  1. While the Oakland sweep was "ugly" at least the Twins figured out a way to win the series. Oakland swept the powerful Atlanta Braves a few weeks ago.
  2. 100% correct. Twins are an under .500 team playing Kepler and Gallo and looking like they are going nowhere despite a terrific first half from their starting pitching. I don't see them being worse playing Wallner and Larnich.
  3. I'm still waiting to see the changes Baldelli was talking about.
  4. A .260-.275 hitter who can steal bases??? That's what Buxton was suppose to be and was in the minors. Now he's another Gallo or Sano swinging for the fences and striking out way too often.
  5. I believe I read that the Reds had moved Steer to 1st base due to his poor fielding at 3rd.
  6. I don't know the specifics, but it seems like Gallo is the equal to Kepler. Playing both at the same time leaves a huge hole in the lineup (although Kepler has been hot lately). I think the Twins FO thought they had a trade lined up to unload Kepler so they signed Gallo but the trade fell through.
  7. i heard both Acuna and Brave's manager talk about having a plan for hitting is important and the reason the Brave's lineup up and down take much better at bats than the Twins. Kind of what Royce Lewis said last week. With the Twins lineup there is no way they should be on pace to break the strike out record. Got to start somewhere: Popkins has to go! Twins cannot strike out more than they already are even without him.
  8. As pathetic as Twins hitting has been their hitting coach would have probably has Arraez hitting in the .250 range by now.
  9. The Braves series is over and in the 3 ugly losses here are the offensive results: 3 runs 13 hits 31 strike outs It is past time for changes: New hitting coach; new manager; major roster changes.
  10. To me Buxton is a bigger disappointment than Miranda. His apparent philosophy of being a homerun hitter and as a result striking out way too often and carrying a .220 average is Sano-like. He did not have this approach in the minors.
  11. Or sent him to the minors to get him quit looking like Sano and learn to being the type of player he was coming though the minors: hitting in the .270-.285 range and utilize his speed instead of trying to be a homerun hitter.
  12. Being strictly a DH, only batting in the .220 range, and striking out near Sano numbers? That's not the Buxton I watched play at Chattanooga and along his journey in the minors.
  13. Very ugly!! The first obvious firing that should have happened already is the hitting coach/es. The swing hard in case you hit it mentality isn't working. It looks like most Twins hitters have no plan of attacking what the pitcher will throw.
  14. Agree about it being more fun to watch the 'young' hitters than guys like Kepler and Garlick. Lewis, Julien, Wallner, and even Larnach look like they have a plan for their at bats instead of just flailing at every pitch they see.
  15. Today the Twins started 2 players batting over .250 vs the Rays. That's not going to get it done.
  16. If he was a Twin he would probably be striking out at least twice a game like most Twins.
  17. If the knee is indeed the problem, sit him down and get it fixed. Lewis is an example of what the result can be.
  18. Agree 100% with Kepler and have been disappointed in Buxton's swing for the fence and chasing pitches low and away.
  19. Keep Kepler in RF, Buxton to CF, and Wallner to DH. Everybody happy. If Buxton gets hurt in CF-----that's just the way things go. At least Twins would be using all of Buxton's strengths.
  20. And I hope Kepler is watching AK's plate discipline.
  21. The offense needs Buxton in CF with someone else DH'ing (Wallner, Larnach, Miranda, ???). If Buxton gets hurt Twins just move on without him. Wasting a big part of his talents by sitting on the bench except for 4 AB's while he hits .230 or below.
