
  8. We have covered for Sano's absence now that we have and his 79 OPS+ Sorry Joey, but you do not make up for Correa, Rodon, or any other random FA.
  9. Please - this is such terrible news I would rather have the blizzard back. We have not even been without Sano for a year did we really need another bat to stir the air in the stadium. I hate this more than any move this FO has made - bring back Shoemaker and put him in the OF.
  10. The latest rumor is that Falvey and Lavine are going to split time at SS. Who needs to sign a player when so much talent is in the FO?
  11. Up north the power is still off, the trees are down, driveways blocked, temp dropping. We will deal with what we have - the same thing as we do with the Twins. 1991 is a long ways back in the rear view mirror and the view ahead might need a telescope, but when the season starts we will listen, shake our head and deal with the mosquitoes and black flies. Time to stop obsessing over what the Twins did not do and get the power back.
  12. I do not want a 13 year contract for anyone. Over pay, but make it a reasonable length.
  13. Of course it mattes which is why we need Miranda who showed an ability to hit with RISP and we need Larnach and Kiriloff to do what they are capable of.
  14. Wish I could follow your reasoning and agree with you, but we definitely see this FA market differently. 10 elite years of CC is not something I expect. Good luck.
  15. I know I have been criticized for not supporting the huge contracts, but ESPN's article on aging really hits the points I believe. I know this is subscription based, but this short statement "But at age 35, the group averaged 3.4 WAR, and at age 36, it was down to 2.2 WAR" captures the essence of what I see. As a person who has spent his life guiding people I can tell you the body just does not hold up no matter our attitudes. I do not mind short term big payments, but the league has gone nuts. If this is to avoid the luxury tax this year, it just adds to it in future years. When I look at the chart that ESPN put together the only players worth some value after age 36 are DHs. "Among all shortstops since 1969, only 10 produced at least 20 career WAR from age 30 on."
  16. A good roster for a 500 team. Take Luis Arraez out and who gets on base. Let's hope the young players really step forward and the next man up is able to take the mound with authority.
  17. You nailed it Matthew. So let's move on. I look at our prospects and remember when Hrbek, Puckett, Gaetti, Gagne...all came up and jelled as they got experience. We have the on field prospects to do that again - do we, will we, have the pitchers?
  18. I have to add a second comment - as I read about this aging SS I was thinking about how many of these SS contracts will end with similar descriptions - he is age 36. All the contracts go to age 40+.
  19. Correa has been the staple of TD all off season - now we are milking tangents of Correa! Lets go with Farmer and the prospects.
  20. The counter question is - why do fans think teams should pay outrageous contracts? If every team signs a dumb contract they are still all in the same place.
  21. A winning team, dynamic game (lets hope the change work for quicker games), exciting team, good players. As a person who did not care if we signed Correa to an oversized contract, I look for a lot more than losing with a big contract player.
  22. I am happy. Poor Giants - enjoy half of your contract years then complain like the Angels did because you have a big contract holding you down. I really don't think Correa produces enough to even consider this kind of contract. Next we will speculate on Rodon, but be ready to play with the team we have. At our level trades are the only things that actually change the dial. Right now we have a nice team, middle of the pack, until some of our players catch fire - Kiriloff matches his potential, Lewis returns and blows us away, Ryan gets an extra pitch and rises to number one... There is always hope.
  23. With what is left we may have what we need in house. Don't sign another mediocre arm to clog the rotation.
  24. This is good news! Catching is so important and this really fills a significant hole.
  25. We sure could have used Murphy - but it is an interesting trade and I think all three did well.
