    Of course not, Baddoo is a prospect who makes sense for Detroit to carry since they are unlikely to be in the playoff hunt and has a much higher ceiling than Garlick. The Twins wouldn’t keep him in the majors as they’d prefer guys with more experience. Admittedly Garlick doesn’t have much of that, but he profiles as the RH option in a platoon. Rooker/Kirilloff can be called up whenever.

    Baddoo has had 131 PAs in Fort Myers as his highest experience - he’d be behind Garlick, Rooker, Kirilloff, Larnach, and Celestino even with his torrid spring. He’d be starting in AA if he were still in our org.

    Hmmm, not sure about Garlick over Rooker. Rooker did start to slump the past week, but I really thought it was his time to shine. He's already getting old for a prospect and he's got Kirilloff and Larnach breathing down his neck. Plus AAA doesn't start until May, so the prospects won't get regular playing time for awhile... Also, Garlick himself is a rookie even at age 29, and has very few MLB at bats to his name. I could see this lasting a month and then see him get DFA'd once his hot streak wears off. And Cave is fine, but as a starter... not a fan. Arraez should get some time in LF too. The bullpen should be OK, we'll definitely see Law and Waddell come up at some point. Just have to wonder about the guys like Chalmers and Ober, and if they're hurting like Colina is.

    So that's why Colina hasn't thrown at all. I wonder if he may get put on the 60 day IL so they can open a 40 man spot. He, alongside others like Ober and Chalmers are taking up 40 man spots but don't seem to be close to pitching in the majors, so room will need to be made.

    Thorpe was optioned today, which should lock Dobnak into a spot as the long reliever. Not sure who's left to be optioned, but I saw Law was not among them.

    Yeah, it's looking like Astudillo is going to make the initial squad. He's been in the lineup nearly every day and he's been playing plenty of 3B/1B. I'd really prefer Dobnak make the team over Shoemaker... but I think we see either Dobnak or Thorpe make the squad as the long reliever. Law has been great, but I'd rather seem him start off in the minors. I don't hate seeing Stashak get demoted, though if you're a proponent of "ST stats mean nothing", then shouldn't Stashak's strong regular season numbers make him a lock to make the team? Whoops, I see Dobnak's actually in the pen. That does make sense, then. Hopefully he'll be stretched out enough for when the eventual injury to a starter happens.

    I was high on Waddell being picked up, and now he’s looking like a good asset to keep at AAA. I feel better about the bullpen depth with some strong performances from guys like him and Law. Plus, Thorpe’s stuff looks like it has life again. Sure, it’s just spring training, but when you strike out this many guys, I’m taking notice.

    If Rooker were healthy he’d be starting that playoff game instead. He may not be defensively as good as Rosario, but his bat is ready and he’s got the power to hit as many HRs as Eddie did.

    .260 would be great for Sano, but I fear it's going to be more about .210. Simmons just got here from Curacao and has had something like 10 PAs this spring. He's not going to be a force at the plate, he's here for his defense. If Donaldson had played as much as he did in 2019, he would have hit 39 HRs based on 2020's numbers. How is he no longer a power hitter?

    I thought we were at $128-$131M... I think some projections included some of Maeda's incentives, however.

    I'd be fine if Kirilloff doesn't start with the team. It would be one thing if it meant Cave starting 6 days a week, but with Rooker, Garlick potentially making the team, and Arraez getting play out there, I don't feel so bad about it.

    100% agree, this makes a lot more sense than leading off with him.

    I could see Smeltzer getting DFA'd - the Twins did their best to avoid using him last year, and it seems pretty clear that he doesn't have major league stuff. I don't see the point of carrying him on the roster when the team preferred to go for bullpen games last year instead of giving Smeltzer starts. I think this happens in 2022. Duran and Balazovic just need to get more innings under their belt in the high minors. Thorpe seems to be turning a corner and Dobnak is a pretty darn good 6th/7th starter.

    I didn't realize Roblox had a ticker... I don't know much about it. But if video game franchises had their own stock tickers, then I'd be more of an expert on the topic. If only I could have put money down on Minecraft years ago!

    I don't see Sparkman as the next Wisler... it didn't help that he gave up 5 runs and got no outs in an outing last week. I see Hamilton/Anderson as the next potential Wisler.

    Injuries will always plague prospects, but I think the Twins have had an unordinary rash of season-ending injuries to our hitting prospects over the years. Even Arraez missed a whole year due to injury. I know it's pretty common for pitching prospects to get injured in all sorts of ways, but for the Twins those injuries seem to hit the position players instead.

    Most prospects do... and I don't think Griffey hit around .600 OPS his first few months at A+. Celestino's bat has a long ways to go to be major league ready.

    It's hard to predict how Sano's season will go, but I think one thing is a given - there will be several peaks, and several valleys in his hitting. As for backups, I've seen Blankenhorn has played some 1B, and with Rooker and Kiriloff potentially ending up there, we certainly have the prospect depth. Rooker should make the 26 man roster and back that spot up while occasionally playing LF.

    Nice, there's actually a decent amount of talent to work with here. I wonder if Larnach might start at AAA as well? I think we'd also see Charlie Barnes in the AAA rotation.

    He's outside the top 20, and in the honorable mentions. He only played one game in the MLB, so he's still a prospect.

    I'd take Merrifield over Kepler any day... sure, Max has the higher upside and is younger, but he's a good bet to hit .230 and disappear for long streaks. And if we're using +wRC, here's Kepler's career: 2016: 93 2017: 94 2018: 98 2019: 121 2020: 107 In that same stretch, Whit Merrifield's numbers: 2016: 91 2017: 105 2018: 119 2019: 110 2020: 106

    Here's hoping Kirilloff will be a quality bat in the middle of our lineup for a long time. Just don't get hurt!! Also, Terry Ryan's final draft in 2016 looks like a pretty decent one on paper. The names: 1st: OF Kirilloff 2nd: C Rortvedt 2nd: 3B Miranda 2nd: OF Baddoo (Rule 5 claimed by DET) 5th: SP Balazovic 15th: RP Wells (Rule 5 claimed by BAL) 19th: RP Poppen 32nd: OF Wallner (went on to be a 1st rounder in 2019) 38th: OF Rooker (went on to be a 1st rounder in 2017)

    Kiriloff already missed the entire 2017 season with an injury - if anyone, it'd likely be Larnach as he hasn't had an injury issues and has torn up the minors so far. Or maybe Jeffers.

    And only about 14 hours after the article was published, Lewis is declared out for the season with a torn ACL. Nice timing! Looks like we won't be seeing him for awhile.
