  1. Twins change in ownership may not mean higher payroll. My hope is for changes in coaching personnel and therefore preparation of players.
  2. You offer some good thoughts, but I don't agree with all. Leave Zebby and Festa to pitch in the majors, and learn from Lopez. Yes...Santana and Castro were bright spots in 2024. The trades you suggest are doable. Twins need to focus on improving the offense... Situational hitting, base running and not giving away at bats. The fielding left a lot to be desired (historically a strength of Twins). My concerns are with the preparation and conditioning, and those areas need to be addressed by coaching and training staff. Watkins, Conger and Diaz are replaceable. (Clear to me, either players don't listen to their instructions or poor in game coaching). It's well known that the season is a grind so why did the Twins have so many players wear out the last 30+ games?
  3. Sure...it is easiest to say players didn't play well. I prefer to look deeper and notice the poor base running and infield defense. Coaching should address those weaknesses during the season.
  4. Look closer then... The body language of all but Santana and Correa clearly says, "I'm tired and not focused on the job." Conditioning routine needs to be addressed and enforced team wide. As I have said numerous times; the coaching staff needs to respond or bring in others that will lead the players improvement.
  5. Not me. As Correa said, "this is Bucks team.". He needs to own it. His willingness to take himself off the field at the slightest injury speaks volumes. He is not committed to the success of the team.
  6. Twins failure due to... Poor performances of players, injuries, lacking affective leadership, winning culture (ie: Minnesota nice).
  7. To me this is the problem. The Twins are boring under his direction. Rarely putting pressure on the opposing team and swinging for the fences. It is uninspiring and lazy. Many other teams practice a more aggressive and active style that produces wins. And more wins when it counts...like in August and September.
  8. Yes. I have my memories. Kelly and McPhail worked well together to get the must out of marginal players that were brought in to round out the roster. Shane Mack may be a better example for your decerning stat line. I will submit this... Kelly got more out of his troops with less talent that Rocco. Period.
  9. So Rocco and FO have some job security. We can only hope they take a good long look in the mirror and see the changes in their approach to running this ball club. I would suggest they take a cue from the competition. Detroit prides itself on being unpredictable. KC is very aggressive. Cleveland battles to win every AB whether pitching or hitting. Of course, this new approach would require moving some players. Lewis could bring back some established talent...same for Jax and Lee. We need to remember that to get proven talent we need to offer proven talent. Case in point is the Arreaz for Lopez deal. Otherwise we give away futures for questionable talent.
  10. Lopez is that ace. He, like most on the roster, tired down the last few weeks. The way the Twins played this last month they had no business or opportunity to make the playoffs.
  11. Re: Kelly. He got the most out of his roster because he would put them in a position to succeed. He got clutch performances out of Laudner and Bush, for instance while they struggled to hit consistently. I believe they had confidence when it mattered as a result of Kelly not putting them in spots. However, to see Rocco keep pinch-hitting with Margot and calling on Theilbar or others when their body language said, "yipes!"
  12. Good read. It gives me the thought that the media coverage of the team budget and imagining all the ramifications and possiblities to no end was poorly thought out. I for one, did not realize the Twins had the highest player $$ within our division until a week ago, and I read up on the Twins year round. So obviously its a Media plot to... Oh never mind. 🤣
  13. Thoughtful run down. I agree on few items. The medical/training evaluations need to improve. Two years ago a new head trainer was brought in to address that aspect... Little impact it seems. Scouting department needs to be addressed. I have concerns about the coaching staff under Falvey. It is thought that the FO offers guidance on in-game decisions...then he needs to also take some heat for the mental lapses and uninspired performances. Fire Watkins while he's at it. Spot on re: roster depth. Noting that Cleveland KC and Detroit have lower payrolls is good evidence. I do not understand your point on the bullpen. As the game is played now you need arms that can handle 2+ days of work. The emphasis on velo is questionable because it limits how often you can deploy them. The one bright spot under this FO of his is the farm system growth. Now one of the top system in player rankings. Question is: will the coaching develop major league talent in them.
  14. that name Rocco. Gives the vocal impression of a fighter. Someone who stands his ground and sticks up for his fellow combatants. A guy you know has your back. Someone who instills confidence and you want to be in their corner. Baldelli has none of that, does none of that. I don't believe the players "play for him" anymore. It's time.
  15. The cream rises to the top and the Twins are fat free.
  16. Oh the irony. Myself and more knowledgeable folks suggested way back in what seems like another baseball world that we trade for this pitcher. So it goes.
  17. Rocco. It's all been said. However, he will only be let go if FO is shaken up. Our best hope is the coaching staff is shaken up. Maki needs to go for sure. If pitchers aren't prepared to do their job then poor leadership is a cause. Same of who ever coaches base running and defense...poor preparation leads to what we have seen Way Too Often this season.
  18. I would put it on coaching. Period. Rocco does not inspire 100% from his players. Therefore the players lack focus and motivation. What a shame because good young players will learn bad habits under his leadership.
  19. There is something wrong here. Pitchers can't pitch two days in a row out of the pen! Then get guys who can or will!! This time of the season No Excuse!!
  20. Outs at home plate are hard to see. Watkins runs guys into outs at third often too. Who can count how many times Miranda has run into outs on the bases? He is not the only one but more often than not...so is he ignoring the coaches? I do prefer mistakes of aggression vs passive play, but they need to better pick those spots to be aggressive. I would hope Rocco did include his coaches in the "unprofessional" approach to the KC series.
  21. It is up to the coaching staff to correct preparations and focus of the players. There are clearly some communication issues within that clubhouse. Going back to last year for sure and (I believe) earlier, Rocco has not demonstrated effective communications. Whether it be regarding the pitching staff, our defensive lapses, or injury status he lacks the necessary skill to handle the challenges of effective discussions to refocus the group. I'm thinking of pitchers concerns over their usage, players not reporting injuries, players mental lapses on the base paths and more. This is an area all the coaching staff must take on, but it comes back to the leadership of Rocco and the trust of his ball club.
  22. Just to add... I do believe he is a poor communicator. That will lead to many clubhouse issues.
  23. We can't know for sure if Rocco lost the clubhouse. Clearly he has lost the fan base as representative here. I have wondered for some seasons now how committed he is to winning the battles...every at bat, every umpire decision, every fielding play. He looks very passive to me in situations that call for backing up your players. Basically, he does not inspire confidence or an aggressive approach to the game.
