Every year a few guys figure it out and become productive major leaguers. See Brent Rooker. That is the difference between AAAA and major league hitters. I am rooting for the guy and won't give up on him until the Twins do. Did i read that he has 1 option remaining?

I am sure teams are low balling the Twins with their offers. Waiting is the smart thing to do. Teams that have offensive needs might be more inclined to deal as we get closer to spring training. With his history the last 2 years let him and Buxton share the DH duties. If that is the case Buxton will get most of those AB's but Polanco can take a turn at 2b and 3b once a week also. I understand his defense has declined but once a week at a position will not hurt the team. Depth is important and especially the way Rocco manages Polanco will get plenty of AB's and be productive. As we saw last year it takes a lot more than 26 players to successfully survive an MLB season.

Why not? He has earned a chance to do so.

2 years older than when he last played any significant time in CF. His offensive numbers will suffer. It will cost him money in free agency to play CF.

What about signing Rhys Hoskins? What would that cost? Add a RH power bat?
  6. miller761
Does Gordon have any options left?
  7. miller761
Can Martin handle CF defensively? How does he compare to Bader or Taylor? If he is anywhere close he gets my vote for a shot at CF.
  8. miller761
Can we afford Rhys Hoskins? Good RH bat can play 1B.

We need to add a big bat for the 3 or 4 spot in our order. Look at lineups left in the playoffs. A big right handed bat who can play 1B would be ideal. Fill in the roster after that. You can never have enough depth...see 2023. MLB is 2 seasons with the regular season used to make the playoffs. Once you make the playoffs your roster can be adjusted. The really good teams have the big boppers but also quality at bottom of order.

Willing to live with strikeouts. The number of strikeouts looking has to fixed especially with runners in scoring position and less than 2 outs.

What a wonderful and enjoyable season. Future is bright plenty of players in pipeline. Can't wait to see front office moves.

With Correa and P. Lopez leading this team by example I feel this team will reel off deep playoff runs for the next 4 years. Who knows maybe even a World Champion's parade!
  13. miller761
What are Ryan's and Ober's stats against Houston this year? Career?
  14. miller761
To heck with breaking the streak let's win that first series and move on!
  15. miller761
Symbolic of this year's team. No flashy numbers but a lot of good solid numbers.
  16. miller761
Today's starter would look good in our bullpen!
  17. miller761
All good points. When the playoffs start it is the beginning of a tournament. Should we not have the best players possible on the team at that time? What I saw last night come out of the pen not only cost us the game but is not the best bullpen we can form. Loyalty and faith in a player can only last for so long. Results matter. We have the good fortune to experiment with our pen for a month to find the best pitchers. Why don't we do that?
  18. miller761
A big help would be to have both Julien and Polanco in the lineup. Any chance Polanco could play some 1B or 3B?
  19. miller761
Any chance Polanco can wear a 1B mitt?
  20. miller761
Does the remaining schedule favor on of these 3 teams?
  21. miller761
All that matters are results. Tonight he got us 7 super innings and a win. Give me more Bailey Ober!!
  22. miller761
Maeda's inability to pitch deep into games also puts added stress on our bullpen. Why would the FO want to do this?
  23. miller761
Trying to throw out a fast base runner at the plate and not keeping the lead run on first. This is not the first time he has done this in his career. He should be next to Rocco tomorrow thinking about what a stupid play that was.
  24. miller761
Way too early to be excited about any success(pitching and being 11-8). Also way too early to dwell on how poor the hitting and run scoring are. Check back at the end of May and you will be able to draw your conclusions on a bigger sample size. Something tells me our pitching won't be as good as it looks now and our hitting will be better(warm weather and addition of Polanco to lineup). Right now enjoy being in first place with 10 days to go in our most diffcult month schedule wise.

Another option is a trade. Could trade Max given his contract situation and organizational depth behind him. More than likely he will be gone at end of season anyway so a marginal prospect in return would be great.
