Report From The Fort: Five Spring Training Tells
miller761 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Again I will state Tom Kelly's mission statement. Make all the plays you are supposed to make. We make much too much fuss about great range or a great arm. In baseball if you make all the regular plays you will win more games than you lose. If Shelton preaches that the Twins will not be all the doom and gloom everyone is forecasting. -
Report From The Fort: Intentional From The Start
miller761 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If I am the manager I would have TK at spring training everyday he wants to attend. I am old enough to remember TK's teams and their fundamentals. You very seldom saw a throw to a wrong base or an overthrow of a cutoff man. If there was a physical or mental mistake there was nothing done at the time of mistake. But it was taken care of behind the playing field and in some cases the player was not in lineup next day. Under Rocco it was very hard to watch sometimes. Baseball is a game where the most talented team may not win on a given day. a kind bounce here, a mistake at a bad time by the other team can give an inferior team a win. This happens more often than you think during a season and can make a big difference in how much success a team has. I look forward to a season when I see a Twins team bunt, move runners over, get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs, make the correct throws in the field and just make all the normal plays for your position. If Shelton can accomplish that fans will start showing up again because we are winning mor than we are losing. -
Roden has to stick with the big league club. Pass or fail. I can name 3 outfielders who will need to play everyday in St. Paul. It is those 3's turn this year and next year. If guys like Outman and Roden aren't producing it is time to send them packing so they aren't blocking the way.

The Twins Are Waiting On an Offer They Can’t Refuse
miller761 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't know why we keep talking about getting KFA for $5 mil. Spend that money on the bullpen. He is just another mediocre MLB player. We have enough of them already.- 71 replies

Arbitrary Thoughts: Bailey Ober
miller761 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If keeping our big 3 SP will fit into the budget for next year I am all for it. I honestly think the Twins can be a plus 500 team if they are able to fill out a competitive bulpen. Every contending team in Al Central is flawed in 1 major area. Why not it be us to make the jump next year with some of the young kids getting their exposure to the big time?- 28 replies

I think it is relevant to state there is a good chance of no baseball or a shortened season in 2027. Therefore any player under control through the 2027 season may only be under control for next year. Did or does that factor in trade decisions?

Love the way the team is playing. They are playing baseball...reacting to the situation and putting their best foot forward to take advantage of the situation. There has been an increase of opposite field hits from this bunch and they are scoring runs. Not smart enough to know if the 2 are related but am sure enjoying it. I see throws that the cutoff man can cut and more throws from the outfield to correct bases. I see more aggressive nature on the bases without being reckless. I see more similarities with my home state Milwaukee Brewers minus the bullpen and we all know what they did to us in that last series in Minneapolis. Maybe the trade deadline 2025 will change Twins baseball in more ways than we first thought

This is not really relevant to this article but I see Travis Adams listed as the starting pitcher tonight. I think the fans and the front office have see enough of this man. We have nobody else to start? Why??

Dear Twins, About That Season Ticket Letter...
miller761 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have been a loyal Twins fan for over 50 years. When Carl Pohlad bought the Twins from Calvin Griffin he saved us fans from Calvin's cheap ways. Now we are looking for the new owner to save us from the Pohlad's cheap ways.- 31 replies

Did Rocco explain why Austin Martin (3 hits Friday night) is not in the lineup on Saturday? Aside from injury or illness that is inexcusable unless you do not want to give your team a chance to win

When teams don't play good sound fundamental baseball they are not good teams. What do the not so good baseball teams do at the deadline? They sell off assets that are of no value to them or won't be next year. Hopefully next year we are in the exact opposite situation.

You have to do something with these players. The next level of prospects will be ready for AAA next year. You need to have those spots open for those players to play.

Looking at their remaining schedule a 36-24 record is very possible. Will it happpen...probably not. I for one remain optimistic. If these 3 things happen I like our chances. (1) Keaschall returns shortly and is the player we saw earlier. Our offense was just so much better with his hitting and baserunning. (2) Ober returns next week and is able to retain his velocity. (3) Pablo follows suit shortly thereafter. We have a lot of division games left that we must win series and hold our own against the Yankees, Rays and Blue Jays.

Nobody is going to pay what Duran and Jax are worth. What you will receive will be similar to what you would receive next year at this same time. Prospects are just that. Nothing is for sure and these 2 are proven MLB top tier relievers with very manageable salaries. In my mind unless you are getting proven MLB talent in return why would you trade. The team is closer to contention and playoffs than it is not. Play the games for 2 weeks.
