  1. So let me get this right. Twins ownership with FO following along, talk of major investments in the ball club and fan experience; and follow this up within months by flipping the script and slashing payroll. All this as the on field play yields the first playoff successs in decades! RE: the broadcast rights it is unexplainable the FO could not anticipate the issues and get out front of developments to please the fan base. Another missed opportunity. To top it all off... Twins lose a key young FO talent within months of her hire to the CHCAGO Bears! Can't make this stuff up!
  2. Would like to see a similar polling of MLB teams owners. This would be more revealing regarding the Twins. Regarding the front office I go back a couple of seasons in recalling a Twins team in first place in June. At which point the pitching coach opts to Quit On Them for a College manager position. This reflects poorly in the FO and Rocco in my mind. Since then I can't count the number of head scratchers Rocco has made, and the FO gifted Cinnci some MLB talent for who?(one example). And now this situation with TV viewing can not be explained away simply as out of the FO control.
  3. I read that the sausage was kept in Jeffers shoe for transport. Of all Rocco's concern of sickness from this ""sausage fest" this aspect seems most troubling. Someone needs to inspect these shoes for health code violations! I like my sausage with kraut and mustard. How do you enjoy 'em?
  4. This is an interesting take on the trade. In making room for Julien to play fulltime at second base we are a better younger team. I do not like the FO argument for Descalfani to be a #5 starter even before the injury news. With the future development of Gabby is where we may see how it shakes out.
  5. Not so, an original Chicago Hot Dog is second to none.
  6. RE your final point. I don't think the FO thought it through. Or, if they did it was not a discussion they had with Rocko and his staff. I fail to understand the practice of bringing in veterans who's better days are behind them or rate out as average when we have players ready and eager to prove themselves. I am ok with rookie mistakes vs veterans going through the motions.
  7. Baseball, like most pro sports at that level is a game of adjustments. The competition has adjusted to the Twins hitting approach and until we see the Twins countering that, and change their approach to hitting particularly with two strikes, then I see no reason for improvement.
  8. I am not so concerned about the swing and misses for strike three. To let the umpiring decide the AB is hard to stomach. The hitting coach has a job to do here.
  9. "...the beauty of baseball.". True in that the game reflects much of life's journey in adulthood. We try our best to navigate different stages in the hope of ending up safely at home. RE: our Twins. It is troubling to see these ballplayers looking at so many third strikes. They must have a plan when they get in the batters box. To let the umpire dictate the result is hard to watch.
  10. Yes...but the outcomes can be significantly different. You can bet the pitcher know what the situation calls for and the batter needs to be prepared and disciplined enough to respond. Twins batters are getting themselves out by not tailoring their approach to the moment.
  11. It's simple. If an injury keeps them off the field there is no performance to measure. Until they can stay healthy 130 games from these three is very optimistic.
  12. Rocko's comment about his SS play is very telling when you consider all his starts at SS during Spring Training. I don't believe he played else where. If he is called up he will play fulltime and most likely at SS I believe. It is unusual for a top prospect to get the call to be a utility player. So where does that leave Correa?... injury, DHing or traded? I want to see how this unfolds.
  13. The owners business is entertainment. Fans come to the ballpark to enjoy all the pleasures of professional baseball in a nice facility. It is about being entertained for a few hours. Ownership knows this and promotes the team and Target Field as such. RE: The 3 Reasons the FO prefers injury prone trades. There is actually a fourth reason... poor medical research.
  14. I see no reason to be concerned. If indeed we see a drop off in HR production of previous years (#4 in MLB) I believe we still are among the league leaders... #8-10. Twins have other more pressing issues.
  15. Is it just me or do the Twins have a history of buying damaged goods?
